Our reporter, Theo, had a visitor from across the pond this week and so we asked him to film where they went as a little tourism guide in case you ever need help figuring out which places best sum up Manchester.

00:00Hi I'm Theo with Manchester World and today I'm out in the city of Manchester
00:04with my friend Larry who's come over to visit from the USA. So I figured I'd
00:07bring you along, show you everywhere that I took a first-time visit to Manchester
00:11so that if you've got friends or family visiting you know exactly where to take
00:15them. So let's start with Piccadilly Gardens. Piccadilly Gardens is right in
00:20the heart of Manchester just off the top of Market Street. It's the perfect place
00:23to relax, sit down and grab your lunch. The grass breaks up the concrete
00:27buildings around nicely and for history lovers there's a statue of Queen
00:30Victoria. So while Larry's reason for coming was to watch his beloved Chicago
00:34Bears play over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we decided we'd take him to an
00:38actual football shop to buy an actual football shirt. Now there are tons of
00:42great options for football shirts in Manchester but for a first-time visitor
00:45classic football shirts is the one. It's got a massive range and in here Larry
00:49managed to grab a Bruno Fernandes top for his cousin. And we couldn't do the
00:52Northern Quarter without doing Affleck's. The weird wonderful palace sums up
00:56everything that's great about Manchester's Northern Quarter and here
01:00Larry continued his shirt expedition by going on those a little bit rude so I'm
01:03not going to show you but Affleck's is absolutely the place to be for all your
01:07weird and wacky needs. Manchester has a lot of great food options particularly
01:11for tourists who've not tried them before. Where we've taken Larry is
01:13Northern Soul Grilled Cheese Company for what is the best grilled cheese sandwich
01:17in Manchester. Larry went for the mac and cheese toasty and added bacon to it and
01:22it hits every time. Absolute guarantee. And then just down the road from there
01:26is a little hidden gem, one of my favourite stores in Manchester, Deadstock
01:29General Store and it's just the sort of place where you could spend endless
01:32amounts of money from cool-looking sunglasses to weird wonderful water
01:36bottles and I really can't recommend it enough. It smells great, it looks great
01:39and some of the range of things is just awesome. And after a long explorative day
01:43we found our way to Track Brewery for one of the best pints and atmospheres in
01:46the city. So over the past couple of minutes you've seen places to shop,
01:49places to eat, places to relax and places to drink all across Manchester. So if
01:54you're visiting the city for the first time let us know where you go and yeah
01:58thanks for watching Manchester World.
