The wild rodent sandbox shooter Squirrel with a Gun is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, complete with a brand-new Photo Mode for players to capture and show off all the mayhem they will cause.  Squirrel with a Gun is a sandbox game that focuses on exploration and shooting combat. Defend yourself from random encounters with Agents using various weapons. Climb and jump across platforms with your natural squirrel skill, and use weapon recoil to cross even greater gaps. Explore the neighborhood from a squirrel's eye view. 00:00My name is Dan Dianchmont, Game Director for Squirrel with a Gun, the game where you play

00:08as the neighborhood's most obnoxious rodent, committing crimes and causing mayhem in pursuit

00:13of golden acorns, and I'm so excited to share a bit about what makes this nutty sandbox

00:18shooter and puzzle platformer so special.

00:21The core of Squirrel with a Gun is in its nutty sandbox gameplay.

00:25We had to make sure the gameplay was as crazy as the concept.

00:28You play as an unhinged animal as it wreaks havoc on the world around you as you explore

00:33and complete hidden objectives.

00:35You can be a nice squirrel and ask for snacks and pose for photos.

00:39You might get some rewards for wholesome interactions, like helping a bride find her missing groom,

00:45shooting some hoops, going on a little water adventure, and heading to the skate park to

00:49show off some tricks.

00:51But you can also choose to be a nuisance, pestering the community, like running them

00:55over with your little RC car, giving someone a shave riding the drone, doing a showdown

01:01with Wild Will the cowboy.

01:03There are so many different ways you can interact with people in this game, and a lot of hidden

01:07side quests to complete with the NPCs in exchange for the highly desirable golden acorns.

01:13Regular acorns and the rare golden acorns are used as currency to unlock new weapons

01:18or other interactable items, like your RC car.

01:22This game also has a lot of clever puzzle platforming.

01:25Not only do you jump and climb around like a normal squirrel would, but because this

01:29squirrel is often equipped for combat, you can use a gun's recoil to boost its jumps.

01:34This feature is utilized in various ways based on which gun you are holding, and sometimes

01:39you need a specific weapon to help you navigate a puzzle.

01:42For example, you wouldn't be able to get the acorn on top of this roof without a shotgun

01:45to blast you up there.

01:47We had a lot of fun making each puzzle super unique.

01:50There's a minefield that you have to sneak through to get the rewards on the other side.

01:54The neighborhood itself has all sorts of backyard puzzles, like getting some air with bouncy

01:58umbrellas or getting low in the crawlspace maze.

02:01Some of them can get a little crazy.

02:03You can take to the sky on a bouncy castle, and head underwater to get some rewards.

02:09Let's take a quick pause in the gameplay to show off some cosmetics we've been working

02:13on to style up our squirrel.

02:15My favorite outfit is the diving suit because it lets you explore a hidden underwater cave

02:20that you otherwise wouldn't have access to.

02:23A few of the cosmetics even have tactical effects.

02:26Wearing a bomb suit will reduce explosive damage, and the sparkler hat can light propane

02:30tanks on fire.

02:32And of course, you can't have a squirrel with a gun without the gun.

02:35There's seven different weapons to unlock in the game, each with its own unique takedown

02:39and jump boost.
