00:00What's the question again? Go ahead.
00:02I don't remember the question.
00:03I don't either.
00:04Okay.
00:05Welcome to Ms Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks
00:09for the most awkward and uncomfortable interviews with celebrities
00:14that left the audience with the ick.
00:16You do seem a bit, a bit irritated.
00:18Perhaps it's just us.
00:21No, I think it's just you.
00:24Number 10, Mean Girls in Real Life
00:27First of all, congrats on your little bump.
00:29Congrats on your little bump.
00:32As the backstage drama with 2024's It Ends With Us unfolded,
00:36journalist Sashti Flaher re-uploaded her 2016 interview
00:41with Blake Lively and Parker Posey.
00:43There to promote Cafe Society, the chat went off the rails
00:47after Flaher congratulated Lively on her pregnancy,
00:50referencing her little bump.
00:53Immediately, the actor turned it around by doing the same
00:56for the Norwegian's little bump.
00:58Although Flaher was not pregnant.
01:01You've got two nice ones.
01:03And these, they are kind of bumps, aren't they?
01:06No, not bumps, the lovely lady lumps.
01:09Check it out.
01:10When Flaher asked them about the 1930s costumes,
01:13Lively questioned if men get asked the same.
01:16Did you guys love wearing those kind of clothes that you...
01:19Yeah.
01:20And you know, working in digital...
01:21Everyone wants to talk about the clothes,
01:23but I wonder if they would ask the men about the clothes.
01:25The two actors then talked amongst themselves for the remainder.
01:28It was bizarre, and the actors were called mean girls.
01:31But still, like, these are things you do when you're an adult.
01:35Yeah.
01:36When you have to work, you have to, you play a part.
01:39To make it worse, Flaher said that at the time
01:42she was experiencing fertility issues
01:44that added extra pain from that comment.
01:48Number nine, Republic of Britain.
01:50Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland
01:52have a long controversial relationship.
01:54As of the 1860s, there were those in Ireland
01:56who pushed for what was called Home Rule,
01:58which meant that Ireland would remain in the UK
02:00but with autonomy over the laws that governed it.
02:02The British said no and would continue to do so for the next 60 years.
02:06From the 60s until 1998,
02:08the Troubles, a series of conflicts between Brits,
02:11Republicans and Loyalists took place,
02:14so it can be problematic to call an Irish person British.
02:18As part of the press junket for 2010's Inception,
02:22actors Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy spoke to a journalist
02:25who said both actors were British.
02:28When Murphy corrected him that he was Irish,
02:30the interviewer doubled down.
02:32Both are British.
02:33No, I'm Irish.
02:34Yeah, I'm British.
02:35No, no, no.
02:36Oh, sorry, sorry.
02:38Once more, the Oppenheimer star reiterated his nationality,
02:42only for the journalist to say he was from an area of North Europe.
02:47Hardy's uncomfortable head shakes and grimaces
02:50only pointed up the awkwardness of the exchange.
02:53Number 8. Over the Hilton
02:55In 2011, ABC's Dan Harris sat down with Paris Hilton
02:59after the third arrest of stalker James Rainford.
03:03So, to have this individual repeatedly harassing you,
03:07how unsettling is that?
03:09It's very unsettling because you don't know
03:11what frame of mind someone is like that,
03:14who now four times has tried to get in contact with me.
03:18The conversation started standard enough,
03:21with Harris asking the reality TV legend about her screen persona.
03:25Is it true that when you're not on camera
03:28that your voice drops and you're much more serious?
03:30Definitely, I think.
03:32It's a character that I developed for The Simple Life.
03:34They wanted someone who was an airhead and kind of had the baby voice.
03:38But then he got more combative as he asked Hilton
03:41if she worried Kim Kardashian was overshadowing her,
03:45while the heiress responded that she wasn't worried.
03:48Harris didn't drop the subject.
03:50Do you worry at times that the people who have followed in your footsteps,
03:54like Kim Kardashian, are overshadowing you?
03:57No, not at all.
03:58There's been some talk about the ratings in the show being low.
04:01Has that upset you?
04:03No.
04:04Then he got brutal by asking if she worried if her moment had passed.
04:09Do you ever worry about your moment having passed?
04:11This caused Hilton to look off camera to her publicist
04:14and then leave.
04:16Later, she returned to finish the interview,
04:18but no one would have blamed Hilton if she hadn't after that disrespect.
04:23Number seven, Dakota Callout.
04:25Considering everything that came out about the Ellen DeGeneres show,
04:29Dakota Johnson is even more of a hero
04:32for standing up against the former talk show host.
04:35You turned 30.
04:36I did.
04:37In 2019, Johnson came onto the show to promote her work
04:40in The Peanut Butter Falcon.
04:42DeGeneres immediately brought up the actor's 30th birthday party
04:46and mentioned she wasn't invited.
04:48Johnson called her out, stating she had asked her,
04:51which DeGeneres' producers confirmed.
04:54Last time I was on the show last year,
04:57you gave me a bunch of s*** about not inviting you,
04:59but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited.
05:01DeGeneres made an awkward attempt at covering
05:04by saying she had a thing and only just remembered the invite.
05:08It was probably in Malibu. That's too far for me to go to.
05:10Johnson also went viral for her 2015 interaction with her mum,
05:14Melanie Griffith.
05:16Interviewed at the Oscars pre-show,
05:18Johnson took shots at Griffith for refusing to watch
05:21Fifty Shades of Grey due to the intimate scenes.
05:24Well, she's a really good actress.
05:26I don't need to see that to know how good she is.
05:28Great! You don't have to see it.
05:30Number six, forced flirting.
05:33After being sued for battery in 2023,
05:37people began revisiting Vin Diesel's super cringy
05:40and objectifying interview from 2016.
05:43We love having you here.
05:45I love being here.
05:46Speaking to Brazilian YouTuber Carol Moreira
05:49to promote XXX's Return of Xander Cage,
05:52the actor was immediately weird in how he spoke to Moreira.
05:56God, you're so beautiful.
05:58My God, she's so beautiful.
06:00Am I right or wrong?
06:01And it only got worse.
06:03Diesel kept interrupting Moreira
06:05with variations of him saying how beautiful she was,
06:08even looking around the room for others to support him.
06:11What's wrong? Am I the only one that's saying that?
06:13Look at her.
06:14By the end, he got on his knees and shuffled towards her.
06:18It's like you can't even do an interview with her
06:20because you're just like...
06:24Yikes!
06:25In the video she uploaded during the introduction,
06:28Moreira stated that while she laughed when it happened,
06:31she was uncomfortable and didn't like the situation at all.
06:35Number five, bad morning Sacramento.
06:38Carla Delevingne is in the movie.
06:40She joins us live from New York City to talk about Paper Towns.
06:42Carla, good morning.
06:43Hey.
06:44Hi, how are you doing?
06:45Who knew that if you start an interview
06:47by introducing the guests with the wrong name,
06:50the rest might not go too well.
06:53In 2015, to promote Paper Towns,
06:55Carla Delevingne appeared on Good Morning Sacramento
06:58after she was introduced as Carla.
07:01After getting some sarcastic responses,
07:03such as responding that she hadn't read the book or script,
07:07Mark Allen pushed his way into the conversation
07:10to ask if she was exhausted due to her lack of excitement.
07:14I saw you in London talking a couple of weeks ago on TV
07:17and you seemed a lot more excited about it than you do right now.
07:20Are you just exhausted?
07:21Taken aback, Delevingne responded well before
07:24Marianne McClary took further shots by patronizingly telling the actor
07:29to take a nap or drink Red Bull.
07:31Take a little nap, maybe get a Red Bull. How about that?
07:33The book's author, John Green,
07:35called out the casual sexism displayed by the hosts.
07:38Delevingne later posted that they didn't understand her sarcasm.
07:43Number four, slimy questioning.
07:45An interview likely caused too much controversy
07:49when the hosts scrubbed the video from their channel.
07:52That's what happened with The Zach Sang Show.
07:55Well, the question I had, it's a weird connection.
07:57In 2024, as Sabrina Carpenter's popularity rose,
08:01fans discovered her 2017 interview on the podcast.
08:05During it, co-host Dan Zolot questioned Carpenter
08:09if she had received intimate text messages.
08:12Yeah, no, I'm still in the teenage phase where it's, like,
08:14weird if I send the first text.
08:16Already massively inappropriate,
08:18it gets worse with the knowledge that moments before,
08:21he asked Carpenter her age and realized she was a minor at 17.
08:27But Zolot still went ahead with the gross question.
08:30Carpenter, clearly uncomfortable,
08:32does a great job of diplomatically responding.
08:35So I deleted Snapchat and then...
08:37I don't want to see that.
08:39And then I got it again, but it's a public account,
08:42so I don't really use it, like...
08:43I get that.
08:44Sang then chimed in that getting intimate photos
08:47is an ego boost for him, which was also weird.
08:51Number three, creepy Letterman.
08:53Every so often, this infamous incident
08:56on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1998
09:00gets showcased to a new audience,
09:02and they, too, get to be as creeped out
09:05as everyone else who's seen it.
09:08Speaking to Jennifer Aniston to promote her work
09:10in The Object of My Affection,
09:12Letterman scooted behind the actor
09:14and told her to forgive him if it's rude.
09:17He grabbed her neck, slowly leaned in,
09:20frightened the actor,
09:21and finished by putting strands of her hair
09:24in his mouth and sucking.
09:27Horrendous.
09:28He then hands her a tissue to wipe his drool away.
09:32I'm sorry.
09:33That's gonna be worth a lot of money.
09:34Something to do with the steam room.
09:35This incident and other controversies
09:38when interviewing female celebrities
09:40have called into question Letterman's legacy
09:42as a legend in the talk show industry.
09:45People are off here going...
09:47I know, people are horrified by that.
09:49We'll take it out in editing.
09:51Don't worry.
09:52Number two, racism, Rubin.
09:54In 2014, KTLA's Sam Rubin
09:57spoke to Samuel L. Jackson
09:59to promote the movie Robocop,
10:01but it went off the rails
10:02when the journalist asked the actor
10:04about the reaction he got
10:05from his Super Bowl commercial.
10:07Did you get a lot of reaction
10:08to that Super Bowl commercial?
10:10What Super Bowl commercial?
10:12It seemed that the interviewer
10:13had confused Jackson
10:14with another black actor,
10:16Lawrence Fishburne.
10:17The actor then berated Rubin,
10:19telling him that while he and Fishburne
10:21are both black and famous,
10:22they don't all look alike.
10:24You're the entertainment reporter?
10:26I know!
10:27You're the entertainment reporter for this station?
10:29Afterward, Rubin apologized
10:30and explained that he was referring
10:32to the Captain America,
10:33the Winter Soldier trailer,
10:35but had gotten flustered.
10:36Weeks later, the duo met on camera again
10:39and showed it was water under the bridge,
10:41as Samuel jokingly mocked Rubin's mistake.

11:05Number 1. The Hostile Interview
11:08In her 2023 memoir,
11:10Britney Spears called this interview
11:12completely humiliating
11:14and described it as a breaking point.
11:16And that's understandable.
11:18Have you ever gone further
11:19than you wish you had?
11:21Gone further?
11:22Yeah.
11:24Um, no.
11:26I don't think so.
11:28In 2003, she spoke to Diane Sawyer
11:30for Prime Time.
11:32The journalist seemed to have
11:33an agenda against Spears
11:34and felt entitled to know
11:36all about her private life.
11:38Sawyer probed the singer
11:39on the reasoning behind her breakup
11:41with Justin Timberlake
11:42and took his side.
11:44He has gone on television
11:46and pretty much said,
11:48you broke his heart,
11:50you did something
11:52that caused him so much pain.
11:55She then brought up a threatening remark
11:57then First Lady of Maryland,
11:59Kendal Ehrlich,
12:00made about Spears,
12:01which clearly stung.
12:03You know what?
12:04Like, I'm not here to,
12:06you know,
12:07babysit her kids.
12:09Sawyer scolded Spears throughout,
12:11criticizing her more provocative side,
12:14shaming her as much as possible
12:16and making her cry.
12:18Can we?
12:20It's horrendous that a journalist
12:21could have behaved this way
12:22toward a young celebrity
12:24and suffer no repercussions
12:26at the time.
12:27Who's the most wholesome interviewer?
12:29Alison Hammond?
12:30Sean Evans?
12:31Kelly Clarkson?
12:32Or someone else?
12:33Let us know below.
12:34Bleak, dystopian,
12:36an absolute nightmare to be honest with you.
12:38That's just my interviewing techniques.
12:40But let's talk about the movie,
12:42Blade Runner 2049.
12:44Do you agree with our picks?
