00:00As we saw, seven ranked top 25 teams a weekend ago losing. That was the most we have seen in a single weekend since the 2018 college football season.
00:15Five of those seven ranked teams ranked inside the top 11 and lost those games as well.
00:22So, that has certainly changed our picture of the college football playoff and the chase for a national championship.
00:29Kev, of course, Alabama suffered the defeat last week in Nashville against Vanderbilt outright as a 22.5 point favorite.
00:37The Crimson Tide were number one in the country at a minus 1200 price to reach the college football playoff.
00:43That has fallen off, but in this new era, it should be noted as you see the market movement week over week after the chaos of week number six,
00:53there are still chances to be had right here in this list. It's the five teams ranked inside the top 11 that were beat last week.
01:02Please note, Missouri and Michigan were underdogs.
01:05Yeah, so I, this week on Game Time Decisions, went through what I thought were the five best bets you could place inside the make-or-miss college football playoff market.
01:14And what I thought the best bet was and the bet that I made was Alabama to miss the playoff at plus 400.
01:22Preseason, this team was even money to make. They beat Georgia. I understand what that does.
01:29They lost to Vanderbilt. That is about as close as you can get to canceling it out.
01:35The reason that they held steady within this market, steady in the eight people, likely steady in the always important Ben's top 10, is the chaos around them.
01:44But that is where the value is created. Look at the Alabama remaining schedule.
01:49Do you think they're running the table? No shot. At Tennessee, at LSU, I see a split there, at best.
01:56And then you look at the remaining SEC games. Playing South Carolina today, a still-ranked Missouri team who could be dangerous.
02:05The Iron Bowl, which is the Iron Bowl, something a lot of people forgot about last year.
02:10And at Oklahoma, who will be desperate to knock off one of these top teams at some point this season.
02:17I believe that Alabama, finishing 9-3, is very on the board.
02:22Which is plus 200 for them to go under a 9.5 live win total.
02:26I'm getting double the number, Leecey, for them to miss the CFP.
02:30A team that lost to Vanderbilt, I think it's great value.
02:34Yeah, it's a great look. And let's not forget, 9.5 was the preseason win total for Caelan DeBoer in regards to this matchup.
02:41I thought they would have three losses. Now, I thought one of them would come to Georgia and never saw the loss.
02:46Coming to Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt last week, that's a team that they had beat 12 straight times.
02:52But the biggest factor for me, to Kevin's point, about why I can't back Alabama right here, right now, to make the college football playoff, Ben, it's the defense.
03:02I mean, we talked about it. Forget the offense. Forget Milrow. He's dynamic.
03:06We know he can put up 35, 40 points a game. That defense, from what we saw in the second half against Georgia, to what we saw against Vanderbilt, rushing for over five yards per carry.
03:16Holding them under, basically, their average in 100 yards for the game.
03:20That would never happen in a Nick Saban coach team.
03:23And that is the biggest reason why I'm backing off Alabama.
03:26And I like the look. I'm not betting it per se, but like I said, when I broke it down, I had them at 9-3 at the start.
03:36I'm not betting it per se, but like I said, when I broke it down, I had them at 9-3 at the start.
