00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be talking about 5 compact smartphones that you guys should check out today.
00:05And you can say that these phones have small screens because compared to most phones these days,
00:10you know, they are at 6.8 inches and that's one of the big complaints I get is,
00:14can you recommend any phones under 6 inches?
00:16There's not really a ton of phones, so you're limited, honestly,
00:20but I do have some and I've used them all and I have smaller hands myself,
00:25so these are all, I can confirm, very comfortable.
00:27The Asus Zenfone 9 is literally the best compact smartphone this year.
00:32It is just awesome. It checks all the boxes off, in my opinion.
00:35It feels great in the hand, aluminum frame.
00:38It does have a plastic back, but it is a textured back,
00:40and I think it still retains a premium feel and look to it.
00:43It's IP68 dust and water resistant.
00:45It has a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED display.
00:48It's HDR10+, 1100 nits peak brightness, 1080p panel, 445 for the PPI.
00:55This is a beautiful, bright panel, and like I said, it's very easy to one-hand.
00:59This phone, it is running Android 12 with ZenUI,
01:02and ZenUI is actually pretty close to stock Android.
01:05It just has a few, like, little Asus things,
01:07but it's actually very close to stock Android, so it's very clean looking.
01:10Snapdragon 8GM1 Plus chip on here,
01:13and then this phone can basically game pretty much anything,
01:17so Fortnite, Call of Duty, PUBG.
01:19It plays it at high settings.
01:21This is a beast when it comes to gaming performance.
01:23Now, you have a 128 gig and 8 gig version.
01:26I believe that's the version that I have,
01:28and you also have what's very cool on here is a headphone jack.
01:32Not many flagship phones have a headphone jack.
01:35This one does.
01:36Not only that, but it has some amazing stereo speakers as well, too.
01:39Very loud bass quality.
01:41Just overall, really good full sound for such a small phone.
01:44You also have NFC on here.
01:46The fingerprint scanner is physical, and it's side-mounted.
01:48That works really well, and this phone, in my opinion,
01:51does have very good cameras.
01:53It's a 50-megapixel standard, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide,
01:56and yes, it's missing a telephoto lens,
01:58but honestly, the cameras are really good on here.
02:00It's 8K24 and then a 12-megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K30.
02:05You're getting phenomenal shots on here,
02:07very high-quality, flagship-quality shots, in my opinion,
02:10so I was really impressed with the image quality on this phone,
02:13and the biggest surprise here is that battery life is actually good on this phone,
02:18and that is a massive surprise,
02:20since you can't say that about most phones that are small.
02:22This has a 4,300 mAh battery, 30-watt charging,
02:26easily, easily gets through 6 hours of screen on time.
02:29I would argue even 7.
02:31So, this phone is just a phenomenal buy.
02:33Alright, guys, if you can't afford the Zenfone 9,
02:36the predecessor is very good as well, the Zenfone 8.
02:39So, this is a very awesome phone.
02:41Again, this one actually has a glass-backed aluminum frame,
02:44and it feels really premium in the hand.
02:46Also, still the same 5.9-inch display as Super AMOLED,
02:49HDR10+, 1100 nits peak brightness, 1080p, 440x640 PPI.
02:55Literally the same display, same dimensions, all that good stuff,
02:58and it's a very easy phone to hold.
03:00This phone also got the Android 12,
03:02and this phone has the Snapdragon 888 processor,
03:05so, again, really no difference from the 8Gen1 to the 888.
03:09This one still plays games the same.
03:11It still runs the same as well, too,
03:14as far as just smoothness and everything.
03:16So, you're not really going to find a big performance difference.
03:19You will with benchmarks slightly,
03:21but, again, virtually the same.
03:23You also have 128 gigs of internal storage,
03:268 gigs of RAM on this one,
03:29and you can find this for, like, $450.
03:32So, like I said, you can't afford a $650 phone,
03:35then go with this one.
03:36This is a little bit, you know, better priced.
03:38This one has stereo speakers as well, too.
03:40Pretty much the same quality.
03:42Very loud bass, very good mids and highs,
03:44you know, a full sound.
03:46And then this one also has the headphone jack as well, too,
03:48which is nice.
03:49Fingerprint scanner.
03:50Here's under the display, so that works really well.
03:53And then this phone has pretty good camera setup.
03:56It's a 64-megapixel standard with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide,
03:59and then it shoots in 8K24,
04:01and then a 12-megapixel standard that shoots in 4K30.
04:05And image quality is also pretty good in here.
04:07You guys can see the pictures kind of speak for themselves.
04:09I thought the image quality was good.
04:11Great color, good dynamic range.
04:13And again, this one doesn't have any type of telephoto lens,
04:16but honestly, if you can get over that,
04:18it takes some great shots.
04:19So, I was really impressed with that.
04:21Now, the battery life is not as good on this one.
04:23It's 4,000 milliamps with 30-watt charge.
04:26It's not as good as the Zenfone 9.
04:28So, this phone typically ran around 4 hours and 30 minutes,
04:31which is fine, again,
04:33but that's not technically a full day of use.
04:36So, definitely keep that into consideration.
04:38All right, guys, next we got the iPhone 12 mini,
04:40and this phone got a pretty nice price cut
04:43at around 300 bucks on Amazon right now,
04:46and it's pretty impressive for that price.
04:48I mean, 300 bucks for, you know,
04:50basically a flagship phone still.
04:52And this phone, again, very small.
04:55It is a glass and metal phone.
04:57IP68 dust and water resistant as well, too.
05:00And then you also have a beautiful display on here.
05:03It's a 5.4-inch Retina XDR OLED display,
05:06and it does do 1,200 nits peak brightness.
05:09It's 1080p, 476 for the PPI,
05:12and it's a very nice display quality-wise,
05:14really nice to look at,
05:16really nice to watch videos on.
05:18And like I said, 5.4 inches.
05:20This phone is extremely comfortable
05:22for anybody with smaller hands.
05:24There's not a ton of reaching
05:26that you really have to do with this phone.
05:28And what's great about this phone
05:30is for the $300 price point,
05:33this phone flies, so it's extremely fast
05:36when it comes to just gaming,
05:39bouncing in and out of applications.
05:41Anything you throw at this phone,
05:43it will perform excellent.
05:45So really, really impressed
05:47with performance on this phone.
05:49It also has 64 gigs of internal storage
05:51and 4 gigs of RAM.
05:53On the base model, if you pay a little bit more,
05:55you can get the 128-gig version as well, too.
05:58Now, you also have stereo speakers on this guy as well.
06:01They have pretty good bass quality.
06:03And then you also have NFC with Face ID as well.
06:07So the highlight on this phone,
06:09I think the cameras are still really good
06:11on the 12 Mini.
06:13The 12-megapixel standard
06:15with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
06:17It also shoots in 4K60
06:19with a 12-megapixel selfie cam.
06:21That also shoots in 4K60.
06:23I still think you get really great
06:25flagship-quality shots.
06:27And again, I want to go back to the price.
06:29Very impressive shots.
06:31Excellent video.
06:33It takes, basically,
06:35flagship-quality photos here.
06:37So again, no issues.
06:39Great dynamic range, great detail,
06:41great ultra-wide cam.
06:43Just a very impressive phone.
06:45So the only downside to this phone
06:47is that battery life is definitely
06:49not all day.
06:51It's somewhat decent.
06:53I can get around close to 5 hours of screen-on time.
06:55But for a phone to last a full day,
06:57I can get around that 6 hour, 6 hour 30 minute mark.
06:59And this phone just can't get it.
07:01So battery life,
07:03just know that
07:05you might have to bring a battery pack
07:07if you're a harder user.
07:09If you're a lighter user,
07:11you have to be conscious of keeping a charger around with this phone.
07:13Now, you do have
07:15wireless charging with the MagSafe.
07:17And then you also have just your standard
07:19wireless charging.
07:21So that's pretty nice as well too.
07:23But overall, for $300,
07:25it's easy to hold, really nice design.
07:27You know,
07:29there's just a lot to like about this phone.
07:31I think the only downside is battery life
07:33is just a little bit sub-par.
07:35Next is the iPhone 13 mini.
07:37This is another awesome smaller flagship phone
07:39that I think you guys will really like.
07:41The price is coming down on this phone every year.
07:43So it's at a pretty good price right now.
07:45I think it's sitting at around $600-$500.
07:47And I really like
07:49the design on here.
07:51Again, looks really good.
07:53It has the
07:55XDR OLED display on here.
07:57It gets up to 1200 nits peak brightness
07:59at 5.4 inches.
08:011080p, 476 for the PPI.
08:03So overall, again, high quality.
08:05Very beautiful display.
08:07Really, the only thing this display is missing is like
08:09high refresh rate.
08:11But this phone running iOS 16.
08:13It has the Apple A15 chip.
08:15Extremely powerful chip, guys.
08:17Absolutely beast. If you buy this phone,
08:19you really won't have to upgrade for years and years
08:21to come because it's just going to be blazing fast.
08:23You also have 128 gigs
08:25of internal storage and 4 gigs
08:27of RAM on here.
08:29The stereo speakers are actually pretty impressive on here.
08:31Great bass quality. Very loud.
08:33NFC is on board.
08:35Face ID, of course, is here.
08:37You also have a very good camera setup.
08:39A 12 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel
08:41ultrawide. It basically takes
08:43flagship quality photos, guys.
08:45You can basically put it on par with
08:47an iPhone 13, 13 Pro.
08:49It's 4K60
08:51on here for the front and back with a
08:5312 megapixel selfie. So overall,
08:55you already know what you're getting into.
08:57Great images on the
08:5913 mini. Now this phone does
09:01have actually pretty good battery life as well
09:03too. This has a 2438
09:05milliamp battery and then
09:07you also have wireless charging with the
09:09MagSafe wireless charging.
09:11Basically, this phone can
09:13pretty much do about 6 hours of screen
09:15on time. For me personally, especially
09:17if you're not like a heavy gamer,
09:19battery life is pretty good thanks to that
09:21A15 chip. Alright guys,
09:23next is the S10e. So you can find
09:25this for around $200.
09:27I still really like the design on here.
09:29It's aluminum frame. It's got a spec.
09:31It's IP68. You also have
09:33a 5.8 inch dynamic AMOLED.
09:35It's HDR10 plus at 1080p
09:37438. Again, another
09:39phone that is very easily
09:41one handable. And then you also have
09:43Android 12 with
09:45MI 4.1. This phone is currently
09:47in its security patch stages as
09:49well too. You have the Snapdragon 855.
09:51I did a gaming test guys. Check
09:53it out. This phone still plays games
09:55really, really well. Call of Duty,
09:57PUBG, it was like blowing through it like
09:59it was nothing. You also have
10:01micro SD card support on here so you
10:03can expand the storage. And you
10:05also have a headphone jack on here
10:07with stereo speakers, NFC,
10:09Samsung desktop support.
10:11All the bells and whistles are actually
10:13still on here. You also have a
10:15fingerprint scanner side mounted. It's
10:17physical and that works really well.
10:19And you also have on this
10:21phone, I think pretty good cameras. Now I'm not going to
10:23say the best cameras. This is probably
10:25compared to the rest of the phones, it's
10:27probably like number 4 on the list
10:29of the best cameras. It has a 12 megapixel
10:31standard and a 16 megapixel
10:33ultrawide. It shoots in 4K 60 on the
10:35front and back. And then you have a 10 megapixel
10:37selfie cam. It takes
10:39very good shots on here.
10:41If you're looking for the best camera, I would look at one of the
10:43Asus or one of the iPhones.
10:45But I still think it takes great
10:47shots
10:49especially in good lighting and stuff like that.
10:51I honestly don't see
10:53any issues with this phone.
10:55You also have a
10:573100 mAh battery. It does
10:59have wireless charging and reverse
11:01wireless charging so you can charge up another
11:03device. But again, this is one of those phones that
11:05can only get you around 4 hours
11:07and 30 minutes of screen on time.
11:09So you're not going to get a full day
11:11of use out of this phone.
11:13But that's pretty much it guys.
11:15Be sure to let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next
11:17video.
