00:00Hi, I'm tech writer Matt Mohn-Hickson, and I'm here in Yerevan, Armenia, for the World Congress on Innovation and Technology.
00:07I have a couple of free hours this morning, so I asked CHAP-GPT to plan some activities out for me.
00:13So let's see what I came up with.
00:15So, it started out with CHAP-GPT suggesting that I go to Republic Square, which is one of the big parts of Yerevan, one of the big sightseeing things.
00:35It has one of their big museums there, it has a lot of grand buildings, so it seemed like a pretty good option for a bit of tourism.
00:42So, left my hotel room, went down the elevator, went out of the hotel and onto the street.
00:48Unfortunately, I took a bit of a wrong turn, so I turned left out of my hotel and walked down the street.
00:56I thought that was the way to go.
00:58I ended up going through a lovely park, though.
01:01It was really, really pretty.
01:03All the buildings around were really pretty.
01:05It was, you know, very lively for a pretty early on a Monday morning, if we're being honest.
01:11Stumbled across an underground.
01:13I thought it was a passage that went under the road.
01:16I mean, it did go under the road, but it was also full of a big supermarket.
01:20I think it was 24 hours, so, yeah, if I have to be up early tomorrow for my flight, maybe I'll pop in there to get some energy drinks or something to keep me awake.
01:31Turned up, realised that I'd gone the wrong way.
01:36I currently don't have any phone signal or mobile data signal.
01:42So, if I don't have Wi-Fi, I don't have the internet, so I couldn't use Google Maps.
01:47I turned round, went back, sort of the way I came, but slightly different.
01:54So, I went down a pretty busy main street.
01:57Got to go through some of the cool crossings where they do the countdowns for traffic lights, which is really interesting.
02:04It counts down from when it's on red, then it goes on green, and then it counts down from green to go back to red, and so on.
02:11And finally found Republic Square, which, as you can see in the footage, is really, really, really impressive.
02:19Some of it is government buildings, some of it's hotels, and then there's the big museum on the other side, a big grand museum, which is really, really eye-catching.
02:30I haven't had a chance to go inside yet.
02:33Maybe later, if we finish early at the conference, we'll get a chance to go to it, but fingers crossed.
02:39Now, Chapter UPT had suggested that I see the Cascades, which is this really, really striking monument in Yerevan, which has got over 2,000 steps.
02:52It's got art designs, like modern installations on each.
02:56After a number of steps, it's got a different modern art installation, then some more steps.
03:04And it's got over 2,000 steps in total, one for each year that Yerevan has existed.
03:10But, as mentioned, I didn't have Google Maps, and I didn't really want to just roam around the streets of Yerevan without really knowing where I was going.
03:21So, it suggested, as well, that I went to a coffee.
03:24So, it suggested, as well, that I get a coffee.
03:28I went to the... I spotted a shop.
03:32It had a big sign for pumpkin spice latte outside.
03:35Then I realized I'm trying to avoid caffeine in the morning, so I decided to go back to my hotel and have some breakfast.
03:42Chapter UPT had suggested a few places for breakfast, but the hotel has breakfast and wanted to save a little bit of money.
03:49So, that was my free morning in Yerevan.
03:52I'm now preparing to head to the World Congress on Innovation and Technology for the final day here in Yerevan, Armenia.
04:01I've been TechWriter Matt Mohan-Hickson.
