00:00The only reason I am up on this stage right now is because of a Spelman woman, because of a text
00:06message, because of, you know, my pro fight literally put me in positions to win. And I'm
00:12forever grateful. But to your point, I felt uncomfortable at Spelman for four years, like,
00:16it's so crazy, because while I was at Spelman, like, everything was trying me at that school,
00:21like I you stick 2000 girls behind a gate, everyone's gonna try you like that. It was it
00:28was an interesting journey. But you know, hindsight's always 2020. I look back on it.
00:32And I was like, that was the best experience of my life. I would not be who I am today,
00:36I would not get the opportunities I have gotten today without Spelman, I'm forever indebted
00:42to it. And I would honestly argue, I kind of took it for granted while I was there.
00:46Because then I got to law school, and I went to Emory. And I wasn't I wasn't I didn't realize how
00:50much of a paradise I was in how much of a safe space that I was in. And you know, at first,
00:56it was kind of jolting. It was kind of like, I felt imposter syndrome, I felt alone, I felt
01:00inadequate. And I was like, No, this is what Spelman prepared you for. It made me uncomfortable
01:05for four years to get to this point. And I think, you know, all of the lessons that I learned at
01:13Spelman between womanhood, between you know, what is the best quick weave to wear between,
01:21you know, how to blend your makeup to you know, how to put yourself in positions to win,
01:26are all things that are so ingrained in me and have carried me in so many different spaces,
01:32I feel like Spelman made me like a chameleon, like, I was in business school, I was in law school,
01:37you know, I'm in place, I'm in Atlanta, I'm in New York, I'm in different, I'm in different
01:42environments. But I still feel this, you know, this pull to make myself known there. And I think
01:49that's what Spelman teaches you. And, you know, even further, when you go on the internet,
01:54you have to present yourself a certain way, you know, and I think Spelman really taught me, you
01:59know, how to articulate myself very well, how to hold space on the internet, how to hold my certain
02:04corner, how to reach my demographic. I'm forever indebted to Spelman.
