00:00Morning, it is Monday 7th of October 2024 and I'm off to London to see David Icke do
00:12an event. This is a bit different than last time because he's doing a question and answer
00:17thing not a full presentation like it was at Leeds. So yeah, this should be really really
00:22good. So, arrived at Central Station without any hassle. Gone for the breakfast wrap. Got
00:38to be done, I need a big breakfast. Yeah, just waiting on the train now, Platform 4.
00:44Be about 10-15 minutes probably.
01:14So, welcome to London. Time is currently 5 past 1. Train was slightly delayed getting
01:30here. Difficult journey really, it took a while for me to get comfortable on the train
01:36but eventually I dozed off so I spent a lot of the journey asleep, thankfully. It's a
01:41long journey, that was 2 hours and 50 minutes. So now it's off to the underground and off
01:46to the hotel. Welcome to Gloucester Road. As is often the case with London, the weather
01:59is completely different. It's nice and sunny here compared to back home when it was raining
02:03and dull. As I say, Gloucester Road, Kensington area of London, wanted to stay in this hotel
02:10for quite some time. It's been on my radar for about 10 years. It's supposed to be really
02:15nice. The Bentley Hotel, just crossed the road there. Will it live up to the hype? I
02:21really hope so. Let's go check it out. First impressions, wow. Checked in, absolutely fine.
02:32Got escorted to the lift by one of the door people, concierge, that they're called. That's
02:39a new one. So this is the room. Brace yourself. That's the door where we come in. Very, very
02:49posh flooring. Really, really nice actually. We have got tea and coffee making facilities,
02:58a bottle of water, which is nice of them. I think, what's in here? Oh, it is the fridge.
03:08That's empty. Yeah. So that's the fridge. Oh God. What's in here? I'm going to guess
03:24this is a wardrobe. Oh, hello. The lights come on. That's quite cool. Oh dear. Can that open up?
03:32I don't want to break anything. We have, branding is on point, Bentley Hotel hangers, posh hangers
03:44as well. I don't know what that stain is. Got a safe. Looks very old actually. This is the safe.
03:53And we've even got an umbrella should we need it. Although I doubt it because it is lovely outside.
03:58And we've got the usual crap that we don't use, iron and the ironing board. So if we shut that.
04:04Oh, that's cool. The light goes out when you shut the door. Oh, that's very cool. Anyway,
04:12let's walk through. There's me. Hello. And this, this is the room. Possibly the most
04:22grandest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I've even got my own chandelier.
04:28Wow. That's all I can say. Absolutely stunning. Thick carpets,
04:37a nice big telly. Might use it later on, don't know. We have Sky apparently. Sky remote.
04:46Okay. I can't see Skybox though. I don't know where that is. And we've got desk.
04:56Antique desk for doing brewery type things. Clothes horse I think. Nice comfy chair.
05:05And table. Yeah. It's just gorgeous. There's no other word for it. What's the view like?
05:14Let's have a look. It's alright I suppose. I mean, there's not really much you can see
05:24because it's a very old building. So each level has got like this jittery out bit.
05:31But yeah, it's, it's alright, isn't it? Like it's, I mean, in terms of quality of room,
05:39it's more than alright. These thick curtains. It's like being at the Ritz, this. Yeah. Let's
05:47have a look at the bathroom and see what we can discover in there. Now I'm going to hazard a guess
05:53and say that's the light. Yes, it is. Oh wow. Jesus. I have no words really. Nice sink.
06:11Very, very nice. Gilchrist and Soames soap. Again, that's me. Yeah. Gilchrist and Soames
06:27shower gel and stuff. It's absolutely gorgeous in here. Oh, there's the toilet.
06:34Oh, there's the toilet. Just in the corner there. Very, it's difficult to say. Oh,
06:41we've even got a phone next to the toilet should I wish to call anybody. What's this?
06:49Sunnery bags. Oh well. By Gilchrist and Soames as well. Okay. That's a nice touch. Two toilet rolls.
06:57A very, very large shower. Yeah. And I believe we've got,
07:07this is the bath. We have a jacuzzi bath. That'll be getting used later on.
07:14Now knowing my luck, the jets will be knackered.
07:17Um, doesn't look too bad actually. Does it? Looks amazing. So yeah, that is,
07:28that's the bathroom of the hotel. Unbelievable. Oh, so let's see. First impressions. I'm just
07:36blown away by it all. So yeah, I'm going to have a few hours chill here now. It's two o'clock now,
07:44about five past two. Um, bit chill here and then on to the event. Now the event is, um,
07:53it's next to Oxford Street. It's Cavendish I think. The Cavendish events or Cavendish spaces
07:59or something like that. Um, so yeah, that's going to be a fantastic night. So I'll see you later on.
08:06So I've filled the bath up. Now, moment of truth. I'm going to hazard a guess
08:14and say this button on here turns the jets on. I think. Please work.
08:29You're kidding me. You are kidding. So sit rep, um, the bath isn't working properly.
08:38Typical. Um, I've just been down to reception to tell them that the jets aren't working. You
08:44press the button, nothing happens. Um, and apparently the concierge is sending someone
08:48up immediately. Let's wait and see what the outcome is. So a bit long winded that,
08:59a lovely maintenance guy. The staff are amazing. I can't, I can't fault the staff at all.
09:04Um, the maintenance guy came out, looked under the bath, turns out he fixed the, he fixed it
09:11sort of, but it was fixed for about four seconds. The jets came on and then went off.
09:17What he's put it down to, there's like a, a, a fuse, like not a fuse box, but there's like a
09:21motor under the bath that powers the jets. The motor box is, it keeps tripping. So it's not
09:28going to work. So what they're going to do, they're going to shift me to a completely different room.
09:33And welcome to the next room. Um, the only difference is I've actually been upgraded.
09:38Um, we'd now have a much bigger room. Absolutely huge actually. Um, and a set to sit on as well.
09:46Um, it's a deluxe king room, this one. Um, it was a deluxe queen room that we, I was in.
09:52Um, but yeah, it's exactly the same. Um, yeah. So now I'm going to try again with the bath.
09:59Take two. Oh, that was lovely. I really enjoyed that bath. Um, had the bath. The jacuzzi jets
10:05worked thankfully. I'll just quickly show you because they were working two minutes ago. Uh,
10:16and now they're not again.
10:23Only me. Um, they did actually work. It was lovely. Um, I don't know if it's the correct
10:28position that you put your finger on when I was in there and I pressed it thinking it's not going
10:33to work in the burst of the life. So it's a bit, uh, sporadic power to the jacuzzi. Um,
10:39like I say, when it works, it's, uh, it's wonderful. Um, so yeah, I'm going to head up
10:45now. I've got some food. I blocked this. Yeah. Somehow this, he has blocked with something
10:51and I just, I can't hear anything out of it. So that's going to be interesting and a speaking
10:55event. So I'm going to have to make sure I sit close to the front this time. Um, well,
11:00as close as I can anyway. Um, so yeah, I will see you later on.
11:25Yeah.
11:38And welcome back to the hotel after a fantastic evening. Um, the show was so different to the
11:44last two, um, started off with an hour chat, um, with David and Chrissy on the stage. And then
11:53we went to one hour and 33 minutes because went over time, um, of Q and A with the audience.
11:59So that was fantastic. Um, got chatting to a guy who flown in from Austin, Texas, um, to see the
12:06show. Uh, crazy, crazy, uh, lovely guy though. Um, got chatting to him, went for a few drinks
12:13afterwards. Um, I also got backstage again, see David, as you saw, and got another picture and
12:20got two more of my books signed. So that's, that's all great. Um, lovely to see him again,
12:24of course. Um, yeah, it was just a really lovely night. What isn't nice is the weather. It's
12:31starting to rain pretty heavy. Um, so I've got soaks coming back. Um, yeah, so that's, that's
12:38not great, but I'm back at the hotel and dry now, so that's fine. Uh, just had myself a Burger King
12:44for tea cause I was pretty hungry. Um, yeah, time for bed now cause I'm up, not early, but
12:51you know, I want to have a decent sleep, so I will say good night and I'll see you in the morning.
12:58Morning. Um, that was a bit of a rough night actually. Um, I got some sleep, but
13:07you know, the bed was hard. Uh, just been down for breakfast. Um, bit different breakfast wise.
13:14It wasn't a kind of buffet style. It was you order from the waitress, from the menu. So that
13:21was a bit different. Um, I'll put a picture in there for you right now.
13:28Yeah, so it was, it was nice. It was all right. Um, how would I rate the stay though at the Bentley?
13:36It's hard because it is, it's a nice building. Um, but it just needs everything to be that little
13:44bit better, I think. Um, and the carpets are stained, um, cause it's an old building. Um,
13:52obviously the, the electric things in the bathroom for the jacuzzi jets, they need severe work.
13:59Um, to get that up to scratch to work properly. Now time to go for the train back home.
14:05Um, so thank you for watching and I'll see you next time.
14:16So welcome to Gloucester Road. Um, I've been in this area before, but not this hotel.
14:21Um, the hotel over there is, cheers love.
14:28So, moment of truth. Bath is filled. Do the jets work?
14:36Where's the button? Oh, it's on this side. Please work.
14:47You are taking the piss!
