00:00If you've been impacted by Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton,
00:03here's how you can apply for aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
00:07There are four options.
00:08First, you could fill out an application at DisasterAssistance.gov.
00:12Second, you could also apply through the FEMA mobile app.
00:15Third, you could call FEMA's toll-free helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
00:21And fourth, you could show up in person at a disaster recovery center.
00:25Locations can be found on FEMA's website.
00:27However, according to CNN, those affected by Hurricane Milton will have to wait for an official federal disaster declaration.
00:33That hadn't happened yet as of Friday morning, but was expected later in the day.
00:37When you apply, you'll need your social security number, insurance information,
00:41a description of the damage you've suffered, your annual household income,
00:44your contact information, and bank account information for direct deposit.
00:48According to Axios, FEMA offers up to $42,500 to repair or rebuild a damaged home,
00:54as well as other types of aid, including a more immediate payment of $750 to buy supplies in a storm's aftermath.
01:00Misinformation has been spreading, claiming that the $750 payment is the entirety of the aid available to victims.
01:06But those who believe this could end up missing out on significant amounts of support.
