President Biden has postponed a planned international trip as the southeast of the US braces for the arrival of a hurricane that is predicted to be one of the worst in a century.

“I just don’t think I can be out of the country at this time,” Biden said at the White House on Tuesday, as nearly six million Floridians were advised to leave their homes before the arrival of Hurricane Milton.

Biden had been scheduled to depart on Thursday for a US military base in Germany to host a summit on the war in Ukraine with allied nations before travelling to Angola.
