00:07Located in the south of Morocco on the Atlantic coast, the unmissable seaside resort of Agadir
00:15is popular for its laid back atmosphere, the hot sand, and its gulf.
00:25Join me, Immy Barkley, as I embark on this new stage of Gulf Travel Tales, exploring
00:29the beauty and excitement of Agadir like never before.
00:33The Bay of Agadir offers these sheltered waters with a wonderful intermediate swell, which
00:39is ideal for learning to surf or simply enjoying the ocean.
00:44I'm heading to nearby Tagazouk to try my hand at surfing.
00:47It's only 20 minutes from Agadir.
00:49It's home to several spots with impressive waves.
00:52Hi.
00:53Hi.
00:54I'm Lokman.
00:55I'm your surf coach today.
00:56Let me show you around.
00:57Oh, thank you, Lokman.
00:58So time to get kitted out.
00:59I like the silver one.
01:00Yeah.
01:01We're going to try to find you a good size for you.
01:05Okay.
01:06Surfing looks so much fun.
01:07What kind of thrill do you get out of it?
01:09You're more connected to nature, mainly the ocean, because it's a big part of our planet.
01:15And Lokman, tell me, where are the main surf spots in Agadir?
01:18Three main spots that are, like, more advanced, like Killers Point, Mysteries, Anchors.
01:25And we got also the Beach Break Panorama close by, which is for beginners.
01:29So that's what makes it a destination for everyone.
01:34Since I'm in Tagazouk, I'm going to take the opportunity to hit some balls at the hilly
01:39course of the seaside resort called Tazikzout Golf.
01:46Surrounding a cliff that rises 80 meters above sea level, this 18-hole course has got
01:59these spectacular views onto the Atlantic and is dotted around with argan trees.
02:08This fun technical links course was designed by Kyle Phillips.
02:12It was also built around its environment, protecting the existing argan trees and preserving
02:17water by planting new vegetation with lower water needs.
02:25To kick off my day here in Agadir, I decided to visit Souk El Had, which houses Morocco's
02:32largest market behind its clay walls.
02:40Some 6,000 stalls offering spices, fruit, leather goods, carpets, jewelry, lamps, oils,
02:48and soaps.
02:49And once I finish shopping, there's plenty more to see.
02:53Immerse yourself in Amazigh culture.
02:55Check out the Amazigh Heritage Museum to learn about their ancient cultural heritage.
03:00Amazigh means free people.
03:02They have their own unique language, traditional art, music, and are very proud of their culture.
03:10Agadir offers some breathtaking golf courses, and I'm going to hit the ball here at Golf
03:16du Soleil, between the sea and the mountains, situated in this beautiful eucalyptus forest.
03:23Well, where shall we go?
03:31Golf du Soleil has two 18-hole golf courses.
03:34The championship course is host to the Challenge Tour and EPD Tour.
03:39Wide fairways, well-defended greens, and welcoming bunkers characterize this course.
03:45Eva, this course is so lush, so green.
03:49Thanks a lot.
03:50How do you manage that?
03:52It's reused water.
03:53We are sustainable since 2020 and very proud of it.
03:58Once the clubs are in order, it's time to head up to the Casbah, just a short ride on
04:02the cable car to the top.
04:04Haleed, hello.
04:05Hello, Yimby.
04:06How are you?
04:07I'm very good.
04:09Feel welcome in the Casbah.
04:10This is a historic Casbah in Agadir, so let me show you around, and you will have more
04:16stories inside of this Casbah.
04:18The Casbah was founded in the late 16th century, a major hub in the trans-Saharan trade caravan,
04:25and it has this breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Agadir and a stunning sunset.
04:31It really is the most perfect place to end my Agadir adventure.
04:43And whilst you're in the area, why not also stop by the Royal Golf Agadir, Golf de Dune,
04:49Golf de l'Océan, Golf Tagazoute, and Golf du Soleil.
