Newry City's second goal scorer Adam Carroll spoke to us post-match after his side defeated Newington 3-1.

00:00So Adam, three points on the board, happy with today's performance?

00:04Yeah, it wasn't pretty but sometimes it's not going to be like that.

00:08I thought we actually started the game well, we controlled most of the game

00:12and made one shot to score. It kind of sums up our season really.

00:16A fella puts a top end but at halftime we regrouped

00:20and showed character to come back in the second half. Was there anything said at halftime?

00:24I think you're probably fair to say these were on top but just against a run of play you conceded.

00:28Was that the message, just keep doing what you were doing?

00:30Exactly, just keep going. We had chances but it was just about being clinical.

00:34Luckily enough we got the goal straight away and that gave us a platform to build on.

00:40The boys showed great work ethic and yeah, good three points.

00:46Yeah, well I think there was one in the first half where I should have scored, I tried to dink it

00:50but it's about being in the right place at the right time.

00:54I got a good ball in and luckily enough I was there to hail it in.

00:58Look, it obviously has been a tough start to the season in terms of results.

01:02There's been a change in management and Darren Mullins has come back in.

01:04It's only been about two weeks or so now.

01:06Has much changed? Have you seen much in terms of game plan or the way he wants to play?

01:12Yeah, well literally it's just about hard work.

01:16Nury's a hard working community. I'm from Nury obviously myself and I know

01:20everything about Nury is hard work. That's the message from Darren really.

01:24Everybody work hard and give 100% and you work hard and your rewards will come.

01:36but is this something you can build upon?

01:38Yeah, obviously it's a slow start but I think we just needed that one win to give us a bit of confidence.

01:44We were lacking in confidence recently in recent weeks but hopefully today that gives us a boost

01:50going into Ballyclare next week and exactly the same today next week.

01:54Hopefully we can get another three points on the board.
