01:04containing Php12,000 to Php15,000 cash from Vice President Sara Duterte when she was the
01:09education secretary.
01:11DepEd Director and Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Resti Osias told legislators he received
01:16these envelopes four times from former DepEd Assistant Secretary Sunshine Fajarda.
01:21Former DepEd Undersecretary Gloria Mercado had revealed in September that Duterte gave
01:25her nine envelopes containing Php50,000 each.
01:28OVP staff skipped the Thursday hearing, saying it lacks clear legislative objective.

01:37OVP.
01:38Receipts submitted to state auditors show daily rental costs of safe houses were as
01:43high as Php250,000.

01:50expenses even though these were not funded by DepEd.
01:56Senate President Cheese Escudero says the upper chamber's investigation into former
01:59President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war should not be handled by the committee chaired by
02:03Senator Bato De La Rosa.
02:05Escudero says he is looking at other committees.
02:08De La Rosa was involved in the anti-drug campaign during his tenure as police chief.
02:13On Wednesday, October 16, De La Rosa told reporters he will launch his own investigation
02:17because he believes the Senate would be, quote-unquote, more balanced than the House
02:21probe.
02:22Retired police colonel Roina Garma directly implicated Duterte in the extrajudicial killings
02:26carried out by the police during his administration and talked about the Davao model.
02:31But De La Rosa denies the existence of the model.
02:34De La Rosa faces allegations of crimes against humanity before the International Criminal
02:38Court.
02:39He earlier confirmed his office received communications from the ICC, but he admitted he had ignored
02:43the international body.
02:46No less than former Vice President Lenny Robredo welcomes President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. when
02:50he arrives in Sorsogon to inaugurate a sports arena.
02:54The two were bid arrivals in the 2016 vice presidential and 2022 presidential elections.
02:59Also present are two senatorial aspirants, Robredo's former campaign manager Bam Aquino
03:04and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.
03:06Two 2025 Senate bids also attend, former Senate President Tito Soto and re-electionist Lito
03:11Lapid.
03:12Robredo is running for mayor of Nagas City.
03:14In a short statement to media, Aquino calls the encounter a cordial interaction with the
03:18president.
03:19Senate President Chiz Escudero, former governor of Sorsogon, tells reporters he invited Robredo
03:24to welcome the president on behalf of Bicol.
03:26Escudero, too, was a vice presidential candidate in the 2016 polls.
03:30He calls their coming together that of a quote-unquote odd trio and frames it as the first step towards
03:35the healing of wounds.
03:39Former broadcast giant ABS-CBN says it is laying off another 100 employees as its revenues
03:43continue to decline.
03:45The layoff represents 3% of the company's existing workforce.
03:49Several ABS-CBN news employees tell Rappler they learned of the decision in a meeting
03:53Tuesday, October 15.
03:55The retrenchment affects the whole company, not just the news division.
03:58ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries laid off some 5,000 out of more than 11,000 employees when
04:04the government denied the company's franchise in 2020.
04:07Smaller layoffs followed, and the company now employs only 3,300 workers or about 30%
04:12of its original workforce.
04:14ABS-CBN says the whole TV industry has been hurt by shrinking advertising demand and the

04:36against Apollo Kibuloy's lawyer Israelito Torreon and former anti-insurgency spokesperson
04:41Lorraine Badoy.
04:42PNP CIDG Chief General Nicolas Torrey III leads the filing at the Justice Department
04:46on Thursday, October 17.
04:49The PNP CIDG accuses Torreon, Badoy, SMNI host Jeffrey Celiz, and several others of
04:54either preventing the police from carrying out its duty to arrest Kibuloy or influencing
04:58other people to do so.
05:00Police arrested Kibuloy in early September after a two-week standoff with members of
05:04his organization, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, at its sprawling compound in Davao City.
05:09Kibuloy is jailed at the PNP Custodial Center in Quezon City on charges of human trafficking
05:13and sexual abuse of a minor.
05:15Also on Thursday, the Pasig Court handling Kibuloy's cases deny his request for hospital
05:19arrest.

05:26on Thursday, October 17 after 18 months of duty.
05:30Wearing a uniform and a black beret, J-Hope smiles as he greets Jin and around 100 cheering
05:34fans upon his release.
05:36BTS' oldest member Jin finished his service in June.
05:40Other band members Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are still in mandatory service.
05:45The development sparked enthusiasm among fans and investors for a potential reunion of the
05:48boy band next year.
05:50The band is expected to reunite in 2025 after all the members have completed their military
05:54duty.
05:55Chartmasters.org ranks BTS as 41st in the list of best-selling artists of all time.

06:14Argentina Wednesday, October 16.
06:17Argentine police say the 31-year-old fell from his third-floor room balcony.

06:25an intoxicated guest.
06:27When police arrived, they found a man who had fallen over the balcony in his room.
06:30Payne on October 2 attended the Buenos Aires concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan.
06:35The two posted videos of the event.
