00:00So for me, what really drives my purpose is my Spelman sisters.
00:04Like honestly, I see my Spelman sister Nia,
00:06we've been friends since freshman year before we even entered the Gates of Spelman.
00:09And even still, you're always taught to be successful,
00:13you have to be a doctor or a lawyer,
00:14or you maybe have to go into finance nowadays.
00:17But really, as I was telling Jaz earlier,
00:20I learned that to be successful,
00:22you have to really hone in on your purpose and what you want to do.
00:25And with biochemistry, I didn't want to do that.
00:28I looked at a dollar sign, and it didn't make me happy.
00:30I was struggling in chemistry classes.
00:32I was barely getting any rest.
00:34And being transparent, if I can be honest and blunt with you guys,
00:37don't ever wait on people's permission to tell you what you can and can't do.
00:41That wastes so much time.
00:43So much time when it can be an action point.
00:45It can be an action time.
00:46So after my immersion trip in April with AT&T,
00:50what I did was I reached back out to those who I met.
00:53And they put me in contact with those who worked at NBA.
00:56The W, I have a really good connection at the Atlanta Dream.
01:00And it's all because I reached out over LinkedIn.
01:02And trust me, I'm the type of person where I'm not shy.
01:05I will follow up in a week, two weeks maybe,
01:07get a little 30-minute call in.
01:09And I was being real with them.
01:10Hey, I'm just now breaking into sports.
01:12I really don't even know the whole logistics.
01:15I'm not starting in this industry.
01:17But can you help me?
01:18And being vulnerable, but being open to not only that guidance,
01:22but also just seeing where I would fit in it,
01:25that's helped me a lot and drive my purpose.
