Stokes backs 'selfless' Root to be all-time best in the world

Ben Stokes heaped praise on his team-mate Joe Root after he became England's all-time leading Test run scorer.

00:05To score that many runs you'd think that they'd have to be a little bit selfishness about player

00:09But everything that he does when he's got his bat as a hand is all about team

00:12I remember a couple years ago where he was getting stick left right and center for not converting his 50s into hundreds

00:19But he was averaging over 50. I just couldn't get my head around it

00:21There's the amount of times that he's won us the game with the bat

00:24Never mind the conversion rate because you know converting these 50s into 100 doesn't necessarily mean you're going to win the game

00:31But the selflessness that he has

00:34Is an incredible attribute for him?

00:37He always puts the team first and the fact that he has got so many runs

00:41It's just a bonus for us. He's 33. I

00:45Don't know how many games he's I he's played a hundred

00:49Whatever games in a row, so that's an amazing thing

00:52So 33 you think he could easily go through these 37 38 maybe in 39, so you know if he plays all the test matches

00:59From from now until then I don't see why not

01:03He's too good of a player to not at least get close to but I personally would be backing to go past it
