00:00This has to be very interesting to get me out of my shelter and have a drink.
00:10It's going to be interesting, but how is it not going to be interesting?
00:12Look, you're lying there in a shelter.
00:14What, are you going to tell your grandchildren,
00:15look, in 2024 I was in a shelter?
00:19No, man, what are you going to tell them?
00:21Hey, in 2024 I remember when I went in search of the whale shark.
00:26And why is the whale shark so important?
00:29In Puerto Princesa, visitors have the unique opportunity
00:33to see these colossi in their natural habitat.
00:36The crystal clear waters and the biodiversity of the area
00:39create the perfect environment for ecotourism.
00:42The whale shark sighting tours
00:44allow travelers to immerse themselves in an unforgettable experience,
00:48swimming with these magnificent creatures
00:50while preserving respect for their natural environment.
00:54I've never dived with one, I've dived with many species,
00:56but whale shark, that's my dream.
00:58And I've been looking for it in different countries,
01:00and I've been diving in different places,
01:02and it's never, never a season.
01:04It's never a season.
01:05I always arrive and the season has passed.
01:07No, look, the whale shark just happened two days ago,
01:09not today.
01:10So it's hard to find them, but here,
01:12here there is a whale shark,
01:14because the whale shark is from warm places.
01:17It's the biggest fish in the world.
01:23You don't care?
01:24No, yes, that's what we're going to...
01:25You don't feel the same?
01:26No, I don't feel the same.
01:27I mean, you can have a dream and I can't.
01:28No, but I...
01:29If I want to dream of diving with a whale shark,
01:31it doesn't matter.
01:33I'll be with you in your dreams, Gordo.
01:35But I have it on my face, man.
01:38And here we were,
01:39in the place where the meeting with Isaac would take place,
01:42and I could finally make my dream come true.
01:45Whale shark, I'm coming for you.
01:49Isaac!
01:50Man, Jorge, as usual.
01:52How are you?
01:53How are you?
01:54Hey, I want to introduce you to my friend, Francisco.
01:56How are you?
01:57Nice to meet you.
01:58How are you?
01:59Spanish?
02:00Yes, yes, Spanish.
02:01But I've been living here for 10 years,
02:02and 23 years in Asia.
02:03Well, the boat is ready if you want,
02:05and we're going to see the whale shark,
02:07to see if we can see it.
02:08What possibilities do we have to see the whale shark?
02:10At the moment,
02:11the season hasn't officially started yet, but...
02:13Shit, the same thing always happens to me.
02:15But they're here, but they're here.
02:16Really?
02:17I've been following him around the world,
02:19and I always get there,
02:20and just as the season was over...
02:22If you want, I can promise you
02:23that today you'll see the whale shark,
02:25up close,
02:26but in a hundred-dollar bill.
02:28If you see the reverse of the hundred-dollar bill,
02:31you'll see a drawing of a whale shark.
02:33Oh, so it's something...
02:34Look, just a thousand,
02:35just a thousand...
02:36No, a thousand comes out of your pocket.
02:38Two hundred and fifty, a hundred.
02:39Look, here's the whale shark.
02:41Ah, look.
02:42Yes, yes, yes.
02:43Tourism is very strong here,
02:45and obviously,
02:46thinking that the whale shark,
02:47which is the home of the Philippine whale shark,
02:49there are about 2,000 whale sharks
02:51that come here to visit us
02:54every year.
03:04Hey, this is a great place.
03:15How much do we have to sail
03:16to be able to meet the whale shark?
03:19Well, normally,
03:20it's here coming out of...
03:22This is a cape.
03:23So, coming out of the cape,
03:25it's around there.
03:26We'll be there for about 20 or 25 minutes
03:28to see it,
03:29to get to the point.
03:42The whale shark has many teeth.
03:44It has about 350 teeth,
03:46but it uses it as a filter.
03:48So, what it does
03:49is absorb 6,000 liters of water
03:51with all the fish,
03:52with all the fish
03:53and with everything that comes,
03:55and then it sucks it,
03:57and that's it.
03:58Hey, can 6,000 liters suck you too?
04:01Also.
04:02If you stand in front of it,
04:03think that the mouth of a whale shark
04:05is about a meter, a meter and a half.
04:07So, if you stand in front of it,
04:09the same thing will happen to you as to Pinocchio.
04:11But wait, wait.
04:12If what we want to do now
04:14is dive,
04:15or see it from the little boat,
04:17I mean, can it suck us?
04:19No, because,
04:20let's see, to suck you,
04:21you would have to be in front of the mouth
04:23at the exact moment,
04:24and no, no,
04:25there is no danger.
04:26In fact,
04:27you, Francisco,
04:28will not be sucked.
04:29Look at the size it has, man.
04:30The mouth is about a meter, man.
04:32Like a filter
04:33that only lets small things pass
04:35and that's it.
04:40And is this a place
04:41where many tourists come?
04:44Palawan is a place
04:45that they have just practically discovered.
04:47Ten years ago,
04:48no one came
04:49because, obviously,
04:50Palawan is a prison.
04:51I mean,
04:52we, the Spaniards,
04:53used Palawan as a prison.
04:56All the unwanted people
04:58were sent here,
04:59or in some islands here,
05:01for example, in Cuyo,
05:02all the people were sent with leprosy.
05:06During the Spanish colonial era
05:08and the American occupation,
05:09Palawan was used
05:10as a detention place.
05:13The best known of these facilities
05:15was the Iwahi prison.
05:17This prison was inaugurated in 1904
05:20under the American administration.
05:24On the one hand,
05:25backpackers began to come a lot,
05:27backpackers,
05:28to the nest.
05:29The nest was an area
05:30that the Filipinos
05:31did not give any importance to
05:33and backpackers made it fashionable.
05:40And then it has also become famous
05:42for the Underground River,
05:43which I would like to take you to later,
05:45because the Underground River
05:47is a cave
05:48that has been named
05:50one of the new
05:51seven wonders of the world.
05:52And we would have to go
05:53after seeing the shark?
05:54Yes, yes,
05:55we are going to try to see
05:56the shark first
05:57and then I will take you there
05:59and you will like it a lot.
06:03Oh,
06:04how delicious it is to be here!
06:06I had taken, yes,
06:07I had taken
06:08a mango juice
06:10mixed with rum.
06:11So,
06:12nothing,
06:14I was happy.
06:16And suddenly,
06:17get out!
06:18The reality is to come to the dive.
06:22And what are the chances
06:23that we do not see
06:24the whale shark?
06:25Already,
06:26the Malagüero bird!
06:27Well,
06:28why the Malagüero bird
06:29if there is also the possibility?
06:30We need to think about that.
06:31In fact,
06:32there is no time,
06:33but,
06:34that is,
06:35the time starts
06:36two weeks from now,
06:37but,
06:38have you seen
06:39some whale sharks
06:40doing submarine diving?
06:41There may be
06:42some possibilities
06:43to see it today.
06:44What happens is that,
06:45of course,
06:46it has to be a coincidence
06:47that they go out
06:48to eat plankton on the surface
06:49and you have to go down
06:50many meters.
06:51Here you have to think
06:52that the whale shark
06:53is in a wild state.
06:54You have to cross your fingers
06:55and see what happens.
07:02Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!
07:08According to the GPS,
07:09this is the exact position
07:10where we can see
07:11where there are many probabilities.
07:23The best thing is
07:24that we should be prepared.
07:25I am going to give you
07:26these fins
07:27so that you are prepared.
07:28In case we see something,
07:29you have to take off your clothes
07:30and you have to put on
07:31the fins
07:32and the mask,
07:33the mask above all.
07:34You don't have to touch them.
07:35You have to think that
07:36we are spectators.
07:37So you have to jump close
07:38and try not to touch it
07:39and then it will turn slowly
07:40and go away
07:41in case we see it.
07:47We are going to wait here
07:48because I think
07:49it's going to be
07:50the best of all
07:51because going around
07:52this is very big.
07:57We are going to wait here
07:58because I think
07:59it's going to be
08:00the best of all
08:01because going around
08:02this is very big.
08:05We are going to wait here
08:06because I think
08:07it's going to be
08:08the best of all
08:09because going around
08:10this is very big.
08:18Hey, you can't see a bird
08:19or you can't see anything.
08:21Yeah, it's complex.
08:35What time is it?
08:36And how is the water?
08:38I don't see much
08:39plankton activity either.
08:41I see it difficult,
08:42to be honest.
08:43How difficult?
08:44Let's see, wait.
08:45I see it,
08:46it's going to be complicated
08:47to see them.
08:48Maybe it's very low.
08:49As the water is hot,
08:50maybe they have gone
08:51further down
08:52because I don't see
08:53a lot of plankton floating
08:54or maybe they have
08:55already passed through here.
08:56But I don't see the birds
08:57honestly.
08:58There are about 50-100
08:59birds flying around
09:00and now I don't see...
09:01We've been here
09:02for several hours
09:03and I haven't seen anything.
09:06I don't think
09:07we're going to be lucky.
09:10How are we not going
09:11to be lucky?
09:29We've been caught
09:30by a whale shark.
09:31The same thing
09:32always happens to me.
09:33Every time I've been
09:34close to the possibility
09:35of diving with one,
09:36or it's already happened,
09:37or it's not
09:38the migration season,
09:39or...
09:40Anyway.
09:41Yes, I think
09:42it happens in the data.
09:43Hey, there's Jorge!
09:50They are living beings.
09:53They are free beings.
09:55So having the possibility
09:56of seeing one
09:57is a great luck.
09:59And I haven't had it
10:00until now.
10:01But don't be sad, man.
10:03I swear that
10:04at some point in life
10:05we're going to find
10:06a whale shark.
10:07I don't think so.
