Erik ten Hag is set to take charge of Manchester United when they host Brentford in the Premier League this weekend, a week after his future was discussed by club chiefs at their latest executive committee summit. While it is acknowledged the start to the season has not been good enough, it is still only early days in the season and things could change quickly after the international break.

00:00Rich Foe here from Manchester World bringing you the latest on Eriksen Hogg's Manchester United future.
00:06And the news is, well it's the same as last week, Eriksen Hogg is set to take charge of Manchester United
00:12when they face Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.
00:15And he's set to stay in charge for the foreseeable future if all things go according to plan.
00:20Of course there was a lot of emphasis placed on the latest Manchester United executive committee summit in London a week ago.
00:28United sources maybe want to distance themselves from the importance of that meeting.
00:35It was a pre-arranged calendar event, it wasn't a reactionary meeting due to United's poor start to the season.
00:41It had been in the calendar for a while.
00:43We understand that United's poor start to the season was discussed as well as the future of Eriksen Hogg.
00:47Is he the right man to lead Manchester United?
00:50But having backed him in the summer, they have to back him now really.
00:54I know United will accept that the start to the season hasn't been good enough.
00:58But what has changed since the summer really in the managerial landscape?
01:02Gareth Southgate, the only notable name, who is now without a job.
01:06And he last week ruled himself out of taking any job for the next year.
01:11United of course extended Tim Hogg's contract.
01:13They backed him with another £200m in the transfer window as well.
01:18And now they need to try and reap the rewards for doing that and keeping their faith in the manager.
01:23It's United's third season at Manchester United.
01:25They are 14th in the Premier League, which I know isn't acceptable and sounds very, very bad.
01:30But it is quite sensational to suggest that is maybe work on a finish.
01:35Tim Hogg keeps on talking about May.
01:37He keeps on saying judges at the end of the season, judges on trophies then.
01:40He's still confident United might win some more silverware.
01:43And while the start to the season has been bad, it only takes two wins and United are back in the top four discussion.
01:49Not winning in the Europa League is obviously not ideal.
01:51But it's so difficult to actually get knocked out of the revamped competition this year.
01:55There's no real issues with that either.
01:57United of course into the next round of the Carabao Cup as well.
02:00They face Leicester at the end of the month.
02:02And the FA Cup will start the new year as well if Tim Hogg happens to be in charge by then.
02:07It is, you know, more faith in Tim Hogg for the foreseeable future.
02:11Like we said, there has to be an improvement.
02:13There can be no ignoring the fact that the results and the performances just haven't been good enough.
02:16But right now United are sticking by the under-fire manager.
02:19It is now down to him to guide United out of these choppy seas and to keep his job for the rest of the season.
02:25You can stick with us on Manchester World for all the latest Manchester United news.
