00:0037 vehicles participated in Motortrend's 2025 SUV of the Year competition,
00:07and it was a broad spectrum, from subcompacts to three-row SUVs,
00:12mainstream and luxury models, and prices that ranged between $35,000 all the way up to $150,000.
00:21There could only be one winner, and while this year's field was quite competitive,
00:33only one vehicle stood out by the end of the competition.
00:36That's why the Lincoln Nautilus is Motortrend's 2025 SUV of the Year.
00:43It has a refined and elegant design, and the remarkable cabin experience it offers
00:49made every judge feel special when they got behind the wheel.
00:53The Nautilus has that kind of quality that when you drive it,
00:57it makes you feel truly luxurious and exceptional.
01:02And when looking at the six of the year criteria,
01:05it's easier to see why the Lincoln Nautilus took home the golden calipers.
01:10The Nautilus is debuting Lincoln's new design language, and it starts right here in the front
01:16with the new glider grille.
01:18It's a new interpretation that is now more elegant and sophisticated.
01:22Then you have these very slim headlights that give the whole front an aggressive,
01:27but very luxurious look.
01:29The rear, however, looks very wide thanks to those slim taillights
01:33that just extend from one end to the other.
01:35But the real magic starts inside.
01:38Sit inside the cabin and the first thing you'll notice is this 48-inch screen
01:43that sits atop the dashboard.
01:45Now, we've seen wide screens in other cars before,
01:48but this is the first screen where it's meant to be for every single passenger inside the Nautilus.
01:54It displays the graphic in a very cool way.
01:56It brings a very cool atmosphere into the cabin.
01:59And best of all, it doesn't block your view.
02:01The other cool thing that we like about the cabin is the styling.
02:04There's a mid-century-like styling around this interior that's both innovative and luxurious.
02:11And more than anything, it brings a first-class interior experience
02:15to every single occupant riding in here.
02:18Doesn't matter if you're riding here in the front or in the back,
02:21the quality of materials, the attention to detail,
02:24every single place where you touch, every single place you look,
02:27it feels luxurious.
02:29And that matters.
02:32How well does the Nautilus do what it's supposed to do?
02:35Exceptionally well.
02:37The impact it makes is so significant that we believe
02:40it's going to shift how people think about the Lincoln brand.
02:47And it's not just an upgrade.
02:49It's redefining luxury in its own way.
02:52And more than anything, people are noticing,
02:55the industry is noticing,
02:57and we are noticing.
03:00The Nautilus comes with two powertrain options.
03:03The standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo,
03:08delivering 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque,
03:13which already packs a solid punch.
03:16But if you're looking for more power,
03:19you can opt for the hybrid version for an additional $1,500.
03:24With this upgrade, the engine's output will boost to 310 horsepower
03:29and 295 pound-feet of torque,
03:32giving you that extra edge in performance,
03:35while still maintaining efficiency.
03:38And the hybrid engine is really going to deliver that little bit more boost,
03:41especially going off the bat.
03:43That low-end torque from the electric motor
03:46is going to really make a difference compared to the gas engine.
03:49Now, let's skip one thing out of the way,
03:51and that is that the Nautilus is not a performance SUV.
03:55It's not a numbers SUV.
03:56It's not going to deliver fantastic handling.
03:59I think, on the contrary, this is an SUV that's going to be focusing
04:03on making sure that everybody riding in here is calm,
04:07is peaceful, has a very relaxing atmosphere.
04:11And that is because everything is tailored to that purpose.
04:15The suspension absorbs every bump inside the cabin,
04:19every broken pavement bit.
04:21All that vibration is reduced to a minimum
04:23to make sure that nobody really feels that movement.
04:26There's a lot of sound insulation around the cabin
04:29to make sure that there's no wind noise or there's no tire noise.
04:33Whether you're riding up here in the front or in the rear,
04:36the whole riding experience is going to be very quiet and very peaceful.
04:41And that's part of performance of intended function.
04:43That's part of engineering excellence.
04:46And that's partly why it won Motor Trends SUV of the Year.
04:50How big is the Nautilus on safety?
04:53Huge!
04:54Just look at it this way.
04:56The Nautilus was the only car out of all 10 finalists at SUV of the Year
05:01that received the Top Safety Pick Plus award from the IIHS.
05:07And that, my friends, really makes a difference.
05:11Now, on top of that, we also have Blue Cruise in the Nautilus.
05:15That's a handful of technologies that let you take your hands
05:18and feet off the wheels and the pedals.
05:21And on top of that, it can change lanes on its own,
05:24on certain highways, certain sections of certain highways in North America.
05:29Now, let's say you're driving, you're commuting to work every day,
05:33and you don't have to put your hands on the wheel or your feet on your pedals.
05:36That's going to take away some stress of the driver.
05:39And that's going to really make a difference
05:41by the time you get to work a little stressed or more relaxed.
05:49You might be thinking, hey, you know, the Nautilus,
05:53it's a nice SUV, but it's going to be expensive.
05:56And, you know, it starts at $50,000, which that's not on the very affordable side of things.
06:01However, when you look at the segment, that's right in line with it.
06:05Now, the other good news is that there is a $50,000 model
06:09and an $80,000 model like the Black Label behind me.
06:13Now, for about $65,000, you can find one that's very well equipped
06:18with tons of the features that you find in the Black Label at a very decently affordable price.
06:24Both the gas and the hybrid powertrains offer pretty respectable fuel efficiency.
06:29The hybrid averages around 30 miles per gallon in combined driving,
06:33while the gas version delivers about 24 miles per gallon.
06:38At first glance, that difference might not seem like enough,
06:41but over time, you're going to notice it at the pump.
06:44Now, let's be real here.
06:46The hybrid engine is not just more fuel efficient, it's also the better performing option.
06:58So there you have it.
06:59Motortrend's 2025 SUV of the year is the Lincoln Nautilus, an outstanding midsize luxury SUV.
07:07If this is the start of something new at Lincoln, we can't wait to see what's in store.
