00:00Two parents groups have raised concerns over the lack of concrete initiatives in the 2025
00:07budget to strengthen students' mastery of the English language.
00:11Noor Azima Rahim, chairman of Parent Action Group for Education, said the budget does
00:17not provide significant allocations to enhance students' English proficiency, despite Prime
00:22Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressing the importance of the language.
00:26She also questioned the lack of allocation for strengthening the dual-language program.
00:32Mark Chee Kin, chairman of Melaka Action Group for Parents in Education, echoed similar concerns,
00:39noting that while Anwar highlighted the importance of English during the budget presentation,
00:44no specific funding was dedicated to it.
00:47Mark urged the government to take decisive action to improve English language skills,
00:52particularly as it aligns with the nation's goal of training more experts in artificial
00:58intelligence.
00:59Meanwhile, President of Ikatan Guru Muslim Malaysia, Azizi Hassan, said the budget's
01:05RM2 billion allocation for upgrading and maintaining school infrastructure and digital facilities
01:11would help bridge the gap between rural and urban schools.
01:15However, he expressed concern that no special grants were included to support teachers in
01:21enhancing their teaching standards.
