00:00Around six to seven hundred millions of cucumbers in the EU are covered by plastic film wrap.
00:17There are many benefits of plastic film wrap, but the plastic film wrap also has some serious
00:24negative impacts on the environment, on sea life and on the earth.
00:38With this project what we try to do is basically eliminating the usage of single plastic.
00:45What we do is replacing the plastic with a coating which is edible, we don't need to
00:51wash it off, you can basically take the cucumber and consume it as it is. We extract these materials
00:58from nature, we mix them together and after mixing them together we apply them on the
01:05cucumbers by spraying or dipping the cucumbers into the liquid. Our coating will provide a
01:11protection against gases, water losses and also microorganisms. 45 percent of fruits and vegetables
01:19get wasted in the world and 70 percent of fresh water is consumed to produce those fruits and vegetables.
