Star and Shadow Halloween

We look at what the volunteer-run Star and Shadow Cinema in Newcastle has to offer over the Halloween period.
Transcript
00:00We are a 100% volunteer-run cinema, so everybody in the community has the chance to run this place.
00:08You just have to be inducted and then volunteer. You can put on films, gigs, events, anything you want, if it fits our ethos.
00:21It certainly sounds an interesting place, so I assume they've got some quite exciting options for this Halloween.
00:27For kids and family, we've got Adam's Family Values.
00:32We've got, for the teens and the millennials, we've got Buffy the Vampire Slayer, an all-day event, interactive.
00:40We're turning the cinema into Star and Shadowdale High.
00:43We have a really, really cool event that's Hacksan. It's a silent movie.
00:49It's a documentary about witchcraft, but we have a live band performing the score.
00:55The night before Halloween is the classic Japanese horror, The Ring.
01:01And on Halloween night, we have a massive event with Witchfinder General being screened.
01:06And then we have the local drag collective, the DGA, are then performing an interpretation of Witchfinder General.
01:17Being community-led, I wonder what activities, other than films, people could enjoy at the Star and Shadow.
01:23We also have theatre performances. We currently have a photography exhibit in the place.
01:29We do a diverse number of things from our community kitchen, where you can come in and cook.
01:34Or we have a garden, so we have a gardening club every Saturday morning.
01:41There is our art club on a Saturday, so you can come do arts and crafts, creative writing.
01:47We have a how to make a film workshop that's on every six weeks.
01:53Pretty much something for everyone, even if, like I say, you don't like film, you can come and do some gardening.
