00:00We're finally looking at the Mi Band 6.
00:06Good day, you beautiful people. Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:12Like I said, we're checking out the Mi Band 6 today, looking at what's new,
00:16and putting it to the exercise test.
00:18So the Mi Band 6 looks like the Mi Band 5, except for one main difference.
00:23One that's hard to miss when you see them side by side. The screen.
00:27The latest Mi Band now features this even bigger AMOLED display,
00:32which I think looks way better because it's round.
00:35And the better to display the many cute band faces with.
00:38Depending on the watch face, you can also customize what's on the screen.
00:42It's pretty responsive, and it can also get bright enough to see outdoors.
00:47You navigate through this thing via swipe since there are no buttons, physical or otherwise.
00:52Swiping left or right brings you to widgets, and swiping up or down brings you to your apps.
00:57You can also reorganize apps and widgets depending on your needs on the app.
01:01And speaking of app, the Mi Band 6 connects to your phone via Bluetooth with the Xiaomi Wear app.
01:08This is the new Xiaomi wearable app that works with the Mi Watch and the Mi Watch Lite.
01:12I have videos of both those watches on the channel, so I'll put the link up here and down below.
01:17So the older Mi Band 5 connected to a different app, the Mi Fit app, which was less cute,
01:22but I liked it because it was Xiaomi's all-around app for all smart wearables,
01:25including their scale, which I had.
01:26But the Mi Band 5 did not connect to this newer app.
01:29This new Mi Band supposedly connects to both apps, which should solve the problem.
01:33I say supposedly because even if this has been announced,
01:36this band has not been released in the market yet.
01:39And so when I tried to connect it to both apps to try it out,
01:41I couldn't because the apps have not been updated.
01:45Anyway, those updates should come and you should be able to connect it to both.
01:50And yes, it does work with other phones, including iPhones.
01:53And actually in this video, I connected it to my iPhone to test it out.
01:56This band will give you your phone notifications.
01:59No photos though, and no replying from the band.
02:03You can also customize which notifications you get on your wrist on the app.
02:07And there's a find my phone function.
02:11And oh my god, a camera shutter function.
02:14And yes, this works even on non-Xiaomi phones because it worked on my iPhone.
02:18On the app, you get a preview of what this band can do.
02:21It tracks your steps, it tracks your sleep, right down to your very sleep stages.
02:27It tracks heart rate with 24x7 tracking and as little as 1-minute frequencies.
02:33And it also tracks your blood oxygen levels,
02:36which is useful to have so that now you can monitor your SpO2 levels in the wake of COVID.
02:41But also remember that this isn't a medically precise device
02:45and that this shouldn't be used in lieu of actual medical treatment.
02:48It's just good to have for monitoring basically.
02:51This thing also gives you a PAI score, which is Xiaomi's health algorithm
02:55taking everything together and giving you a score for fitness,
02:59which was pretty bad for me at first, but I mean, we're getting there.
03:03This band also measures VO2 max, your stress levels,
03:07even going as far as having a breathing meditation app,
03:11which we all really could use right now.
03:14And it also measures your energy levels.
03:16There's also a menstrual tracker,
03:18which is honestly very much appreciated by women like yours truly.
03:23So the Mi Band 6 has been on my wrist for a week or so,
03:26and like its predecessor, I truly appreciate that it's so light and easy to wear,
03:31therefore making it easier to keep on my wrist.
03:34It doesn't bother me to wear even if I'm just at home or even when I'm sleeping.
03:37And it's even waterproof, so when this pandemic ends and we can leave our house,
03:41I can even take it swimming.
03:43In the meantime, my aquariums will have to do for waterproof tests.
03:48And of course, I couldn't resist.
03:50I love how you can just buy new bands for this band and get them for really cheap
03:54because now this fits my life aesthetic, my pink life aesthetic.
04:01So yes, this does fit the Mi Band 5 straps,
04:04and also yes, like the Mi Band 5, you need not take the strap off to charge.
04:09This thing does come with a charger,
04:11that's the only thing it comes with in a pretty straightforward box.
04:15Charging for me took an hour to 35 minutes.
04:18Don't ask why I was doing a charge test at midnight.
04:21Battery time according to Xiaomi is at 2 weeks,
04:24which holds up because I've only ever had to charge this twice,
04:27once when I got it and another time around 5 days ago,
04:31and it's been 3 weeks since I've gotten this band.
04:34Take note though that this of course varies depending on use
04:37and what you have turned on on the band.
04:40There are 30 exercises on here and auto-detect functions
04:44for stuff like walking, treadmill, cycling, rowing, machine, elliptical.
04:49There is however no built-in GPS.
04:52Of course, I did some exercise testing,
04:54which may or may not be an excuse to force myself to exercise.
04:58For each exercise, you can set goals to duration or calorie consumption,
05:03and other exercises like walking or running, you can set to distance.
05:07For this specific exercise I'm trying, you can also set to count.
05:12So basically, that means that this band can count
05:15how many skips I do when I skip rope.
05:19It's pretty cool how it does that.
05:21Of course, I put it to the test and counted,
05:23and it was usually around 1 to 5 skips off.
05:26Small enough margin of error for me.
05:28Now, this excited me because based on my personal experience,
05:32only a premium wearable has given me the option to auto-count reps.
05:36And here we are with a budget tracker auto-counting skips.
05:40So I tried to see if weight training would have the same auto-count feature for reps,
05:43and tried to do freestyle exercises, which is the one with the weights on it.
05:47It didn't seem to do that, but I got a good exercise session in.
05:52TY me, Ben, for forcing me to exercise.
05:54And might I just add that there's no one wearable that will instantly make you fit.
05:58It's just a way to track your progress,
06:00but all the effort still lies in you, my friend.
06:03You can do it.
06:04Screen size may have changed,
06:06but what remains is the fact that the latest Mi Band is still the wearable to beat.
06:11In terms of function and in terms of price,
06:14this thing retails for 45 euros.
06:17And also, considering it's tiny, it's amazing just how feature-packed this is.
06:21I mean, the previous Mi Bands were too,
06:23but I was still amazed at how feature-packed those tiny bands were as well.
06:28Xiaomi's Mi Band 6 certainly did not disappoint,
06:31and I thoroughly enjoyed having this thing on my wrist.
06:34Let me know what you guys think about this Mi Band,
06:36and let me know if you think it's worth it to upgrade.
06:39That's it for today, you guys.
