Veuer's Elizabeth Keatinge tells us about a new study explaining why kids may gather more information than they need.

00:00They just won't stop.
00:03Are you saying this about your kids?
00:04Well, they may be over-exploring because they're just wired to do that.
00:09A new study published in Psychological Science says kids gather more information than they
00:14need.
00:15When asked to identify a fictitious animal, even after gathering the information they
00:20needed to solve the puzzle, the kids continued to pursue more information.
00:25Why they kept going is unclear.
00:27Maybe they enjoyed the process.
00:29Or perhaps children of this age, 4-5 years old, don't have a fully developed memory.
00:34Researchers say as children's working memory develops, so too should their confidence in
00:39what it can do.
00:41This results in more adult-like behavior.
00:44In the meantime, it's probably wise to have plenty of puzzles and games on hand.
