From a wild woods spooky trail and tractor rides to a pumpkin patch, we discover how Swithens Farm in Rothwell are celebrating Halloween.

00:00We started off with Open Farm Sunday which was an initiative for farmers to show the
00:07general public how they worked and we started with that and realised that everybody was
00:12interested in what we were doing and that was when we opened officially to the public
00:16and we are what we are today.
00:18Swithin's Farm can be found 20 minutes drive south of Leeds City Centre in Rothwell and
00:23it's home to an array of animals attracting visitors all year round. At this time of year
00:29though, spooky season sees the trees taken over and a tractor ride takes you to the Pumpkin
00:34Patch as owner Angela Broadhead explains.
00:37It's one of our busiest times, everybody loves pumpkin picking and people who come, come
00:44to see the animals but on top of that they can also come and look round the scary woods,
00:49we have a real witch in there, she hands out bags of sweets so she's not really that scary.
00:55And then they come and pick their pumpkin, go back onto the farm and we help them carve
00:58them as well.
00:59We've done it year on year and the reaction that we get from people is absolutely amazing,
01:05they love it, they have a tractor ride up to the woods, they all love the tractor ride
01:09and they all put their pictures all over social media so we know that they do have a really
01:14good day.
01:15We do have a scary woods but it's not that scary because it's aimed at five year olds
01:20and it's something that all the family can enjoy.
01:23Most people just do the traditional jack-o-lanterns, some people, we've got one with Swithin's
01:28farm written on, but this is the normal kind of thing that people make and we do help them
01:34carve them and they can take them home and save them till Halloween.
01:38Swithin's farm is a working farm and we invite visitors to come and see how we work.
01:45So we're not a polished visitor attraction, we are very rustic but we've got lots of animals
01:52to see, lots of playground, we also have a small indoor play and a cafe so there is something
01:58for everyone.
