00:00Watch this clip last night where he's asked a question
00:03about claiming he was in Hong Kong
00:05while the Tiananmen Square protests were going on.
00:10Listen to one of the worst answers you have ever heard
00:13in any debate, in any arena, in any space in politics
00:17on this rock we call Earth.
00:19Check this out.
00:19It's about trying to do the best you can for your community
00:22and then it's putting yourself out there
00:24and letting your folks understand what it is.
00:26My commitment, whether it be through teaching,
00:28which I was good at,
00:29or whether it was being a good soldier
00:31or was being a good member of Congress,
00:33those are the things that I think are the values
00:34that people care about.
00:36Governor, just to follow up on that,
00:39the question was, can you explain the discrepancy?
00:42All I said on this was is I got there that summer
00:44and misspoke on this, so I will just,
00:48that's what I've said.
00:50So I was in Hong Kong and China
00:53during the democracy protests went in
00:56and from that I learned a lot
00:58of what needed to be in governance.
01:03The.
01:04The.
01:05The.
01:06The.
01:07The.
01:09Folks, seriously up there with Stockdale,
01:13when he couldn't answer a basic question why he was there?
01:16This has to be maybe the worst answer
01:19in a vice presidential debate.
01:21It's up there with Dan Quayle looking like
01:23a deer in headlights,
01:25when he called out about the Jack Kennedy line.
01:28He should have fired back some bomb,
01:30and he just couldn't do it.
01:32Walls doesn't know what to do,
01:34and he hilariously, at the end of this,
01:37at the end of it, hilariously, after saying he lied,
01:41basically admitting it, I misspoke,
01:42meaning he lied about being in Hong Kong
01:45during Tiananmen Square,
01:46then at the end says, I learned a lot from it.
01:48You learned a lot from what, dipshit?
01:50You weren't there!
01:52You just said you misspoke!
01:55But Jennings said it right, and I think the CNN panel
01:58is sitting there like,
02:00guy pretty much nailed it.
02:01Check this out.
02:02It's pretty clear Vance outclassed Walls tonight.
02:06I mean, I was watching this, and all I could think of was,
02:08man, Walls is so in over his head.
02:10I mean, can you imagine this guy
02:11sitting in the White House Situation Room
02:14with that facial expression that's like 50% sheer terror
02:17and 50% extreme bafflement?
02:19I mean, it was amazing, the split-screen difference
02:21between a competent Vance
02:23and a totally in over his head Walls.
02:26The answer on why he lied about his trips to China
02:30and the Tiananmen Square thing
02:32was probably the worst VP debate meltdown
02:34since Stockdale in 92.
02:38Folks, sounds like something I told you before.
02:41And no, I promise you, I did not get that idea from Jennings.
02:46That's why I put the clip, well, it doesn't matter.
02:49I can say that all I want.
02:50I'm just telling you,
02:51like me and him thought the exact same thing.
02:54You know what?
02:55Is there any way, Michael,
02:57can you pull the Admiral Stockdale moment
02:59and the VP, why are you here, if you can?
03:01I'll show you what I mean.
03:03Listen, I'm not,
03:05there's no sense right now relitigating the past,
03:08but the problem is this really did some damage.
03:12It did a lot of damage to Stockdale,
03:14and it's widely considered to be
03:16one of the worst moments in debates ever.
03:20This, that's it right there,
03:21when you're playing in my ear, but don't,
03:23yeah, if you get a second of it,
03:25it just did not go over well.
03:27I agreed with, the second I got up, that's what I thought.
03:31Watching that last night and letting it stew
03:34that the answer he gave about faking,
03:39this is like fake civil rights activism.
03:43Don't worry about it, guys.
03:44I'll play it later on the radio show.
03:45If you can find it, we'll throw it in there.
03:47This was a really, really bad answer.
03:49We're obviously doing some stuff on the fly
03:51because this is such a busy show.
03:52We have these things called floaters,
03:54not to get off topic,
03:55but elements that I didn't put in
03:57on the rundown the night before.
03:59The whole show has been floaters.
04:01Folks, here's my notebook for today.
04:03We haven't even gotten, correct, guys, to the actual show.
04:06We're getting there, we're getting there.
04:08We may get there eventually.
04:11They're in trouble after last night,
04:13but I don't want you to put too much weight into it.
04:15I think from this point on,
04:17Kamala Harris's team realizes
04:19that the strategy I've been discussing
04:21over the course of the last few shows,
04:23you know what it is?
04:23It's called shut up.
04:26That's their strategy.
04:28That was a clip from the Dan Bongino Show.
04:29You can watch the full show.
