As for the haters ... CS could not care less some fans are losing their minds and even using the word “betrayed” when it comes to the ending. As he sees it … that much ridiculous vitriol means the film did its job ... even if it means a box office bomb.

00:00Well, first of all, I think it was polarizing before the movie even came out.
00:06First of all, which I think is a good thing.
00:11I remember when it was announced that it was a musical or musical-esque, people from the
00:16jump were already like, what, like, you know?
00:20And I was like that too.
00:21I was like, what?
00:22Like, what does that even mean?
00:23What does that look like?
00:24Especially because the first one was so raw and grimy and brutalist.
00:31So I think it was polarizing before it was even seen, and then I think people's reaction
00:35to it being polarizing makes sense.
00:41Also I can't speak for anyone, I can't speak for Todd or anyone in it, but I also think
00:46they knew that was the case too.
00:49I mean, you don't make such a big swing like that without knowing that it gives people
00:54the opportunity to not get behind your choices.
00:58So I think in the long run, I think being polarizing is really good.
01:03I would rather things be polarizing than be, you know, kind of boring or squeaky clean.
01:11I also think polarizing in this case is impressive more than anything because it's about the
01:17choices.
01:18It's not about their execution, you know, because you can't deny that the execution
01:22of the movie is like, is expert level good.
01:26Yeah, I mean, I honestly just commend Todd for having the balls to make such a bold swing.
01:36Especially knowing, like we say, the fanatics following Joker and especially the praise
01:40that the first one had.
01:44Yeah, I'm not shocked that people are either pro or against, you know, what goes down in
01:57it.
02:00I find that exciting in its own way, but that's kind of me being my own film critic, you know?
02:05I think it's kind of cool in a weird way.
02:11Because obviously you want an audience to like your work and you want people to be pleased
02:16with it.
02:17But I don't think they knew what they were doing.
02:23I mean, everyone who's involved in this movie is like top of their craft.
02:28Like Warner Brothers, like it's a huge, huge movie.
02:31You know, they know that they're swinging.
02:36But I mean, there were even people when the first one came out, which was, which was,
02:42you know, so embraced and so loved.
02:44There were even people, fanatics at that time that were not excited about it.
02:50You know, or, you know, people who followed the Joker lore so hard, you know, had their
02:54qualms with that, you know, and that's like a perfect movie, you know, it's super renowned.
03:02I don't feel any sort of way about people maybe not enjoying my element of the movie
03:09just because I like it so much, like, and I think it's so cool, you know?
03:16And I love, I love like the rug being pulled out from an audience.
03:24If I can leave a movie, I'm trying to think of the last movie that did that to me.
03:28I like movies that leave you with this sense of almost not like hopelessness, but almost
03:35like, whoa, where are we?
03:37What's going on?
