00:00Hey, how's it going? Dave2D here. So, these are some new speakers from Razer. They're
00:09called the Razer Nomo, and they start at $99, which is relatively inexpensive for a pair
00:14of decent speakers. Now, they come in three variants. They have the base, $99 version.
00:19They have this one, which is $150, and they're adding RGB lighting, as well as a DAC. And
00:24then they have their super premium model, which is their $400 or $500 model. It's called
00:28the Noma Pro, and I was able to hear all of them at CES, and obviously the $500 one
00:33sounds the best. It's got THX certification and all that stuff, but I feel like these
00:37ones here are where it's at. These sound really good for the money. So, what makes these things
00:41different right away is their look. These don't look like your standard bookshelf speakers.
00:45Like if you go with the Klipsch, ProMedia, or Logitech speakers, they're just your standard
00:48bookshelf speakers. They have a certain kind of dull look to them. These don't look like
00:53that. These definitely have some gamer DNA in it. It looks more modern to me with a pretty
00:56clean aesthetic. Now, the build quality on this thing is, I mean, it's your average kind
01:01of build quality. It is plastic. It's not like wood or anything like that, but it's
01:04made well. There's three inch drivers up at the front, and then there's a base port on
01:07the back, and this one here, the $150 Noma Chroma, has RGB lighting that you can control
01:12in their software. Now, you can do some crazy stuff from there, or you can just keep it
01:15basic and use one of the profiles just to add some color to your setup. It is nice to
01:19have that availability, though. Now, in terms of connectivity, you get your power connection,
01:23and then on my model, because it's the Noma Chroma, it has a DAC, so you've got USB connectivity,
01:27and you have your regular auxiliary analog connection, and then your headphone jack.
01:31The controls are really simple. There's two knobs. There's a volume dial, and then there's
01:34a bass dial in it. First, when I was checking this thing out, I was like, what? They only
01:38have a bass dial? There's no treble controls? But the way that they've done it is actually
01:41really smart. The bass control has automatic gain, so if you increase or lower the bass,
01:46it automatically adjusts the EQ of the sound, so the bass will scale distortion-free. It's
01:50actually really nice to have your bass cranked up, your volume cranked up, and everything
01:53still sounds clear. So, how do these things sound? Honestly, they sound really good. I
01:57kind of expected them to sound not great, because it's a Razer product, right? Not that
02:02it would be bad, but Razer doesn't do speakers. They're not known for speakers, so when they
02:06bring this thing out, it's like, it looks cool, but are they really going to sound good?
02:11They do.
02:20For $99, I really like the audio quality from these, but where they shine is in games. The
02:44positional audio on these things are excellent. Those higher frequencies are really pronounced
02:48and clean, and you can hear footsteps well. I don't have a way to showcase the stereo
02:52separation properly with my mics, but I'm very comfortable gaming on this thing. Now,
02:57compared to other speakers that I've used for gaming, like the Klipsch ProMedia, or
03:00the Audioengine A2 Plus, or the Kanto YU6, these aren't like the best sounding things
03:05out there, that's all I'm trying to say, but they sound really, really good for the price,
03:09and I really like how these things handle the higher frequencies. When you lower the
03:11bass, you can really hear player locations on these speakers. Okay, there's a few things
03:16that I don't like about the NOMA speaker. The first is that it's a little top-heavy.
03:20I understand that that's the look, that's the design aesthetic they've gone for, but
03:23I wish the bass plate was a little bit wider, because right now, it's got this tendency
03:27to wobble a little bit if you hit it backwards, which is a little bit dangerous. The other
03:32thing I don't love is that the auxiliary and the headphone jack are on the back of the
03:35speaker, and I understand that for bookshelf speakers, that's pretty normal, but because
03:38these are gaming speakers, you kind of expect them to be closer up to the front, so that
03:41you can just access them easier, but that's just what we have here. And the last thing
03:46is I don't like how the Chroma version is $50 more. A lot of money for just RGB lighting
03:51and a USB connection, which, I don't know, doesn't really make that much sense to me.
03:54Okay, overall, great speakers for $99. I feel like these are, these aren't the speakers
03:59to beat, and I'm not saying these are like, you know, the best speakers out there for
04:01$99, but if you like something that looks a little bit different, looks pretty cool,
04:05and has that way to complement your setup with different colors and stuff, you should
04:09check these things out. Okay, hope you guys enjoyed this video. Thumbs if you liked it,
04:12subs if you loved it. See you guys next time.
