Sarfira is a Hindi film released under the directive of Sudha Kongara. It is the 150th project of Akshay Kumar. This inspirational movie reveals the story of a middle-class man from Maharashtra, Vir Jagannath Mhatre, done by Kumar. An airplane was his dream, an air plane for everybody. The same story happened with G.R. Gopinath, founder of India's first low-cost airline, Air Deccan.
The movie interprets themes of grit, determination, and the fight against societal barriers, especially class and caste differences. Vir's life has lot of dualism, with a strong opposition from powerful aviation tycoon, **Paresh Goswami** played by Paresh Rawal, which represents the forces of vested interests. With Vir is his wife, Rani or Radhika Madan, who herself has ambitions to open a bakery and something so modern in 'tradition' is portrayed in this film.
Despite its heartfelt and inspiring core, it was really paned on length and melodrama and argued to have been tightened up with much more editing. However, performances have been praised in particular for Kumar and Madan regarding depth and authenticity. Overall, Sarfira is a film to inspire movie-going through a message on perseverance and ambition towards adversity.
