00:00My name is Peter Jameson Sinclair and I've always had this thing that makes me want to draw. I've
00:07got to draw. I have to do it. It's not a matter of money. It's not a matter of,
00:11of, of, oh, yeah, I need to, I need to pay a bill. Let's do a painting and sell it. I've got to do
00:19it. The forging, I like sticking two fingers up at the establishment. There was a forger,
00:26I say was because he's dead now, a guy called Eric Heaven. He would do pen and ink washes in
00:31the styles of preparatory sketches because nobody used to keep sketches when they were an artist.
00:39He ended up bragging about it and wrote a book, how to do it, how to do this, how to do that.
00:48And one of his justifications was he could turn around to someone and say, well,
00:53not making anything of his own art. But these people go, oh, yeah, so see the delicacy of the
01:01brush strokes. And on one occasion, Antony Blunt was ranting and raving, oh, sublime.
01:10And Heaven just picked it up and went, I did that last night. And that motivates me a lot.
01:19It gives me energy. It does. I love it. I love being able to because the art world is very
01:27pompous. It's very pompous. Most of these people would not survive in any kind of job,
01:35not even as a chef. They then dictate as to how this world that they can't actually do works.
01:47And they set the rules and they set the commissions. That's wrong. That is it's
01:55criminal. So I like very much the idea of sticking two fingers up at these people because it's like,
02:02oh, yes, well, I had someone turn around and say about my Caravaggio as well. So it's very A-level.
02:08You do it. Go on, you do it. No, you can't, can you?
