00:00Hey, Rolando, thank you for calling.
00:04Hey, how's it going, guys?
00:05What's on the show? Enjoying it?
00:07Not that much.
00:08I want to give my two cents on this whole.
00:09So according to some some some pundits out there in the Bay Area,
00:14Grant Cohen, that apparently Kyle Shannon has already lost the locker room.
00:18Apparently they're going to clean house and clean going to fire him.
00:22So I just don't I don't like when people just yeah, exactly.
00:26Yeah, that's what I think.
00:27Yeah, apparently. Don't listen to it.
00:32Don't let it get on your team.
00:35According to him, according to him, the team's gone to hell.
00:38They got no chance.
00:39They're going to fire Shannon Lynch and they're going to clean house
00:43after what, five games.
00:44So Rolando, just just my advice to you, you can take it or leave it.
00:48It doesn't matter.
00:49You lost me out, according to him.
00:52End of story.
00:55End of story, Rolando.
00:56You do not need to let that stuff into your space.
01:00That's like at a certain point.
01:02You know, this is to me and Rolando, thank you.
01:04This is kind of like the whole like, fool me once.
01:07Shame on you.
01:09Fool me twice. Shame on me.
01:11Fool me three, four, five, six billion times.
01:14Shame on me.
01:16Fool me three times.
01:17F the peace sign.
01:18Load the chopper.
01:20Let it rain on you.
01:21As Grandi Fulwell knows.
01:23Shout out J. Cole.
01:24And that's where, you know, if you want to talk about Grant Cone, he
01:29I won't say that he's an idiot because he's actually quite
01:34brilliant at doing what he does.
01:35But what he does is troll
01:39everybody who thinks that the points that he's making are actual points
01:43based on anything other than him trying to get attention and clicks.
01:48Because if you think that Kyle Shanahan's on the hot seat,
01:51then you also think that Steve Kerr is probably
01:56a three or four game losing streak away from getting fired.
01:59No, you're not wrong.
02:00I like the way you say that.
02:01So he's not he's playing a very lucrative game.
02:04Yes. But but if you follow, that's what you're a pawn in.
02:09You're a pawn in a game and and and lining someone's pockets.
02:14And you can be free and call this a sourced report.
02:19Sources tell me you are free to ignore
02:23every single report that's made.
02:27Yeah, it's all BS all the time, every time.
02:32And yes, to a degree, it's working if that's what you want to be involved in.
02:36If that's how you want to build your career
02:38and you don't care about facts and reputation
02:43and industry, all of those things, if you don't care about any of that stuff,
02:48the names of everyone else that you sully, if you don't care about that stuff,
02:52you're free to do it.
02:53There's a lot of it going on in society right now.
02:56It even is happening in the middle of our presidential election.
02:59And then if you now I'm talking to the rest of you,
03:02if you want to be a pawn in the game,
03:06go right ahead.
03:07It's free world.
03:09You get to click on whatever the hell you want.
03:10You do. You get to watch whatever you want.
03:12Now, this is not to say that Kyle Shanahan is beyond reproach,
03:16because I don't think that Kyle Shanahan has had a great year.
03:19No, when you're two and three, you cannot look at Kyle Shanahan and say,
03:23well, he's had a fantastic year coaching.
03:26You've got a special teams unit that has been shaky and shoddy at best.
03:31You've had a red zone offense that has gone from the best in football
03:35to the third worst in football.
03:37And you've got a lot of questions about your game management
03:41and your overall success rate here through five games.
03:45So this is not to excuse Kyle Shanahan, but to go from a struggling team to.
03:51Well, he might, you know, you lose Thursday and I don't know.
03:54No, no, no. Those are those are excellent points.
03:57No, it's not been a good year for Kyle Shanahan.
03:59I don't know that it's been a good year for anyone.
04:01Like maybe Fred Warner. Yeah.
04:03But he probably wouldn't say that either.
04:05You know, we're two and three.
04:07Juwan Jennings. Yeah, I guess.
04:08But he's a team guy, too.
04:10Like I wouldn't even speak after his 179 yard game.
04:14But but like, no, he's not beyond reproach, but he's beyond the hot seat right now.
04:18Of course, that's ridiculous.
04:20Like Robert Sala lost his job at two and three
04:24because I think he was 20 and 36 in his first three plus years
04:28with no playoff berths and an owner who is not a very good owner
04:33and a GM who didn't have his back and a quarterback who, whatever you believe,
04:37certainly wasn't there to to fight for him.
04:41And you look at Shanahan at two and three.
04:43Well, they've made the NFC championship game three of the last four.
04:47And he has a winning record.
04:49And he has an extension and a GM who loves him and an owner
04:52who can't wait to give him more years and more money.
04:55So miss me with the hot seat talk.
04:57Let's go to Dave and Fresno. Hi, Dave. Thank you for calling.
05:01Oh, no, you guys set me up beautifully.
05:03You must have knew I was about to call, man, because felt I do.
05:09It drives me kind of crazy, man.
05:10Like to hear you guys.
05:12I listened this morning and you hear fans calling in,
05:15you know, with their frustration with Shanahan.
05:18It's like Shanahan.
05:19It's like he's like it's like you guys as a kid.
05:22Like you can't talk about Shanahan. Don't don't talk about him.
05:24He's been to so many Super Bowls, the NFC championship.
05:27He's the first coach in NFL history to have been to a Super Bowl
05:31when the championship cannot have his job question.
05:34He is he is like the football guy.
05:36Don't you dare look at him? Yeah.
05:38You know, where do you want to go back to Tom?
05:41So Chip Kelly, like when there's smoke, there's fire.
05:44There's enough people to come in with frustration
05:47and nobody's saying fire him today.
05:49I'm not saying that.
05:50But accountability needs to be had more of.
05:54And it starts with me.
05:54No, I say that because this guy, the head coach,
05:58he's the one that asked for full control of his team.
06:00He has. You know, I know I said that because he said no to Tom Brady
06:04because that's him giving up control.
06:06He has full control of the roster, of the draft picks, personnel who get signed.
06:12And this owner has given everything he could ask for.
06:14You want Debo resign?
06:15There you go. You want the highest paid fullback?
06:17Here you go. You want to you want Jimmy instead of Tom?
06:19OK, if you want, Kyle, that's whatever you want.
06:23You want to get a resign?
06:24You want to resign? You want to resign? You want this guy?
06:26He's gotten everything he wants.
06:28So now stuff hits the fan and that he's had full control over.
06:32And you can't question him.
06:33Like nobody's saying that.
06:35So, Dave, Dave, can I offer this to you?
06:37Yeah. Can I offer this to you?
06:38I think what happens here is a macro micro conversation
06:42and people get it kind of twisted and confused.
06:46I think if anybody wants to question the micro,
06:49if you want to get mad at this thing that happened in the game on Sunday
06:54or this aspect of Kyle Shanahan that's reared its ugly head,
06:58you know, the blown leads in the fourth quarter kind of a thing
07:02when that's reared its ugly head twice in the last three weeks.
07:05I think you'll find everybody here and most people out there very open to that.
07:10I think that those are fair conversations.
07:13What happens too often, though, is that when people are assessing
07:17stuff in football or any sport, for that matter,
07:21when we talk about those frustrations, we immediately take it to job status.
07:26And I even saw somebody who supposedly higher up, not higher up,
07:31but one of the bigger new media voices of the forty niners
07:36suggested that if they don't make the playoffs this year,
07:38he would advocate the firing of Kyle Shanahan.
07:41That's taking micro to macro because, Dave,
07:46don't you admit that in the grand scheme of Kyle Shanahan,
07:51there's been a whole lot of impressive and success? No.
07:58Yes. Yes.
07:59But let me ask you this and I'll leave it. I'll leave out with this.
08:02Let me make two quick points. Two quick points.
08:05Look at the last three draft classes. OK.
08:08Not much to show for it.
08:10And people are like, oh, we look old.
08:12There's not a lot of new juice.
08:13And I know there is early success and we've hit on draft picks.
08:17But lately, it's been a lot of miss.
08:19Who could you hang your hat on now?
08:21Besides Brock? And I know Brock's a big piece.
08:24It's been, you know, like, well, hold on.
08:27Wait a second.
08:28And then and then this and to your point, it's to what end?
08:32So let's say he's on year eight, year nine, year 10, year 11.
08:36At what point do you say, you know what? It's raining.
08:39But we're not there yet.
08:40We're not there yet, Dave.
08:42And Dave, thank you very much. We got a bogey.
08:44We're not there yet. We don't need to worry about year 10 yet.
08:47We're here now.
08:49And nobody with their head screwed on straight wants a different coach
08:52than they have.
08:54There's nobody out there that you want more so than Kyle.
08:57That's the macro, the micro.
09:00You want to blow leads and have a bad special teams?
09:02Yeah, let's talk about it.
09:03It's not been a great year so far for Kyle.
09:06I'm totally comfortable with that.
09:07I look at Kyle as a bank account where he still has money in the account.
09:12Now, the account has been depleted a little bit over the last five games.
09:16But you look at the balance and there still is enough in the balance
09:19to where you're going to keep that account.
09:21You're not going to cash out the account and just take the money and run.
09:24There's still a balance in the account.
09:27Now, you're nine, 10 and 11.
09:29If we get through those years and you don't see anything
09:33that is appreciably better roster wise, results wise,
09:37we can talk about it then.
09:38But right now, what he's done and where they are,
09:41you definitely keep the money in the account.
09:43I'll also add this real quick, because he talks about the last three drafts.
09:46I don't know how you can assess this draft yet.
09:48It's way too early to say whether all these guys hits, misses Dominic Pooney,
09:53Malik Mustafa. I don't know yet fully.
09:56These aren't fully baked pieces.
09:58And then outside of that, have they been great drafts
10:01the last two years before that?
10:03While I'd agree with the answer, no, I'd also tell you
10:06if you offered any NFL team, hey, we're going to give you three drafts.
10:11The only thing you're going to get out of it is a franchise QB
10:16and you get nothing else.
10:20They'd all take it.
