Taiwan's National Day celebrations have brought together the nation's top athletes, Indigenous dance groups and military bands for a grand show in front of the Presidential Office.

00:12And so did a dozen performance groups showcasing the country's diversity.
00:20The Taipei First Girls High School Honor Guard kicked off the parade, accompanied by the
00:24Air Force's Brave Eagles aerobatics team.
00:27And behind them on the main stage, President Lai Ching-te, watching them for the first
00:31time as the nation's leader.
00:45Some spectators were excited to see the same bands that perform each year, while others
00:50were there to catch a glimpse of some of the country's hottest athletes, including Olympic
00:54champions like gold medalist boxer Lin Yu-ting and some younger stars.
01:18There was also a special performance from ALEPHIS, an Amis dance group from Hualien
01:22County in east Taiwan, an area hard hit by a deadly earthquake earlier this year.
01:32The celebration was meant to highlight the country's achievements in the past year,
01:39emphasizing its multiculturalism, unity and strength.
01:42Now the festivities are set to continue with a fireworks show in Yunlin County in central
01:47Taiwan, really spreading that celebratory spirit from here at the Presidential Office
01:52to every corner of the nation on its birthday.
