00:00The Hungry Guy, Mr Steve Guy, hello sir! How are we doing? I'm alright, yeah you're in
00:20the thick of it here aren't you? Absolutely, we're 15 minutes from service. So it's Colham
00:25Primary School and you represent Shrewsbury Food Hub and what's the day all about then?
00:31Just getting kids engaged in food? Yeah, so what this is all about is trying to give kids
00:36some confidence, trying to build their skills, give them some confidence in the kitchen and
00:40sort of show them as well that cooking requires a lot of different elements outside of just
00:46the food and just the serving of food. It's the creativity, it's the teamwork, the resilience,
00:51time pressure, which is where we're at now. What's on the menu today Steve? So we're doing
00:56a bit of a Mexican feast today. We've got some kind of tina bean mix that we've made,
01:02there's a tomato salsa, we've got some corn tortillas, we've got some cheese, we've got
01:06some rice cooking. So hopefully these guys are going to serve the tables, take the orders
01:12and hopefully all the grown-ups are going to have a delicious meal. Is that mums and dads
01:16that are coming in then? Yeah, mums, dads, grown-ups, whoever's been invited. Fantastic,
01:20well done. My sister's in the school of three and she's allowed to come. She's coming? Oh,
01:29there we go. You're just doing a taste test aren't you girls? What's it taste like?
01:35Yeah, a bit hot and a bit spicy. A bit spicy, what do you think young lady? Good?
01:46Is it good? Yeah, cool.
01:50The oil that we're going to cook with and the oil we're going to use is olive oil, okay?
01:59The limes are very good aromas, I like it guys. So you're already smelling the food, that's great.
02:06So if you guys can carefully take the lids off for me
02:10and I'm going to put the oil in so we don't end up deep frying.
02:13So we're going to use some spices, we're going to use some herbs, we're going to use
02:20a little bit of salt, a little bit of sugar, we're going to use a bit of lime, okay? So there
02:23are four flavours that we're going to try and get when we cook. Can anyone think,
02:28like when you taste something, like a general kind of type of flavour, what might you get?
02:34Sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, yeah? Salty. Salty, nice.
02:39So what is it you're up to there, young lady?
02:47Is that to make the table pretty? Oh yeah, nice.
02:57What does that do, young lady? What does that device do?
03:02It chops the things up, is that what it does? I've not seen one of those.
03:05Who remembers the French for what we're doing? What's it called?
03:12To be ready, remember what the French was to be ready?
03:21You've been having fun, mate? You've been having fun? Yeah, good stuff.
