00:00What's up guys, I wanted to revisit the Galaxy A34 since it got the One UI 6 update.
00:06It was one of my favorite mid-range phones that we've looked at this year and I like
00:11to, you know, throw this phone in there for people who don't want an older flagship because
00:16you guys know at this price range of about like, you know, $230, I would recommend a
00:21S21 FE.
00:22It's just a better phone, you know, overall.
00:25And some people, they just want a new phone and also this phone also has SD card support
00:31which I think is pretty nice as well too.
00:33That's a feature that a lot of people like but, you know, sometimes I will bring on mid-range
00:37phones on the channel because I know some people that really, you know, are looking
00:41for a mid-range phone but this phone in particular is pretty good because the chipset on it is
00:45really nice.
00:46So we'll go ahead and talk about that.
00:48But yeah, you can see brand new, you can get it on Amazon, eBay, $239.
00:52So let's go ahead and talk about One UI 6.
00:54It's a very smooth experience and I think the One UI 6 update definitely made the animations
01:00and everything a little bit smoother as well too on this phone which is really impressive
01:04because, you know, back when a couple years ago I would look at mid-range phones and they
01:09were never this smooth.
01:11Like, it's really impressive how far these mid-range phones have come.
01:15I mean, you would see like a lot of lag on mid-range phones even like, you know, four
01:20or five years ago at this price point.
01:22So for $200, cheap phones are getting really, really good guys.
01:27But like I said, you know, I still would recommend like a S21 FE but I'm actually pretty impressed
01:32with this phone every time I use it.
01:34So you can see right there, that's sometimes you get like that little stutter on Google
01:38Now but you can see it goes away.
01:41But other than that, I've never really had this phone really like lagging and stuff like
01:45that.
01:46It's really, really impressive how fast the phone is.
01:49So the One UI 6 update, very nice.
01:51You get a lot of the features you would get, you know, in the newer phones of course.
01:55I do have a video going over One UI 6 but if you're curious about the update, battery
02:00life is still good and performance I think is actually a little bit better.
02:04Let's talk about the display on the A34.
02:07It's not a bad display at all.
02:09It's actually a pretty good display.
02:10It's a Super AMOLED display and it is a 120Hz display.
02:14It has a 1000 nits brightness on here so it gets fairly bright enough.
02:19In direct sunlight, you can still kind of see it.
02:21It's not like it's completely unseeable.
02:24But the display is a little nice.
02:26We do have the little water drop notch design which is an older design but again this is
02:31a $200 phone.
02:32But as far as display quality, it's actually very good.
02:35Colors look very nice and vibrant.
02:36Like I said, the display I think is bright enough.
02:39And yeah, I was pretty impressed, 120Hz so it feels smooth.
02:43This is a pretty, you know, decent sized phone.
02:46It's a 6.6 inch display.
02:49It's completely flat of course and of course you got, you know, a little bit of bezel here
02:52but like I said, it's a budget phone, right?
02:55But the display, quality wise, is pretty good guys.
02:58Like I said, it's bright and it's colorful.
03:01It's 120Hz, very smooth.
03:03I was pretty impressed.
03:04And like I said, I even actually like this phone a little bit more than the A54 which
03:10I'll talk about probably in another video but yeah, the display on here is actually
03:14pretty good guys.
03:15Alright, so here is, I still think one of the most impressive things about this phone
03:19is the Dimensity 1080 chipset on here.
03:22It's really phenomenal.
03:23Look at the scores we get on Geekbench, a 994 and 1977.
03:28You guys can see, you know, what it compares to.
03:31For a $200 phone, this is actually pretty impressive.
03:34So Dimensity 1080, we also have Mali-G68 GPU and then we have microSD card support so you
03:39can go ahead and expand the storage if you take a lot of video, download a lot of games
03:44and stuff like that.
03:45128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM is on board so if we hop into a game like PUBG,
03:51now this phone is not as well optimized as something like the S20 FE, right?
03:58That is going to be able to play games a little bit better.
04:02So I wouldn't necessarily say this is going to be the best option for gamers but I think
04:07it is a pretty decent gaming phone for, you know, the casual gamer, for somebody who casually
04:14comes in and plays PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile, stuff like that.
04:17But like I said, if you're trying to really do some gaming at a competitive level, again,
04:22go with an older flagship.
04:24So when it comes to a game like PUBG, we can play at pretty decent settings but we don't
04:29have HDR extreme as far as some of the higher settings you can get on an older flagship
04:37and even some older flagships do at 90 frames so that's why I said I would go with an older
04:43flagship if you're a competitive gamer, you just get better frame rates.
04:47But as far as the casual gamer, this is totally fine, guys.
04:50It plays PUBG really well, Call of Duty Mobile really well.
04:54Most games, like casual games, Subway Surfer, it has no job playing most games so if you're
04:59not really into gaming, obviously, you're not going to really care but if you're somebody
05:03that comes in and plays a couple matches, you can see it is a very smooth experience
05:08for the most part here.
05:10You don't have any problem with lag or even with any type of heating problems at all with
05:15this phone too.
05:17So I think overall, a respectable little $200.
05:20I'm telling you guys, back at like three, four years ago, you wouldn't be able to get
05:26these settings.
05:27You wouldn't be able to get this type of smooth gameplay on these type of budget phones because
05:32this is not really a mid-range phone, it's more of a budget phone.
05:38So yeah, so I'm actually just pretty impressed with how smooth the phone is in general.
05:42Alright, so I do want to touch on the hardware and it's a pretty nice looking phone for the
05:47most part.
05:48Now it does have a cheap feeling because it's all plastic but for the most part, I mean,
05:54it doesn't look like a cheap phone at all.
05:57This doesn't look like a $200 phone at all.
06:00It has the, pretty much like the flagship design that we see on the Galaxy S23 and stuff
06:05like that.
06:07It's a really nice looking phone to look at but like I said, it has that plasticky feel
06:11to it and it's very comfortable to hold as well too.
06:14It's curved on the edges so that's really nice.
06:18We also have the fingerprint scanner on here.
06:20It's not an ultrasonic one but it definitely gets your job done.
06:24You could also use the face unlock on this guy as well too.
06:29And you also have IP67 dust and water resistant on here so you can get this phone wet no problem
06:36so if you get it wet in the rain or drop something on it, it'll be perfectly fine.
06:42This phone does have stereo speakers.
06:44So you actually do have pretty decent speakers on here, pretty good amount of bass quality
07:09as well too.
07:10Overall, you get a pretty nice full sound even when you cover the bottom speaker.
07:15Now when it comes to the cameras on the A34, this is where I can kind of see where it's
07:20a budget phone and you really can only really see that if you take it out of any type of
07:26good lighting condition.
07:28So when you're outdoors, I think it takes just as good of photos as something like most
07:33mid-range phones.
07:34I think it's kind of up there but anything that's out of any kind of decent lighting
07:39And also the selfie cam I honestly didn't think was that good.
07:42It's a little soft and your skin tones are always kind of off for me.
07:47But the camera specs on here is a 48 megapixel standard and 8 megapixel ultrawide.
07:51It has a 5 megapixel macro and then it shoots in 4K 30 on the front and back and you have
07:57a 13 megapixel selfie cam on here.
08:01Like I said, the photos come out pretty good if you're in good lighting and again, this
08:06is a $200 phone so you pretty much expect this type of quality but I think dynamic range
08:14and overall color is decent when you're outdoors.
08:18I think it takes pretty good photos.
08:20Like I said, if you're not in any type of low light condition, then that's when you
08:25start getting just kind of soft photos and I don't think the video is also all that great
08:30if you're not in really good lighting.
08:33So yeah, the cameras on here are pretty decent for the most part.
08:37If you're outdoors, it'll do a really good job.
08:40If you're indoors or anything low light, then you'll notice kind of soft image quality
08:46for sure.
08:47But yeah, what do you guys think?
08:49Be sure to let me know what you think about the cameras.
08:52But yeah, that's pretty much what I think.
08:55Now I think battery life is also one of the impressive things with this phone.
08:59It has a 5,000 mAh battery and then you also have 25 watt wire charging.
09:04Of course, there's no wireless charging on this phone but battery life is really good.
09:10I think this is where this phone shines the most.
09:14It can easily go like two days of screen on time.
09:17So I was pretty impressed with the battery life for the most part.
09:20I had no issues.
09:21I never felt like I needed to charge this phone throughout the day or anything like
09:25that.
09:26It easily can go all day if not two days.
09:31It really doesn't matter whether you're playing games or whatever you're doing.
09:34The phone's battery life easily is an all day phone.
09:37So I was pretty impressed with that and it charges somewhat decently fast at 25 watts.
09:43So yeah, what do you guys think of the Galaxy A34?
09:46I think it's a pretty decent phone for the price.
09:50Really good display.
09:51I think the chipset on here is awesome.
09:53You've got micro SD card support.
09:55The build quality, it's what you would expect for $200 but everything else is really good
10:01with this phone.
10:02Like I said, it's fast and the cameras, like I said, the cameras you can kind of tell.
10:07If you want a mid-range phone with a really good camera, I personally would go for a Pixel.
10:12The A54 does a pretty decent job but even with that still, like I said, I would go with
10:18a Pixel or an older flagship if you're really into cameras.
10:21It's mid-range phones, like if you take them out, mid-range or budget phones, if you kind
10:25of take them out of certain lighting conditions, then you kind of, I don't know, you get kind
10:30of like an okay shot.
10:32It's not really that great.
10:34Be sure to let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
