00:00What does it mean to be able to read the numbers?
00:04To be able to read the numbers also means to be able to read the reality that surrounds us.
00:11In our idea of statistics, to be able to read the numbers also means to be able to be good citizens, informed citizens,
00:22because they are one of the tools we have for our information.
00:27Among other things, today our society is increasingly able to read, manipulate, manipulate the numbers,
00:36manipulate in the good sense of the term, to manage them.
00:39So, for us, a fundamental thing, also from a divulgative point of view, rather than scientific,
00:46is to make people understand, to make young people and young people understand, even with games.
00:53There are many occasions to play, to have fun with mathematics, with numbers, with statistics,
00:58that the numbers serve, they serve to understand our own reality, the reality that surrounds us.
01:03So, to be able to do statistics is, for me, obviously, a prerequisite to be able to be good citizens, from a certain point of view.
01:15It is also one of the reasons why we fight and try to, with several projects that we have in progress,
01:24together with the ISTAT, to have a good statistical education in schools.
