00:00President Bongbong Marcos is in the Lao People's Democratic Republic for the ASEAN Summit.

00:05And one of the topics there is China's invasion of the West Philippine Sea.

00:10Just this morning, the Philippines' ships experienced a new type of water cannon

00:15near Bajo Temasinlok.

00:25Pia is President Bongbong Marcos.

00:27It is not surprising that there are more than 2,000 Filipinos

00:30living here in the Lao People's Democratic Republic

00:33and making a good mark here in this country.

00:36Tonight, there are 400 members of the Filipino community

00:39who were at the ASEAN Summit on the first night of President Bongbong Marcos here in the Lao PDR.

00:45The Filipinos here are highly regarded.

00:47The ambassador here is Dina Joy Amatong.

00:50Most of them are teachers, but there are also engineers, managers, and skilled workers.

00:55The President congratulated the Filipinos here

00:58and thanked them for giving a good name to the Philippines and to the Filipinos.

01:03He also explained his participation to encourage the Filipinos

01:07to stop transnational crimes such as human trafficking

01:12where some Filipinos are also victims.

01:15Earlier this morning, near Bajo Temasinlok or Panatag Shoal in the West Philippine Sea,

01:19the Philippine ships and Chinese ships met again.

01:24According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,

01:26there is a resupply mission of BRP Datu Cabaylo and BRP Datu Sandai

01:30for the fishermen in Panatag Shoal

01:32when three Chinese Coast Guard ships and a Chinese Navy vessel approached them.

01:37The Philippine ships were hit by water cannons,

01:41but they were not hit.

01:53The Chinese Coast Guard invaded Panatag Shoal,

01:57which they call Huangyan Island.

02:00China violated their right to the area

02:03even though it is included in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines.

02:07From September 30 to October 6,

02:09190 Chinese vessels were monitored by the Philippine Navy in the West Philippine Sea.

02:27The issue in the West Philippine Sea is one of the topics discussed

02:30in the ASEAN Summit in the Lao People's Democratic Republic which will start tomorrow.

02:35President Bongbong Marcos arrived here at 4 p.m. in the Philippine time.

02:40Before he left the country,

02:41the President reiterated the support of a peaceful resolution in Segalo.

02:46I intend to champion our advocacy in promoting an open, inclusive and rules-based international order

02:54and for the peaceful resolution of any disputes in accordance with international law.

03:04I wish to reassure the public that the Philippine government is doing everything it can

03:10to ensure the safety of over 40,000 Filipino nationals in Lebanon.

03:16and in Israel.

03:17No Filipino has been reported injured in the crisis.

03:27Meanwhile, Pia, we mentioned earlier that the President explained

03:30his participation in the ASEAN Summit in front of the Filipino community

03:34that this is part of his challenge to our countrymen.

03:41I fully intend to advance Philippine national interests to strengthen our economy.

03:45From conflicts in Europe to the Middle East,

03:48to global existential threats such as climate change and natural and man-made disasters,

03:53to transnational crime and economic downturns,

03:56all these in one way or another affect the lives and livelihoods

04:01of peace-loving and hard-working people like yourselves.

04:06Pia, before the President visited the Philippine community,

04:10they held a bilateral meeting of the Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin

04:15on economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.

04:20The two leaders discussed the issue in the South China Sea

04:24even though the Presidential Communications Office did not provide much details.
