00:00Mumbai police have arrested a minor in connection with online bomb threats made against three
00:06flights earlier this week.
00:08Indian airlines have received a series of threats in October targeting both domestic
00:13and international flights on social media, all of which have turned out to be false alarms.
00:18In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, India's civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu
00:25confirmed the arrest of a minor without disclosing the individual's identity.
00:30He dismissed conspiracy theories, but assured that action was being taken.
00:34We can't comment anything like a conspiracy, but whatever little bit we have known, it's
00:38coming from minors or some pranksters, generally for some very little petty things they are
00:44trying to do these kind of threats on the social media or through phone calls.
00:52So they are all very minor and isolated incidents.
00:54There is no kind of conspiracy that we can comment on.
00:57Local media reported that bomb threats were issued from an account on X, targeting two
01:02Indigo flights to Muscat and Jeddah and an Air India flight to New York, falsely claiming
01:08that armed militants with explosives were on board.
01:11Bomb threats are very serious issues.
01:13You would have seen in the last 24 or 48 hours several such threats have been issued.
01:18One of our Air India flights was grounded as well.
01:21Several other aircraft also received similar threats.
01:28Our agencies, Ministry of Home Affairs and other relevant agencies, they are looking
01:32into the matter and hopefully some arrests, I understand, have been made.
01:36Some FIRs have also been filed.
01:39Air India also reported that its New Delhi to Chicago flight was forced to land in Canada
01:44on Wednesday due to an online security threat, with passengers later flown to their destination
01:50by a Canadian Air Force plane.
01:53At least eight Indigo flights, three SpiceJet flights, two Vistara flights and four Air
01:58India flights received similar threats this week.
