00:00So, in typical Razer fashion, they have once again expanded their repertoire of mice.
00:10We have not one, not two, but two new mice from Razer.
00:15We have the Basilisk version 2 as well as the DeathAdder version 2.
00:20Now I'm going to focus this video on the DeathAdder because this is like, this was my very first
00:24gaming mouse.
00:25Not this one, but the one from like 2006 or whatever.
00:29This is an extremely popular mouse.
00:32This shape has been like, this has been in so many people's hands.
00:35I think they sold 10 million mice over the years.
00:39I actually don't know why they call this one version 2.
00:41They've sold so many and so many iterations and variations of this thing.
00:44It's like probably version 17 at this point, but it is called version 2 and they've changed
00:50a whole bunch of stuff.
00:51Like they've changed the cables, the sensors, the switches.
00:53We'll get into it, but the one thing that is like the most unique change to this iteration
00:58and maybe this is why they're calling it version 2, is the shape has been slightly tweaked.
01:03All the earlier versions of DeathAdders have had this area on the right hand side of the
01:08mouse, kind of like the top right, where your fingers rest that just, it flared out in a
01:12particular way that was uncomfortable for people that had smaller hands.
01:17This new version 2, they've just shaped it slightly different.
01:20It doesn't flare out as wide as it used to and it's just like a, it's a nicer feel in
01:24most hands.
01:26People that have giant hands won't notice it or they may even prefer the older style,
01:30but I think the average hand size, you'll appreciate this slight adjustment to the shape
01:34of the mouse.
01:35But the overall design and ergonomic fit of the DeathAdder remains unchanged and it's
01:39a good thing.
01:40There's a reason why there's 10 million of these things sold.
01:43It is a very popular design.
01:46So they've changed a couple other things.
01:47The sensor has been upgraded to the new optical sensor, the Focus Plus from Razer.
01:53I think it's actually the best sensor on the market right now, better than anything
01:55that Logitech has.
01:57We've seen it on the Viper Ultimate, as well as some new switches, these are optical switches
02:01now.
02:02They have new feet, PTFE material, very slick, very smooth.
02:06And the cable, it's also this new SpeedFlex material.
02:08We've seen this on basically all the 2019 mice that Razer put out and this has all been
02:13put into their DeathAdder.
02:16And they did all of this while reducing the weight of this mouse.
02:19It's now an 82 gram mouse.
02:21The last iteration of the DeathAdder was, I think, over 100 grams.
02:25That was probably my personal reason as to why I switched off of the DeathAdder.
02:28They were just getting heavier and in like 2018 when lighter mice were being introduced,
02:33I didn't like that whole heavy mouse feel, especially for first person shooters.
02:37So I switched off of it primarily because of the weight and I don't know if I'll switch
02:41back to this because I do like, I like the Viper, the other mouse that Razer makes, but
02:46if you were someone that was drawn to its shape and its size and you just like the ergonomic
02:50feel of a DeathAdder, this is a really nice update.
02:53They've also added onboard memory.
02:55So one of the things I've always disliked about basically every Razer product is their
03:00software.
03:01They run this thing called Synapse and it is, it's big, it feels clunky and honestly
03:05it can be really buggy sometimes.
03:07I do not like installing any of their software on any of my things, not their laptops, certainly
03:12not for their mice.
03:13And because this thing now has onboard memory, you can just install it once, set up your
03:17colors, set up your button configurations, your DPI settings, and just delete that thing
03:22from your system forever because you just store all your settings onto the mouse and
03:27you're good to go.
03:28If you ever want to adjust that stuff in the future, you'd have to do it all over again,
03:31but just keeping Synapse on your system is, I hate that thing.
03:35So who is this mouse for?
03:37Well, for people that enjoy the DeathAdder ergonomics, this is an easy upgrade.
03:41Like if you have an older one that's broken or about to die, nice pickup.
03:46For people that want a lighter mouse that is shaped but you didn't want the honeycomb
03:51pattern and you also like the features that Razer provides on their mice, this is definitely
03:55a good thing to check out.
03:57The Basilisk.
03:58So this is, it has the same kind of internal hardware in terms of like the sensor, the
04:03switches, the cables, the PTFE feet on the bottom.
04:07It's also been updated, but I've never been drawn to the shape of the Basilisk.
04:11This is most similar to the Logitech G502.
04:15It's for people that like that design aesthetic and that ergonomic fit, but it's just never
04:18been for me.
04:19I've always been more of an ambidextrous mouse person or the old school DeathAdder feel,
04:24but they've both been updated.
04:26There you have it.
04:27Hope you guys enjoyed it.
04:28Thumbs if you liked it.
04:29Subs if you loved it.
04:30See you guys next time.
