00:00comedy, drama, how do you approach this balance,
00:04especially in season two?
00:10I try to play them both as honestly as I know how.
00:14I think that that really is the secret to the show,
00:17is that, and maybe if this makes sense,
00:22we handle the dramatic scenes with some levity,
00:26and we handle the comic scenes very seriously.
00:29And I think that somehow that lands us
00:31at this unique tone you're talking about.
00:36I think dealing with hard stuff is funny,
00:39and I also think people laugh through really sad times,
00:42and so I think that's sort of the witch's brew of our show.
00:46Can you talk a little bit about how it's going to evolve
00:50Jimmy's relationship with his daughter this time?
00:55Yeah, season one, Alice is really taking care of Jimmy
00:58through his breakdown,
01:02when he is unable to be there for her,
01:05and he gets to the other side of that,
01:07and season two is about repairing the damage
01:09he did to that relationship with Alice,
01:11because she has no reason to ever trust him again.
01:14You're also a producer in the show.
01:19What do you enjoy the most
01:21about having this creative control,
01:25be able to tell the things you want to tell?
01:29Yeah, it's a good question.
01:35You know, I've written since I was young,
01:37and I've acted since I was young,
01:39and I've only directed once.
01:43But I just think there's, for me,
01:46the joy is in making stuff.
01:51Joy is in thinking of an idea
01:52and turning it into something real.
01:56So I really like having my fingers
01:57in all the different parts of that.
02:01How do you learn from Jimmy, from your character?
02:05That's a great question.
02:06That's what I'm trying to figure out every time I do a job.
02:12I think very much like this season,
02:16learning to go easier on yourself
02:19and realize that you can't be too hard on yourself
02:23for your own humanity is a lesson that we could all learn.
02:28What's the dynamic working with Harrison Ford on set?
02:32Man, it's just the best.
02:33Like, this guy is so talented and so kind
02:38and has so much experience to share
02:39and is also such a good friend.
02:43I never anticipated this being a chapter of my life,
02:47and it's about the coolest.
02:50And what can fans expect from season two?
02:54I think it's like a turbocharged season one.
02:57It's gotten funnier.
02:58It's gotten deeper.
03:02I think we're all really, we came in on fire
03:05to make it even better than the first season.
03:08Yes, that's correct.
03:10Thank you so much.
03:11Oh, cool.
03:12I love it.
03:13Hey, thank you.
03:14Thank you so much for your time.
03:16I appreciate you.
03:17Bye-bye.
03:18Thanks a lot.
