00:00The head coach of the Malaysian Athletics Association, Robert Ballard,
00:04acknowledged the extraordinary achievement of the international athlete
00:07at the opening ceremony of the Sarawak Super Series 5,
00:09which just ended on Sunday.
00:11The celebration must be directed to the women's volleyball athlete,
00:14Nani Syahirah, and the national 100-meter runner-up,
00:17Zaidatul Husnia Hazrulkifli,
00:19who each broke the national record.
00:25I think it's really good to see.
00:27This is really encouraging.
00:29Two national records in the women's 100 meters,
00:33which is a 31-year-old record, has been broken finally.
00:39They've been really close to breaking the record over many times,
00:43but now we have our first legal performance.
00:46Congratulations to Zaidatul Husnia for that performance.
00:51I'm really happy for her to do that.
00:55I look forward to even greater things coming forward for 2025,
00:59for the next SEA Games.
01:04A lot of people think that there's age.
01:09Even myself, I ran a personal best
01:11eight years after making the Olympics at the age of 32.
01:14Athletics is one of these sports
01:16where maturity can actually improve your performance.
01:21The average age of a finalist at Paris was 26.5 in the finals.
01:27Then to see Nani, I really was impressed
01:29with her speed in the circle yesterday
01:32and getting a new national record in the women's shot put.
01:37I can see that there's continued progression happening there,
01:40and I really like that.
01:42It's very encouraging for her.
01:44She's a young throwing athlete with lots of good potential
01:49alongside our other shot put in the male genre.
01:54It looks like Malaysia is going to be
01:57bringing out some shot putting champions in Southeast Asia.
02:00That's great.
02:02Ballot is also hoping that the final destination
02:05that will close the gap in Sarawak
02:07will show more national athletes breaking the national record.
