00:06life and still carried on the mission her husband left her over the last half century.
00:12Former Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama joined POTUS Joe Biden in paying homage and
00:17delivering eulogies to honor Ethel Kennedy, human rights activist and widow of Robert F. Kennedy,
00:24who was assassinated in Los Angeles during his campaign for the presidency in 1968.
00:30Ethel Kennedy founded the Robert Kennedy Foundation for Justice and Human Rights
00:35organization right after her husband's death and picked up on his cause to include gun control
00:42but stamping her indelible mark on the country. U.S. President Joe Biden said in his eulogy she
00:48became the de facto matriarch of America's most prominent political family after Jackie Kennedy
00:55passed on in May 1994 and was the clan's face of resilience for having endured several deaths and
01:01tragedies in the family by the age 40. But in 2014, President Barack Obama bestowed on her
01:08the nation's highest award for civilians, the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her devotion
01:14and commitment to uphold human rights. Among those who paid their last respects and delivered
01:20eulogies included former House Speaker and Democratic Party stalwart Nancy Pelosi and
01:26the Martin Luther King III pop icon Stevie Wonder also spoke and sang as did sting in
01:32St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where JFK was also eulogized in November of 1963.
