00:00What's up guys, since I did the wrap up for the S24, the small one, I wanted to do the
00:05wrap up with the older Galaxy devices against the S24 Ultra.
00:10What I've noticed, and I do have individual comparisons of all of these phones, and it's
00:14been a minute since we got the S24 Ultra, and I just wanted to come back and just sort
00:21of make a reference point to the older Galaxy flagship phones here, and I don't consider
00:27the S22 and S23 to be old, but I want to focus on these, the S21, the Note20, S20 Ultra,
00:36and the Note10+, the bigger, older phones here.
00:39Alright, so after comparing all of these phones, the one thing that I noticed with the S24
00:46Ultra is that how similar the display is compared to the rest of the phones.
00:52It's really, really not that different.
00:53Even going all the way back to the Note10+, the Note10 still has 1440p display, a pretty
00:58high PPI, it's still got the same color profile, it's still got the same punch hole in the
01:04middle.
01:05The displays really have not changed throughout the years.
01:08The only thing that I think is really a big upgrade as far as the display is that the
01:14S24 does have a much higher max brightness in direct sunlight.
01:19It's very, very bright, and of course you have these minor differences, like the Note20
01:24Ultra can only do 120Hz at 1080p, but not that big of a difference.
01:31You will notice a difference coming from the Note10+, it not having 120Hz, you definitely
01:37will feel the difference as far as navigating the phones and stuff like that.
01:41But one of the things that Samsung did that I actually was not a big fan of was they switched
01:47to the boxy design, so they got rid of the S series phones, so you can see the S series
01:51phones, the S21 and the S20, have a more circular design, I don't know if that's a word, it's
02:00more curved at the edge, and it just feels way better in the palm compared to the S24
02:08which is extremely boxy in the hand, like it really cuts into the palm right here, and
02:14it just doesn't feel as comfortable as the S21 Ultra, so that's why I always say the
02:18S21 Ultra I think has one of the best displays Samsung has made, but honestly comparing and
02:25looking at all of these displays now, they all look really, really good still, so it's
02:32very impressive how Samsung has been doing excellent quality on their displays throughout
02:37the years.
02:38Now also what I found fascinating is that for the average person, and not really for
02:42the tech enthusiast and the gamer that's going to run benchmarks and all that stuff,
02:48for the average person if you bought a flagship, I would say Snapdragon 845, it's still going
02:55to feel very similar to the latest chipset on the Galaxy S24, even though we see these
03:01huge jumps in terms of CPU, GPU, I think at around the Snapdragon 845 is where the phones
03:11are just so fast and animations and everything are so smooth, so even if we look at the Note
03:1610+, it's still really smooth and it still works really fast even though it has a very
03:21low score in comparison to the S24 and the rest of the phones.
03:27It's still just a very fast phone in real life, that's why I try not to harp too much
03:32on benchmarks because it gives people the illusion that the phones are getting faster
03:37and they are in some regard for very heavy games and stuff like that, Genshin and just
03:43playing stuff at max if you're a gamer, but even if you're a gamer, like I'll show you
03:47with PUBG and Call of Duty, it's still going to feel the same.
03:50The only real difference is that the high refresh rate was introduced and again, the
03:55Note is the only phone, the Note 10 is the only phone without the 120Hz, but the Note
04:0020 Ultra still plays at 90 frames, PUBG, and it's just very similar.
04:05Even if we get into a little speed test with the oldest phone and the newest phone, let
04:10me exit that out, you can see the difference is not as big as you would think, boom, boom,
04:20see it's right behind it and it gets even closer once we go to the 865, the 888, it's
04:27really not that much now.
04:29There are a big difference in terms of cooling, I think when it comes to the Snapdragon 888
04:34chipset and the Agen 1, the new Galaxy phones, like the S23, S24, they do a really good job
04:43with cooling and being able to game for long periods of time without it getting really
04:46hot.
04:47I'm talking about for general use, the average person cannot tell the difference in terms
04:51of speed, it's extremely hard to tell the difference for the most part.
04:55The only thing you would really notice is the 120Hz, how smooth it feels, but in terms
05:00of loading and animations, the Note 10 Plus still feels really, really fast.
05:08This I think is even more close when you open up games like PUBG and stuff like that, so
05:15if we take something like the Note 20 Ultra, it feels extremely similar and will play at
05:21the same settings as the S24, it plays PUBG at 90 frames and it can pretty much play anything
05:27else in the Play Store really well, it's a very smooth and fast phone, and it's something
05:34that I've grown to really like for the most part.
05:41I really like to recommend these phones to people who are on a budget because you can
05:46pick up an S20 Ultra that plays also at 90 frames, you can pick that up for like 200
05:53bucks and you're good to go.
05:55You can play PUBG competitively at really smooth frame rates, and the Note 10 Plus is
06:00the only phone that can't do it because of the no high refresh rate, but it still plays
06:05at HDR Extreme as well too, so it's just really interesting how these older flagships are
06:13still able to game at such a cheap price, so I always try to throw that out there for
06:17my guys who are really into gaming, that you really don't need to spend a lot of money
06:22or you don't have to game at such low settings and get something like a Galaxy A15 for 200
06:28bucks and then play at bad settings, right?
06:30Alright, so we are at max volume, let's go ahead and compare these speakers starting
06:34with the 10.
06:52Alright, so the Note 20 definitely sounds much louder than the Note 10 and S20.
07:23The Note 10 Plus with the weakest speaker so far.
07:40They sound pretty close as well.
07:54There is a noticeable difference with the S24 definitely having the better speaker out
08:00of all of these phones.
08:01I think Samsung did a really, really good job with the speaker on here.
08:04It actually is a little bit louder than the rest of them and it actually sounds way cleaner
08:09as well.
08:25Yeah so I would say the S24 and then the Note 20 and then the S21 Ultra and then these
08:33two are pretty much tied, they almost sound identical.
08:36But yeah, really good speaker upgrade as far as the S24 goes, very impressed.
08:41Now let's talk about software.
08:43So software has not changed really at all, like the Note 10 Plus is still stuck on Android
08:4912, that was it's last major OS update but what I like that Samsung is doing with the
08:53S24 is that it gets 7 years of major OS updates which I think is definitely a big deal.
08:59That is a lot of, it's a lot of updates for the most part here, some of the most that
09:05we've seen on a smartphone now, I think on par with Google of course.
09:10But software wise, again not that big of a deal, like maybe a few years down the line
09:15what I predict is going to happen is that One UI is going to get extremely AI heavy.
09:24So we played around with some of the AI features and they do work pretty well for the most
09:31part and I think this is something that I think is just going to be implemented in the
09:35software more and more and more.
09:37So everything is going to be AI, you're going to see a lot of AI stuff and I think some
09:42of the stuff is cool like the circle to search, the live interpretation as well so you can
09:46do that, the keyboard as well too, the voice recorder being able to do transcripts pretty
09:52well, summarizing webpages, etc, the photo editor is also pretty decent.
09:58Now I think this AI stuff is just the start and I think down the line, a few years from
10:02now the OS will be just super super AI heavy and I think they're going to really be pushing
10:07that on us.
10:09But I think software wise they really have all the same stuff.
10:14Even if you go back to Android 12, this phone still has everything, desktop support, secure
10:19folders, it can still use Good Lock, there's almost no difference, you can't really tell
10:24the difference from just the older software but I do think the AI stuff is probably the
10:29biggest change and also them committing to very long software updates.
10:33I'm going to talk about hardware for a second here.
10:38So Samsung has made some very interesting hardware decisions over the past few years
10:45and I think that I really like the curved display and Samsung went away with it.
10:52I think the S21 did it the best.
10:56It's not like a dramatic curve like the Note 20 or the Note 10 but it's just a subtle curve
11:01and it still gives the phone I think that premium feel but they went completely flat
11:06and I definitely understand that because it's easier to put a screen protector on and a
11:13lot of people just like flat displays so I definitely get that.
11:18One thing that I really like and I really like the Aura Glow color on the Note 10 plus
11:23I think it just looks really cool still but yeah the S Pen still works the same it hasn't
11:30really changed that much and don't forget the S21 does have the S Pen support as well
11:36and hardware wise I really like the direction they're going in I just wish they would kind
11:41of go back to the you know the S21 design being a little bit more you know friendly
11:48in the hand I guess.
11:50Now when we talk about the cameras there have been some minor upgrades here and there.
11:57I think the zoom photography has gotten really good once you get to the S21 and up it's just
12:03really good it's noticeably better than the Note and the S21 and of course the Note 10
12:09plus but I think standard photos still look really good on all of these phones but yeah
12:15of course if you want the best photos the best videos you would go with the newer devices
12:19the S20 I would say S21 and up Note 20 you know and down you can definitely tell a difference
12:26in stills and the zoom quality and all that good stuff and also I just think Samsung has
12:34been making some really good decisions here I really like the 5x telephoto lens that they
12:39they went to on here I think it's really good for getting like portrait shots and stuff
12:43like that even though it kind of hurt the hundred times zoom and yeah I think low light
12:50photography has gotten better the S24 has a really really good camera system it's very
12:55very impressive but I think for the average person they'll notice a very minimal difference
13:01in my opinion like I said it's hard to really sell it up if you watch the comparisons and
13:07you know you look they they look pretty similar for the most part but yeah you will notice
13:15a difference the S24 it can take really good photos in any type of lighting situation but
13:22I noticed with the older phones Note 10, S20 you know Note 20 I noticed with these phones
13:30that in low light these phones will kind of suffer but if you're in good lighting these
13:35phones do a really good job day in the life with the Note 10 plus and you can just you
13:40know look at the photos it was just really really impressive and that the photos and
13:44video it was just it was pretty impressive low light it did kind of okay it wasn't as
13:50good as a little grainy and stuff like that but in good lighting this this thing takes
13:55really good photos so I would say if you take a lot of like low light photos it's worth
14:00the upgrade if you don't I wouldn't really upgrade for it you know honestly because the
14:05Note 10 plus it did an excellent job and you know same thing for the Note 20, S20 but if
14:13you take zoom photography a lot of zoom shots and also a lot of low light shots definitely
14:20S21 and up you'll be really good you'll be really happy with the results but if you don't
14:27it's not really worth the upgrade and lastly let's go ahead and talk about battery so this
14:33is a reason why a lot of people tend to upgrade their phones and I would say that if you're
14:38going to upgrade for battery I would get an S23 Ultra and save the money but the S24 is
14:44very impressive I would say the S24 and S23 is when Samsung pretty much stepped up their
14:49battery game everything below that the S22 on down I don't think has terrible battery
14:55life but the battery life is just kind of average it's not really bad or good for the
15:01most part you know if you're a light user you can squeeze six hours but I'm talking
15:04about for amazing battery life yeah the S23 and S24 are actually noticeably much much
15:11better when it comes to screen on time and yeah I've just been really impressed with
15:15using these phones so be sure to let me know what you guys thought which phone are you
15:21guys using which phone are you guys holding on to and I will catch you guys in the next
15:25one.
