00:34In a new preview of the upcoming interview posted on the morning show's Facebook page
00:38on Tuesday, Oct. 15, he shares some insight into the tough battle his fellow songwriter
00:44and guitarist is facing.
00:46"'She's doing good,' he told the GMA anchor, revealing that they caught it early,
00:51which was important.
00:52But, the tough disease is very fatiguing,' he explained, which likely accounts for why
00:57Shulfa hasn't been seen performing with the E Street Band, which she's been a part
01:02of since 1984, recently.
01:05Her absence seemingly accounts for why they finally chose to reveal her diagnosis, multiple
01:10myeloma type of blood cancer which she first received back in 2018.
01:15She hadn't played in the band in a long time, and people, I don't think, knew why.

01:23The revelation came in Springsteen's new documentary, Road Diary.
01:27Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which chronicles the behind-the-scenes preparation
01:32for the band's 2023-2024 world tour.
01:36"'Touring has become a challenge for me,' Shulfa shared in the documentary.
01:40"'This affects my immune system so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and
01:44where I choose to go,' she elaborated.
