00:00It was held in the Senate at the Sugar Room of the Palazzo Giustiniani the delivery of the Guido d'Orso awards promoted by the association presided by Nicola Squitieri and arrived this year at the 45th edition.
00:18The initiative, entitled Al Meridionalista Erpino, is sponsored by the Senate of the Republic, by the National Research Council and by the University of Naples Federico II
00:29and it marks, since 1970, contextually young students of our noon and personalities of the institutional, economic, scientific and cultural world
00:39who have contributed with their activities to support the development and progress needs of the South.
00:45We can make a first balance because after 45 years we have carried forward in our message of every year with this celebration in the Senate of the Republic
00:57a noon that works, that operates, that produces and outside the stereotypical schemes of a noon that wants only assistentialism
01:08and therefore this has been one of our goals, to highlight, to give visibility to the great excellences of our territory.
01:16We have awarded great characters together with young people, this is important to underline because the award is born for young people
01:26and therefore a passage, almost as a witness, between these great characters, we said, and these young people who face, let's say, the studies they have carried out,
01:37studies of economy, let's say, of art, of all sectors on the noon and in the noon.
01:44And the thread that unites them all is a civic commitment, a commitment of all to continue to do our battle for the noon,
01:53not those of Guido d'Urso, but in any case he had also inspired a new awareness that is taking shape, this noon that changes paradigms,
02:03that changes everything a bit and therefore this hope and hope for us has also come out of this meeting today.
02:14Among the awards of the 2024 edition for the special sections, the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi,
02:21was also awarded a recognition for the edition to Giuseppe Marra, president of the GMC group at DN Kronos.
02:29From this year, the award is enriched with a new section dedicated to the Mediterranean,
02:33which intends to enhance the commitment of how many people and organizations are distinguished internationally
02:40in promoting and supporting the development needs of the Mediterranean area in a solid, cooperative and peaceful way.
02:48It is an award that has honored me a lot for its importance, its historical value,
02:52and also because Guido d'Urso was a great intellectual of the South, my fellow countryman,
02:58and his thought is still very current, the thought of a South that must shorten the distances from the North,
03:08from the rest of the country, starting from its own ruling class. So I was very happy.
03:13I liked that there was also the opportunity made, in short, a reference made by other stakeholders,
03:20also the G7 of Mirabelle Clano, which I had the pleasure of organizing in Irpini, which is my homeland of Guido d'Urso,
03:27so a beautiful occasion of which I am grateful to the organizers also for the award.
