00:00Welcome, everyone, to Couch Potato Diary.
00:08Hey, Big Mac- Maco?
00:09Maco?
00:10Sorry.
00:11I think I got that right one time, and now I second-guess myself all the time.
00:13My name is Peter Klein.
00:14My light is way too bright.
00:15Thank you guys so much for tuning in today.
00:19Coming up, we are looking at the Calgary Flames.
00:21They keep winning.
00:22How?
00:23Plus, we'll be looking at NFL power rankings, heading into week number seven, and a little
00:28bit of boxing talk to wrap things up on the show today, as we have new pound-for-pound
00:33rankings coming out of the Better Be of Bivol fight from the weekend.
00:38So, there is a lot to cover on the show.
00:41As always, if you want to get involved in this conversation, or any conversation, let
00:46me know in the chat.
00:47Just start chatting away, and if it's not what necessarily the segment's about, just
00:52for my own editing purposes, because I put all this stuff up on YouTube after, I will
00:55be just answering it at the end of the segment.
00:59That's kind of how we're going to do this.
01:00But, really looking forward to doing this today.
01:02Let's get into it, and start talking about the Calgary Flames.
01:08Ah, Macko, from the, Mackenzie, from the Game Over stream chat.
01:18Well, thank you for hanging out today, and welcome to Couch Potato Diary.
01:22So, the Calgary Flames, with a victory last night over the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-1, ends
01:28up being the final score.
01:30And this, I have thought about doing a, um, sorry, I cannot get my lighting right today.
01:35Um, I have thought about doing a, well, how seriously can we take this segment, and stuff
01:39like that.
01:40And I still think the answer is not, and so there, I've done the segment now.
01:44But, I do think that there's, obviously there's a lot of positive signs.
01:48When you are winning four games in a row, things are going to be going well.
01:51But I do think, this season, in general, a lot of the messaging, at least from here,
01:57is going to be process over results.
02:01And the results are there, but the process is there as well.
02:04And that is what gives me so much optimism going forward with this team, is you look
02:11at how they are playing, and this is how they're going to have to play to be successful.
02:16And so, just firstly, awesome that they're getting rewarded for that.
02:21Like, that is, I think, a real boost.
02:24When you have a way that you have to play to be successful, and you play that way, and
02:31it works.
02:32That is really great when you're trying to get young players on board, and veteran players
02:37I guess as well.
02:38When you're trying to get everyone involved, and get them invested in the way you are kind
02:43of handling your business.
02:44So, for the Flames, how are they going to be successful?
02:48They are not going to out-talent many, if any, teams.
02:51What they are going to do, is have to win a lot of those puck battles, win a lot of
02:55those races, and score a few ugly goals.
02:59And they have been doing that.
03:00You look at the goal that Mantha scored against Edmonton the other night, where he beat Hyman
03:03in front and just bullied him and scored the goal to get the victory in that one.
03:09The goal that Huberto gets, he's just going to the net and the puck bounces off of him
03:13and goes in.
03:14You would love for your team to be the one that is able to do all the dipsy-doodle and
03:18walk in and there's a shot from 30 feet, and oh what a goal, or between the legs, dangle,
03:21all that.
03:22That's not going to be this group.
03:24At least for now, it's not going to be this group.
03:26So, it's good that they are going out there and putting in the process that they are going
03:31to need, the systems that they are going to need to be successful, and seeing those things
03:36work.
03:37One thing that I don't think can be overlooked in how this is all going, is I do think the
03:43goaltending has bailed them out at times.
03:46And now, not to the point where it's like the find-a-way flames, where it was Romo and
03:52Hiller and all those guys making 45 saves on a nightly basis, and this team was finding
03:57ways to somehow win 2-1 games coming off of that.
04:00But there have been a few times where there have been a few defensive breakdowns.
04:03And Wolff last night was really sharp, Vladar in other nights has been really sharp.
04:08I still think this team, defensively, has some work to do.
04:13But overall, they have done a tremendous job of shutting down the opposition, and kind
04:21of keeping a whole lot of stuff to the outside.
04:23A few breakdowns, a few more than you would like, but they are doing a great job with
04:27that.
04:28And then lastly, you are getting contributions from the guy that you really want to get contributions
04:32from, and you are getting, like, Huberto is it, Mako in the chat, mentioning Coronado
04:40showed a bit of skill, but he still had to kind of push in his goal.
04:43And yeah, there's that too.
04:45They aren't just a bunch of knuckle-dragger, just, you know, like, what my beard would
04:50make you believe I would be.
04:52They aren't necessarily that.
04:54There is some skill there.
04:55I guess I shouldn't understate it too much.
04:58But yeah, Coronado showing that, and he has been one that has been fantastic.
05:03And Adam and me talked about this on Game Over Calgary last night.
05:07I should share that in the chat, although, I mean, there's only a couple in here right
05:10now, and obviously one of them was in the chat.
05:13So maybe we don't need to share that one right now.
05:15But the thought of, well, you can't play Coronado on the fourth line, is one that I bought into.
05:22And honestly, I'm still kind of there.
05:25I don't think long-term this is where he kind of fits in on this team, but it's also better
05:29than him not playing at all.
05:32And so that is why I thought it was a little curious when they called him up with the Rooney
05:37injury, and then you have Honza go play on the top line.
05:42It's like, well, that's kind of where Coronado, it's kind of the only spot Coronado fits.
05:47So why are you not doing that?
05:49But I have really liked what that fourth line has brought.
05:52I know a lot of people were talking last night about, well, Mangiapane started on the fourth line.
05:56It's like, well, I kind of think Mangiapane is closer to a fourth liner than a first liner.
06:03I will say that.
06:04Right?
06:05Like, he got the 35 goals, and we all love him for it very, very much.
06:09And we all love the Sopranos memes and all that when he scores goals.
06:12It's so much fun.
06:14But he is, he's not that guy.
06:15He is much closer to energy fourth line guy than he is a high-level sniper type.
06:22And your hope for Coronado is that he turns into high-level sniper guy, because if he
06:26is not that, I just don't know how sustainable a run in the NHL is for him.
06:31But for right now, for him to be going out there and buying in in that way, I think shows
06:36a real level of maturity for him that is very encouraging to see.
06:41And I also think that it is a testament to the play of Kirkland and Lomberg as well,
06:48and what they have been able to do.
06:50That line has been a whole lot of fun.
06:51Lomberg has been the exact type of energy this Flames team needed.
06:54Like, he has played the role of Ryan Lomberg perfectly, so far, for this Flames squad.
07:02And that has been really great to see.
07:05And to have now, like I said, Coronado getting in there, contributing offensively, you now
07:11have scoring on all four lines, and that's not something you really thought you would
07:15have with this Flames group.
07:17And another reason you have that is because the Huberto line is also going.
07:22And Anthony Mantha has been beastin' with Huberto.
07:26And those two, along with Pospisil, have fit like a glove.
07:30And it is the exact thing that you wanted to see from Anthony Mantha, from Jonathan
07:36Huberto, and from Martin Pospisil.
07:37And I have said before, this team is not going to be able to move Jonathan Huberto.
07:44Like, he is a part of the future.
07:47So, you may as well make the most of it.
07:49And right now, Mantha's making the most of it.
07:51Which does lead to interesting conversations down the road, but for now, he's making
07:56the most of it and he's doing a phenomenal job with that.
07:59Overall, it's been very positive for the Flames.
08:02Now they get a few days to kind of rest.
08:04I do like these early season breaks that teams tend to get, where you get into it, they had
08:11a back-to-back over the weekend, then you play again on a Tuesday, and now there's
08:14this pause here, and yeah, you would like to just stay, especially when they're winning,
08:18you would like to stay in the momentum of the season and just keep it rolling, but I
08:21do think it's a pretty good, like, okay, we've played four games, let's just, everyone
08:26do a deep cleansing breath, and just see, alright, now that that's out of the way,
08:33what's working, what's not working, let's actually see what's going on here.
08:38And I think this is a good time to assess, like, alright, what has actually, like, the
08:42wins have been great.
08:43What's actually been working, what's actually not working, and let's see where all the chips
08:46kind of fall after this.
08:48But another good win for the Flames, and now an interesting test against the Seattle Kraken
08:52coming up on Saturday.
08:54For more Flames talk, head over to Game Over Calgary on YouTube, or wherever you get your
09:00podcasts.
09:01Alright, that is it for the Hacky Talk today, let's get into some NFL Power Rankings.
09:13NFL Power Rankings, heading into week number seven.
09:23These ones, a couple of big movers, but a lot kind of stays the same.
09:27As this, this NFL week almost felt like the first week where things started to make sense
09:33a little bit, right?
09:34Like, it was just, okay, there wasn't a wild and crazy, oh wow, how did this happen, what
09:38upset, what, but for the first six weeks of the season, the whole year has kind of
09:43felt like the red zone, witching hour thing.
09:47But now, it's kind of settled in a little bit more.
09:50So, at 32, it's Carolina.
09:52We continue to see that while it was fun when they played Cincinnati and the Raiders and
09:57everything was moving well, now that they are facing real football teams, there's resistance
10:03and they are not handling it super well.
10:06So, there's that.
10:08At 31, it's New England.
10:10Yes, Drake May came in and played quarterback.
10:11No, it didn't look good for a half.
10:13Yes, it looked better in the second half.
10:14No, it does not make them a good football team.
10:16At 30, it's the Cleveland Browns.
10:19They move on from Omari Cooper, and the race to the bottom is on.
10:24And for these three teams, in the, well, we'll talk about this in a sec.
10:28At 29, it's the Vegas Raiders.
10:29They move on from Devontae Adams, and the race for the bottom is on.
10:33At 28, it is the Miami Dolphins.
10:37They did not play this week, and so they moved up a spot because things got substantially
10:41worse for the Raiders.
10:42And so our bottom five, Miami, Vegas, Cleveland, New England, and Carolina.
10:48Not necessarily how the standings sit right now, but let's just say, for argument's sake,
10:54that these are the, this is the draft order when we get to April.
11:00That's a lot of interesting decisions to be made.
11:04For Carolina, is it quarterback again?
11:07Because that feels like a waste.
11:09That feels like a gigantic, now there's sunk cost and all of that, but oh boy, I think
11:17that if you're Carolina right now, and you do get that first overall pick, I think you
11:23have to try to take advantage and hope that there is another, quite frankly, Carolina
11:27out there who is desperate to move up and try to get a, yours or whoever is going to
11:34be the number one quarterback.
11:36Hope that they are desperate enough, because this team, when they went out and made that
11:40move for Bryce Young, they were not a quarterback away.
11:44And now here we are a couple of years later, and you are still not a quarterback away.
11:48And so I think if the Panthers went out and drafted a kid again first overall, they would
11:53just be making the exact same mistake that they did, and clearly not doing anything to
12:02grow from that.
12:03New England would obviously not be taking a quarterback.
12:05That would be best O-lineman or wide receiver available.
12:09The Cleveland one's interesting because a lot of people are saying that the only way
12:12you get rid of Deshaun Watson is to attach your first round pick to it.
12:16If the first round pick is top three, do they?
12:20Or do they just kind of like, hey, Deshaun, we're going to pay you to not be here, and
12:24we're going to draft this kid, and they're going to be the starter.
12:28You will collect your paycheck and just sit at home and stay so far away from this kid,
12:34it's not even funny.
12:35I wonder what they would do there.
12:36The Raiders, I think, would just draft a quarterback and move on, even though, again, I don't think
12:40that foundation is set.
12:41And the Miami one is really interesting because of the Tua situation.
12:47And Walt Grizzley in the chat, why do you think the Dolphins are worse than the Jags
12:50or the Titans right now?
12:53Interesting question.
12:54The Titans did beat Miami a couple of weeks ago, and Jacksonville, yes.
12:59And I honestly, I probably didn't move Jacksonville down far enough in my rankings.
13:04So a very good point.
13:05It is just, it's how bad it has looked.
13:07And a big part of that is Tua not being in the lineup.
13:10But let's remember, it didn't look good for Tua in week one.
13:15They do get the win against Jacksonville.
13:17And so, yes, my argument of, well, Tennessee beat them, it goes out the window because
13:20Jacksonville won.
13:21But don't, only pay attention to the stuff I want you to.
13:23But no.
13:24And then week two, they are getting just curb stomped by Buffalo.
13:29And then the Tua injury happens.
13:31And now, like, this offense can do nothing.
13:34Like they, they look like the worst offense in football.
13:38And there are still a lot of talented pieces on this team.
13:40But quite frankly, I think that teams like the Raiders in New England have more of a
13:46beef with being below Miami than Miami has of being below a Tennessee or a Jacksonville,
13:52just based off of how it looks.
13:54Now if we were to project, like, there's still a world Miami makes the playoffs.
13:57Tua comes back, and we have the same conversation we've had for a bit where, oh well he's
14:02one big hit away, and then I counter with, well yeah, so is fucking everybody.
14:06And then we see what happens on that Thursday night game, it's like, well maybe he's
14:09just a medium hit away.
14:10And there is all of that conversation.
14:12But I, for right now, it has just looked so bad.
14:17And this defense has not recovered in the way that I think a few people assumed it would.
14:22And now part of that is they're on the field all the time, because again, the offense can
14:25do nothing.
14:26But I just think this offense is not moving the football at all.
14:30And it has made for a really bad product.
14:33At 27, it's the Tennessee Titans.
14:35I still think this is a decent roster.
14:38It's a quarterback who continues to make mistake after mistake.
14:41And this last week was, I think, the kind of, um, the nail in all of it.
14:48This just, I don't think it's going to work.
14:51And I don't like writing a kid off in his first full year of starting.
14:54But we have talked time and time again, the Indianapolis Colts do not alter their defense
14:59at all.
15:00And so for Will Levis to be thrown off by that is, I think, very concerning going forward
15:06for this team.
15:07At 26, it's the Rams.
15:08Maybe they get a little bit healthier and move on up.
15:11But it has been a bit of a slog so far this year.
15:13At 25, the Denver Broncos.
15:15They made a bit of a comeback against the LA Chargers, but the first three quarters
15:18of that game did not look very good for them.
15:21At 24, it's Jacksonville.
15:22Again, probably should be a little bit lower on this list.
15:25I think part of it is just, I have them a little high to begin with.
15:29And so they are moving down incrementally a little bit.
15:32But yeah, if I just was starting brand new over, maybe I shouldn't have them this high.
15:37But it is also tough to, like I guess Denver does have three wins.
15:42But I have not been impressed by Denver at all.
15:45And I still think I would take Jacksonville's roster right now and just kind of go with
15:51them.
15:52So that's where I'm at.
15:53At 23, it's the Giants.
15:54The defense is legitimately better than I thought it was going to be.
15:57And now the offense is not.
16:02With neighbors there, there's at least something.
16:03I think they found something in Tracy.
16:05I'll be interested to see what they do with him when Singletary is back.
16:08But I think this defense is actually legitimately pretty good.
16:11At 22, it's the Bears.
16:12The offense is starting to figure it out a little bit more.
16:15And this defense is very, very good.
16:18And so they're starting to put together a pretty good football team.
16:21At 21, it's the Indianapolis Colts.
16:24They have this weird thing where even when they win, none of it looks impressive.
16:29It just, it all looks like a grind.
16:31It all looks really just like, well, I guess we found a way to win.
16:35It never feels like they fully win a game.
16:37It's just that their opponents kind of run out of time.
16:40And that's not a great way to be building things.
16:43But I have them close to the middle.
16:45At 20, it's a big fall for the Dallas Cowboys.
16:49We have enough evidence now that I think we can clearly say on this podcast, on Wednesday,
16:55October 16th, at 1029 a.m. Mountain Time, the Dallas Cowboys are a bad football team.
17:03This is just a horrendous group that cannot defend, nor can they move the football.
17:09Also, the coach is dumb.
17:11Also, the owner is kind of insane.
17:15There are no redeeming qualities of this football team.
17:18They have seedy lamb.
17:21That's it.
17:22He kind of seems like he'd be a good fun dude to hang out with, but I don't think I'd want
17:27to be paying him a lot of money to be the quarterback of my football team.
17:30It's just that there's not a whole lot going on in Dallas right now.
17:34At 19, I have the Cincinnati Bengals.
17:37It's getting a little bit better, but again, the offense, it's weird, like I can't say,
17:42well, the offense can't really do anything, but also the Giants' defense is legitimate.
17:45Trust that.
17:46But, I do think that the offense is kind of rounding out a little bit, and I think more
17:51Chase Brown would certainly answer a lot of things that this team needs, and defensively,
17:56it looked good against the Giants, but again, it's the Giants, so I don't think we can take
18:01that all that seriously.
18:02So, I think that this is a Cincinnati team that is good, not great, and will probably
18:06continue to rise up a little bit.
18:08At 18, it's Arizona.
18:10They are another one that dropped quite a bit.
18:11I believe I had them around top 10 last week.
18:14I just can't.
18:15The offense is now too inconsistent, and the defense is now too bad.
18:23It's just, it's not, it's not clicking and it's not progressing.
18:26We saw this at the early part of the season, like okay, this is meshing, it's going well,
18:30and it's just, it hasn't, it hasn't taken that next step yet.
18:34And that has been, I think, a real concern for the Arizona Cardinals, is how inconsistent
18:39it seems right now.
18:41Toxic in the chat.
18:42The Cowboys being bad is good for the NFL.
18:45Oh boy, is it.
18:46Um, I do, like, it is a little bit more fun when the Cowboys are good, that they are one
18:52of those teams where even if they aren't good, we're still going to have to deal with them
18:56a lot.
18:57You know?
18:58And so, because they're going to be on primetime five or six times a year, and we're always
19:03going to get them on the Thanksgiving Day game, and we're always going to be talking
19:06about them, um, like, I mean, and look, I'm guilty of it too, guess, guess who's going
19:12to be the thumbnail this week for this?
19:14It's going to be Dak Prescott and the Cowboys plummet in power rankings, you know?
19:18Because people pay attention to them.
19:20And because we get them, like, just kind of plunged down our throats, I would kind of
19:26just rather them be good.
19:27You know?
19:28If I'm going to have to watch them anyway, I would rather they be good.
19:32So not great, to the point where it's absurd, but like, you know, give me a good football
19:36team.
19:37But, to your point, Toxic, every now and then, when they just slip in a nice little, like,
19:41oh wow, they're 6-11 type of a season, that makes it fun.
19:45And then it also makes draft time fun, because you have this marquee franchise, and everyone's
19:48focusing on draft stuff.
19:50So, um, yes, the Cowboys being bad is very good for NFL fans, and very much enjoyable.
19:56At 17, it is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, um, they put up a whole lot of points against
20:02the New Orleans Saints, and also gave up a whole bunch of points to Spencer Rattler.
20:06Although some of that was, uh, pick-sixes and fumbles and all that stuff, but, um, they,
20:13this is where they should be.
20:15I have been caught in thinking too highly of Tampa Bay, and also I have at times been
20:20caught thinking too lowly of Tampa Bay, but we are now, I think, course-corrected and
20:24figured out what this team actually is.
20:27At 16, it is the Los Angeles Chargers.
20:31Again, offense, mid, defense is quite good, but not to the point that it carries them
20:38up to being anything beyond a middle-tier team.
20:41At 15, it is New Orleans, probably a little bit too high, but still, um, up there a little
20:46bit based off of how well things went in the beginning part of the season, and again, I
20:50have incredible respect for what they can do on the defensive side of the football.
20:55Really interested in the Thursday night game.
20:56Sorry, against the Denver Broncos.
20:59At 14, it's Seattle, again, maybe a little bit too high, but again, this is one of those
21:03things where, okay, well, I think Seattle's too high, well can I confidently put New Orleans
21:06ahead of them?
21:07No.
21:08Chargers?
21:09No.
21:10Bucs?
21:11No.
21:12Cards?
21:13No.
21:14Bengals?
21:15No.
21:16Cowboys?
21:17LOL.
21:18Like, all of these teams, like, 14, when you watch Seattle play, it's like, well, that
21:19is not the 14th best team in the NFL.
21:20And then you watch the 18 behind them, or 17 behind them, it's like, well, I mean, maybe.
21:25You know?
21:26There's just, there's a lot of mediocre, as we've discussed.
21:30And Seattle, I think, is a step above that.
21:33They need to get healthy on defense, because it's starting to become really very much a
21:38problem for Seattle.
21:40At 13, it is Pittsburgh, some talk that Russell Wilson could get the start this week at quarterback,
21:45that is a good way to fall down in the power rankings, but that defense continues to be
21:49a problem.
21:50At 12, it's the New York Jets.
21:52They lose but move up because they end up getting Devontae Adams, and we broke the trade
21:56down yesterday.
21:58Maybe not necessarily the biggest need that this team has right now, but it is certainly
22:03a team that I think could be, or it's certainly a move that I think could help this team out
22:09a little bit further on.
22:10And it definitely puts them ahead of, like, Pittsburgh, Seattle, New Orleans, LA for now.
22:15Even though they sit at 2-4.
22:18Coming in at, where are we?
22:20Number 11.
22:21It is the Philadelphia Eagles.
22:24They are not impressive at all.
22:28And I just, I wanted to believe, I wanted to buy in, and we said, going into last week,
22:32this was the week where it needed to be dominant.
22:35And so many times when we have that, it just doesn't get there.
22:37And this week, it just didn't get there.
22:39And so I am, I am done taking Philadelphia seriously as any kind of a threat.
22:44Which is not great when we have a ticket that says Philadelphia Eagles, number one seed
22:48in the NFC, doesn't feel good.
22:50I mean, they got the win, so that's great.
22:52But it hasn't looked like it at all.
22:54At 10, it is San Francisco getting back on track with a Thursday night win over Seattle.
22:59They are getting healthier, they are getting better, even though I guess they're not getting
23:02all that much healthier with Mason getting hurt, but we'll see what his status is this
23:06week.
23:07At 9, it's Atlanta.
23:08It's becoming very apparent that what we saw week 1 for Atlanta against Pittsburgh was
23:12just working out some kinks, given that they didn't use a whole lot in the preseason.
23:18And we're starting to see, as the weeks go on, a little bit more creativity in the offensive
23:23play calling, better execution in the offensive play calling, and the defense is pretty good
23:27as well.
23:28At 8, it's Washington.
23:30They do take a bit of a dip after a loss against the Baltimore Ravens, but they held with Baltimore.
23:34Or they hung with Baltimore, sorry.
23:36And so I think they are still deserving of a top 10 spot.
23:39At 7, it's Green Bay.
23:40This was the most convincing victory and performance that Green Bay has had all season against
23:46Arizona, so that is, that is a good sign again for us.
23:52We were kind of on the Green Bay bandwagon.
23:54They are getting better as the season goes on, and it's kind of similar to last year.
23:58Only this year, they're not starting at 3-6 and making that push.
24:02They're starting right around 500 and making a push.
24:05So I think they're going to be dangerous.
24:07Walt saying that Mason is practicing, he should be able to play against Kansas City on Sunday,
24:10that's fantastic news, especially for those of us who have Mason in fantasy leagues.
24:16At where do we go?
24:17At 6, it's Buffalo.
24:18They move up in the power rankings, getting Amari Cooper and getting a big win over the
24:22New York Jets.
24:23I think Amari Cooper is exactly what this offense needed, and I think gets them back
24:28into kind of Super Bowl contention.
24:30Now as we talked about yesterday, defense still needs to be addressed, but it's looking
24:34up with Amari Cooper there.
24:36At 5, it is the Houston Texans, 41 points over the New England Patriots.
24:41Another strong showing against a defense that we think is supposed to be pretty good, although
24:45I think that is also changing a fair amount.
24:48At 4, it's Detroit.
24:50The Lions, uh, boy did they feel a certain kind of way about playing the Dallas Cowboys
24:57last week, hey?
24:58Like that was, that was a loss that really stuck with that team, and they pounded the
25:03hell out of them in this game, and just any nightmares they had from a season ago have
25:09all gone away based off of that one, because holy crap.
25:12And then our top 3 remain the same.
25:14At 3, it is the Minnesota Vikings, who still, it's still Sam Darnold, so we still can't
25:20get them in that top 2 yet, but they find their way on the podium.
25:23At 2, it is the Baltimore Ravens.
25:25Still some long term concerns about that defense, but that was a good win against Washington.
25:29And at number 1, no one has knocked them off the perch yet.
25:32They are the Kansas City Chiefs.
25:34So those are the NFL power rankings as we head into week number 7.
25:40We are not done with lists on this show today.
25:43There was a gigantic fight over the weekend, and while there was controversy around the
25:48results, we still have another data point for two fighters who were in the top 10 in
25:52the pound for pound.
25:53So, where do they land after that big fight in Saudi Arabia?
25:57Well, let's talk about it.
26:02Boxing pound for pound rankings, coming off of Beterbiev vs. Bivol at Saudi Arabia.
26:13A bit of a shift in this one.
26:16And so, this is, I kind of had to preface this last week with the UFC, because there
26:21was a controversial decision in the Raquel Paddington-Giuliana Pena fight.
26:26Even if you disagree with the scoring, for pound for pound, in my opinion, I think you
26:32have to just go with what the results are on paper.
26:35If you want to matchmake based off of how you think the fight should have gone, or how
26:40the judges should have done it, that's fine.
26:42But I think for actual real-life rankings, I think you have to kind of follow what the
26:47results say.
26:49So, coming in at number 10, I have Tiafema Lopez.
26:52Still a couple of gigantic wins, and maybe a couple of stumbles along the way as well,
26:58but I still think that the resume is there at number 10.
27:02At number 9, it is David Benavidez.
27:04The only way he really gets to move up is if he finds his way into better competition.
27:10And lord knows, this is not a knock on him for dodging anyone.
27:14It is a knock on people above him.
27:16Check Alvarez, comma Canelo.
27:20And not giving him the opportunities to move up, or to test his skills in those ways.
27:26At number 8, it is Devin Haney.
27:29It just, it felt like there was a few times where he'd go through, oh, what about this
27:33guy?
27:34Why don't I have, oh, we lost to Haney.
27:35Okay, well, what about, oh, we lost to Haney.
27:37Oh, well, okay, he's beat enough guys who are supposed to be on this list.
27:40Why don't I put him on this list?
27:42Still one of the best fighters in the sport.
27:43At 7, it's Dimitri Bivol.
27:45So he falls down a couple of spots based off of a loss to Artur Beterbiev.
27:50He still has the win over Canelo Alvarez, so you have to still keep him on this ranking.
27:55Even though that is a smaller fighter moving up, but still, a loss to a guy who was basically
28:01tied with him in the pound-for-pound rankings, I don't think should drop him out of the
28:04top 10.
28:05At 6, it's Gervonta Davis.
28:07He does move up just based on the Bivol loss.
28:11One of the guys who is in contention for face of the sport, so to speak.
28:16At 5, it's Canelo Alvarez.
28:18For the first time in a while, I have really bumped Canelo down in the rankings.
28:22I just feel like this last fight against Berlonga, I think, has to move him down a
28:28little bit more.
28:30And when you have a guy in Beterbiev, so spoiler alert, he does move up, when you have a guy
28:35in Beterbiev who is going out and fighting another guy who is basically tied with him
28:39in the pound-for-pound rankings and unifying a championship, I think that guy has to go
28:44over Canelo when Canelo had the opportunity to fight someone on this list and decided
28:49to go with Berlonga, who was barely a top 10 fighter in his own weight class.
28:53So that is the knock against Canelo, and again, I get no joy in this because I am such a huge
29:00Canelo fan, but I think it had to be done.
29:03And so obviously at 4, it is Beterbiev.
29:05You can say what you want about how the judges should have or could have or would have scored
29:09that fight, what they did score it was in favor of Artur Beterbiev.
29:13And so now, he continues to wake up as the undisputed light heavyweight champion, and
29:18a win over a top 10 fighter gets you up into the top 4.
29:23At number 3, it's Terrence Crawford.
29:26That is going to be a tough one to knock off, after the amazing performance he had over
29:30Errol Spence Jr.
29:31I do think, again, some of the talk of him moving up, even beyond where he tried in August,
29:37is a little bit premature, and we'd like to see him slowly do that, even though we
29:42are getting towards the end of the career here.
29:45I think that might be a step too far, but for now, dominant performance against Errol
29:48Spence Jr. in the biggest fight of the year keeps him at number 3.
29:52At 2, it's Oleksandr Usyk, after countless wins at heavyweight, cruiserweight, and all
29:58of that.
29:59And a win over Tyson Fury.
30:01I think you have to keep this guy at number 2.
30:03And at number 1, it is Noyoya Inoue, one of the most dominant fighters in this sport.
30:09And no matter what weight class he goes to, no matter who he is fighting, that power follows
30:15him wherever it goes, and he is just an absolute wrecking ball.
30:19And if you have not watched this guy fight, because most of his fights are in Japan at
30:232 in the morning.
30:242 in the morning art time.
30:25Not 2 in the morning Japan time.
30:27If you can watch this guy fight, please do it.
30:29Go find any YouTube clip of this guy, because he is just one of the best fighters of this
30:36era, and I still... like, obviously, giving him credit here, number 1 in the pound-for-pound
30:40rankings, but I think that this guy does not get the attention and love he deserves.
30:44Because of just how damn good he is as a fighter.
30:48So that's the homework for today.
30:49Go out YouTube Noyoya Inoue, and watch him just be an absolute wrecking machine at a
30:55bunch of the smaller weight classes.
30:57So a bit of a quicker one today.
31:00Coming in, by the time we edit this thing down, it's going to be about half an hour.
31:04So thank you guys so much for hanging out.
31:07Tomorrow's an off day, and then Friday is going to be a little bit different than what
31:11we have done around these parts before.
31:14As we've talked about before, I'm back on Sportsnet 960 The Fan every Friday, and so
31:19I have to be there for noon.
31:21We're on location tomorrow, too.
31:23But we have to... or sorry, on location on Friday.
31:27And so that only gives me a bit of time in the morning to get these things done, and
31:32then also, after... like, we can't do the divide of Football Friday and then Fighting
31:38Friday, because after, I'm basically going right from there to Flames Community Arena
31:42to call some Calgary Dinos hockey coming up on Friday as well.
31:46So it is going to be a bit of a jumbled schedule, and quite frankly, I don't know how I'm going
31:51to do it yet, but keep it locked.
31:53I'll try to get things scheduled here as best as I can on PrimetimePK.
31:58Also, keep it locked to my social medias.
32:01I am at PrimetimeKlein on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
32:06Thank you all so much for hanging out with me today, and I will talk to all of you later
32:11on today.
32:12I forgot to say, we're doing another video game stream.
32:13So that's coming out at... we're going to be doing that at 3 o'clock Mountain Time today.
32:17Going to be continuing on with the Calgary Flames.
32:20It's hockey season.
32:21I do want to get the other ones in there, but for now, it's hockey season.
32:24We got to get this thing wrapped up again.
32:26So we are going to do that.
32:28Toxic, see you later.
32:29Walt, as always, thank you so much.
32:32BigMacko as well, thank you very much in the chat.
32:34And I'll talk to all of you either later today or coming up in some form on Friday.
32:39Have a great day, everybody.
