00:00Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia, is in Brussels to join his EU
00:05and Gulf counterparts for the first-ever EU-Gulf cooperation summit, Euronews can confirm.
00:11Glowing global insecurity, the expansion of wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, trade
00:16and renewed efforts for a two-state solution are all on the agenda.
00:20Jasmin Al-Budawi is Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
00:25One of the requests from EU member states throughout the Gulf summit was for greater
00:33recognition and appreciation from Gulf countries regarding the role of Russia as a global security
00:39threat, but also in particular, obviously, a threat to the security of Europe, because
00:43we haven't really seen that so far.
00:45Do you see Russia as a security threat to the world, and do you recognise its threat
00:51to Europe, given of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine?
00:54Nobody should use any kind of force.
00:58I am personally from Kuwait, and I know what is the use of force mean.
01:02My country was gone in few hours when Saddam invaded Kuwait in the 90s.
01:08So when we talk about dialogue or diplomacy, we talk about the need, the humanity need
01:17for dialogue and diplomacy.
01:19We make sure that this message gets across to every single partner that we are engaged
01:26with.
01:27But do you recognise Russia as a security threat, given that they are bombing children's
01:31cancer hospitals in Kyiv, and dialogue hasn't worked because it didn't work to prevent Putin
01:37from invading Ukraine?
01:38Well, there is a Security Council, there is a United Nations, where we all can go.
01:44It is our court.
01:46This is where you need to address these kind of questions.
01:52You go to your General Assembly in the United Nations, you go to the Security Council, and
01:57address it.
01:58Nobody, again, should be singled out on certain issue or certain file.
02:04It has to be a comprehensive effort, international comprehensive effort, that deals with these
02:10kind of questions.
