00:00The score is the new short film from the team behind the award-winning horror short Out At Night,
00:04which screened at 13 international film festivals around the world.
00:07Where we promised with that film that being yourself can be a nightmare,
00:11now we're warning you, don't believe everything you hear.
00:14With the score, a darkly comedic thriller that asks,
00:18is anyone who they really think they are?
00:21Our film takes place over one night in an empty dive bar,
00:26where Cutler, the bar's owner, sits alone with a loaded gun.
00:31At the same time, Mika hides out in the bathroom,
00:34high on cocaine, paranoid, and trying to stay clear of her so-called friend next door.
00:40They reluctantly come together to complete a trade for the money Cutler desperately needs.
00:46But the other party, Portman and her bodyguards, are not who he was expecting.
00:51And they're everything Cutler isn't.
00:53Young, female, and in charge.
00:55And that's difficult for his ego to handle.
00:59Despite their building mistrust, they attempt to make the trade.
01:05But as tension and prejudice reach a crescendo,
01:08fingers and guns are pointed.
01:12It's then that they all realise something else is conducting this chaos.
01:17They can all hear the film's musical score.
01:22The same one that you, the audience watching the film,
01:26have been hearing the whole time.
01:28And this malevolent music is trying to get our characters to kill each other.
01:36With this film, we wanted to explore how scores are used
01:38not just to enhance the audience's experience,
01:40but how it manipulates them too.
01:43At the moment, the audience isn't worried.
01:45I could be reaching for anything.
01:47Say, an engagement ring to make a proposal.
01:52But now you're not so sure.
01:54Now it could be anything.
01:56Sounds like it could be something dangerous.
02:02With the score, we're taking this one step further
02:05and making the music that the audience is listening to
02:07the music that the audience is listening to
02:09the music that the audience is listening to
02:11and making the music a character in its own right.
02:14And we are blessed to have a wonderful composer in Raphael Thiebaud.
02:19Her incredible talent will imbue the score
02:21with as much depth and personality as any human actor.
02:24We also have an amazing group of professional, award-winning filmmakers
02:28that will make the score look as good as it sounds,
02:31including Sarah Smither as our visionary director of photography.
02:36We're also partnering with the amazing pre- and post-production house
02:41Films at 59.
02:43And now we're asking you to join our team too
02:45because that's how we see everyone who donates to this project.
02:48It doesn't matter if it's a couple of pounds or a lot more
02:51it all goes towards hiring cast and crew,
02:53insurance, location hire
02:55and a hundred other things that are all part of filmmaking.
02:58Think of it as paying for your cinema ticket in advance
03:01as you'll be among the first to see the score when it's ready.
03:04We promise, like any good earworm
03:06that you won't be able to get the score out of your head.
