00:00Hey everyone! If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights without having to travel to the Arctic Circle, 2024 is your year.
00:08Thanks to an incredible solar event, people all across the UK have been treated to the stunning Aurora Borealis right from their backyards.
00:16And there's more to come!
00:18So, what's the deal?
00:20We're in the middle of a solar maximum, which means the Sun is more active than usual, sending out massive solar flares.
00:27These flares create those beautiful green, purple, and red lights dancing across the sky.
00:33Here's the science bit in super simple terms.
00:36The Sun shoots out charged particles that interact with Earth's magnetic field.
00:41When they collide with gases in our atmosphere, the sky lights up with the stunning colors we call the Northern Lights.
00:47Pretty cool, right?
00:49Now, if you're wondering where to catch the Northern Lights, the best spots are areas with low, artificial light.
00:55Think Cairngorms National Park in Scotland, or the Brecon Beacons in Wales.
00:59But even if you're down south, don't lose hope.
01:02Places like Southdowns National Park and the North York Moors are also great options.
01:07With more chances to see this spectacular show in 2024, don't miss out.
01:12Grab your coat, find a dark spot, and look up.
01:15You might just get lucky.
01:17Keep your eyes peeled, and we'll see you in the next video.
