00:00After eight grueling weeks, we are three-quarters of the way through the block, Phillip Island.
00:16Relationships have been tested.
00:17I don't really talk to the girls.
00:18I just talk to chicken.
00:19Vanilla.
00:20It feels like very much them and us.
00:27What have I done to get that kind of response, you know?
00:31And the team's budgets have been stretched thin.
00:34Budget's still in the red.
00:35You need some tens, boys, and you need another 50 to get into garden work.
00:39We need a win.
00:40Yeah, we're desperate.
00:41Otherwise, we might as well pack our bags and go home.
00:46But...
00:49You just wait and see what I've got in store for them this week.
00:56The biggest week ever.
00:58They say that every block, don't they?
00:59Every single week.
01:00Biggest week ever.
01:01But this time, it actually is.
01:04It's office and rumpus week.
01:05The house is too big and we haven't got enough wicks, so you're just going to have to squeeze
01:08the hallway in in between.
01:10Right.
01:11By the end of the week, 17 spaces, including the hallways, will be revealed.
01:15We're going to try and finish our hallway, try and do rumpus, and then the office area.
01:21So, yay.
01:22And then I drop the most colossal challenge of the season on the blockheads.
01:28The domain listing and buyer's jury.
01:30The team that gets the most votes at the end of the night will win a staggering $50,000.
01:38It's a massive prize.
01:39$50,000 to our budget would send us deep into the green.
01:43Maybe that's actually our game changer.
01:46And what's a party without a couple of VIPs?
01:49Adrian Portelli and Danny Wallace.
01:51How are you, mate?
01:52Rikki, nice to meet you.
01:55Our winners are...
01:59For house five, the challenge may be insurmountable.
02:04We've been set a virtually impossible task this week.
02:08With five spaces up for judging, more than any block team has ever attempted in 20 seasons.
02:14We have two hallways and a stairwell, which is gigantic.
02:20And our office in rumpus as well.
02:22And the pressure definitely takes its toll.
02:26Tough week.
02:27Yeah.
02:28Tough week.
02:29F***ing stoked.
02:34Christian!
02:35What are you doing?
02:37I just need five minutes, please.
02:39You alright?
02:40I just can't do it anymore.
02:41The block.
02:42It's f***ing killing me.
02:46F***ing hell, I'm f***ing done with this f***ing show.
02:50F***.
03:11Damn.
03:12Phew.
03:15Look, the block is a marathon.
03:16It's 12, 13 weeks of non-stop hard work.
03:25And right now, we're in that three quarters of the way through,
03:29where you're so emotionally tired, sleep deprived,
03:32but you've just got to somehow try and get your second wind.
03:37But all it can take is a win.
03:39Whether that be a room win or a challenge win.
03:42Hi.
03:51Did you have a good day yesterday?
03:53No.
03:54The worst day of my whole life.
03:58Where came last in living and dining?
04:03Wow.
04:05For me, it's the space that's the concern.
04:07And as a primary living zone,
04:10that's feeling a little bit squashed.
04:12I don't feel like I am down the beach or at a holiday home.
04:16I am not coming to the beach for my whole lounge room
04:19to be built around a TV.
04:22If the kitchen is the heart of the home,
04:24then living and dining is the soul.
04:28This doesn't have it.
04:30It's a fumble.
04:31Biggest fumble I've seen this season.
04:32Yeah.
04:40It is a real kick in the gut.
04:42I think the thing that's hardest to process is
04:46we started off this competition so strong
04:49and we had like four wins really early.
04:51It's Christian Amemi!
04:54It's Christian Amemi!
04:56It's Christian Amemi!
04:59It's a tie between Christian Amemi!
05:03And, you know, there was all talks of us
05:05potentially being the best block couple of all time
05:09and we could beat records and this and that.
05:11And then to not have another win since,
05:13it becomes harder and harder.
05:15You just feel like you're falling further and further away.
05:20Yeah, I'm tired.
05:22This whole experience is killing me.
05:26Absolutely killing me.
05:28Just absolutely spent.
05:30And it's getting worse every day.
05:32For Christian Amemi, it's been a fall from grace.
05:37But last night's winners have had the opposite trajectory.
05:41I'm gonna give you ten out of ten
05:43I'm gonna love you, love you to death
05:45Baby, you're mine again and again
05:47It's Kylie and Brad.
05:49I'm gonna give you ten out of ten
05:51Baby, only you can forget
05:53Baby, you're mine again and again
05:57How are you feeling this morning?
05:59How are you feeling this morning?
06:01Yeah, good. I'm feeling good.
06:04I'm still shocked.
06:06Shona walked into your living and dining room
06:08and did something she has never done before.
06:15It just works perfectly with that kitchen.
06:18Couple of tens?
06:19Yeah, a couple of tens. Come at me.
06:21I didn't think Marty gave tens out.
06:23Well, he does when he likes what he sees.
06:25Yeah, that's crazy.
06:26Marty thinks that the buyers will know
06:28they have entered another level of sophistication.
06:32Quite frankly, this has been my favourite room
06:34of the block this season.
06:37This morning it's time to find out if the blockheads
06:39agree at the Domain Open for inspections.
06:53This is insane.
06:58Welcome to the madhouse.
07:01That is ridiculous.
07:05It's the place you always wanted but you didn't know you need
07:09Kylie and Brad need to just calm down
07:12with how amazing that room looks.
07:14Leave some style for the rest of us, Kylie and Brad.
07:16Jesus. Leave some space for the rest of us too.
07:20You can see why they got tens.
07:23Welcome to the madhouse.
07:26That is a table.
07:28And it still looks smaller here.
07:30Welcome to the madhouse.
07:32Welcome to the first board meeting of the year.
07:34I'd just like to say that it's good to have you here
07:37all this morning.
07:39Hayden, can you please present our budget?
07:41I don't really want to.
07:4450k down.
07:48They've done such a good job.
07:50And the artwork is stunning.
07:52So good.
07:54This is beautiful.
07:56This feels very homely.
07:58Even though it's black.
08:00It feels really homely.
08:02That is not how I taught him to light a fire.
08:04That is going out in about 5 minutes.
08:06He gave it a crack.
08:12I think they've done really an amazing job.
08:16I love it.
08:18Love, love, love.
08:20It's difficult to style such a big space
08:22and they absolutely nailed it.
08:24They deserve the win.
08:26They deserve the two tens.
08:28In fact, they probably deserve three.
08:36Last night, the judges were mixed
08:38on Maddie and Charlotte's third place
08:40living and dining.
08:42I would like a little more drama.
08:44Yeah.
08:46Personally.
08:49I feel the styling has completely let them down.
08:53Shana just thinks it's vanilla.
08:58Shana, vanilla is a universally loved flavour.
09:02It's no secret that Kylie has given the girls
09:04the cold shoulder
09:06since they arrived to take Jessie and Paige's place.
09:14Maybe a couple of tens on the board last night
09:16has her in a friendlier mood.
09:38All I want to do is centre their coffee table
09:40but I know it's like that because it's like an odd shape.
09:46Look at that.
09:48They've literally just put a bit of stone there.
09:50Is that how they just get away with it?
09:55That looks shocking.
09:57It's just like
09:59there's nothing exciting about it.
10:01Yeah, I get the vanilla comment.
10:05But we thought that of their bathroom too though.
10:07They are consistent.
10:09They can stay, man.
10:11They can stay vanilla.
10:13It's just sort of
10:15like it's sort of what you see in a lot of homes.
10:17And I guess a holiday home,
10:19it's ideal for that.
10:21But we did sort of comment thinking
10:23they just bought a furniture package.
10:25Like it was all very matchy-matchy.
10:27That matches that.
10:29It's like they just bought it all in two sets.
10:31Literally, yeah.
10:33Like a furniture package.
10:37It just looks like a show home.
10:39Just cold in general.
10:41It's exactly the opposite of what you're trying to do.
10:43It's better.
10:47Earlier this morning,
10:51the teams found out
10:53what's on the cards this week.
10:57It's office and rumpus week.
10:59That's right.
11:01The Blockettes have two rooms to deliver,
11:03an office and a rumpus room.
11:05How much did
11:07Scotty budget for this week?
11:09Scotty budgeted
11:12$15,000 for this week.
11:14How generous of him.
11:16Yep, out of the $250,000
11:18CommBank budget, I've suggested
11:20they spend only $16,000.
11:22How much is the budget for the hallways?
11:24There is no budget for the hallways.
11:26That was just slipped in a couple of weeks ago.
11:28Two rooms and a hallway.
11:30I think it goes to the hallway.
11:32Hallway?
11:34That's right.
11:36A couple of weeks ago, a very panicked Dan
11:38brought this to Shelley and my attention.
11:40Scotty, Shelley, how are we?
11:42Dan, you've got a drama.
11:44A little bit drama.
11:46I think there's actually no hallway week.
11:48No.
11:50There isn't.
11:52There's no hallway week.
11:54I mean it's there,
11:56but there's no allocated week.
11:58So everyone's in a panic, I'm in a panic.
12:00The houses are too big and we haven't got enough weeks.
12:02We'll come up with something.
12:04Thanks guys, see ya.
12:06So Shell and I came up with an idea.
12:08Hey boys.
12:10Come over here for a sec fellas.
12:12What's happening?
12:14The houses are too big and we haven't got enough weeks.
12:16So you're just going to have to squeeze the hallway in,
12:18in between.
12:20We're thinking that for the hallway here,
12:22we give you a time frame,
12:24let's call it two weeks, to knock it over.
12:26And then we judge it.
12:28We judge it?
12:30Shell and I judge it.
12:32And whoever builds the best hallway and dresses it,
12:34as judged by Shell and I,
12:37wins 10,000 cash.
12:41I think hall week is generally called
12:43week from hell,
12:45something along those lines.
12:47Hell week, thank you.
12:49So the hallways are now due this Thursday.
12:51Which means they've got three days
12:53to get these finished.
12:55Not to mention,
12:57whilst they work on the office,
12:59and rumpus room spaces as well.
13:03We're going to try and finish our hallway,
13:05try and do rumpus,
13:07and then the office area.
13:09It's really three spaces.
13:11So yay.
13:13A lot of pressure.
13:15Definitely harder than any other week we've done on the block.
13:17For sure.
13:19It's a lot of pressure.
13:21It's a lot of pressure.
13:23It's just...
13:33Just like the block heads,
13:35why not head to Domains
13:37in the Know hub
13:39for exclusive details on this week's rooms.
13:41Every week, there will be expert advice,
13:43floorplans, and much more.
13:45Helping contestants navigate another huge week of renovations.
13:53It's possibly the biggest week we've seen on the block yet, with the hallways due on
14:12Thursday and the office and rumpus up for reveal on Sunday.
14:20From that door to that wall, how big is that?
14:22330.
14:22330?
14:23We both do have business degrees.
14:25I think maybe it's our business minds, like that's how like,
14:28we're less design focused, more like business minded. That's just naturally how we are.
14:33We want to attract the market that's around us,
14:37which in Phillip Island is like the holiday coastal market.
14:41So I think for us, we're like, how do we add value?
14:43How do we create a house that we can get as many people interested as possible?
14:48Maddie and Charlotte have got big plans in the upstairs area of house one.
14:53So this week, we're changing our office into a rumpus because we don't see the value in a
14:57six by 3.5 metre office in a holiday home. So we're going to change that into the rumpus.
15:04A simple space is going to have some comfy seating,
15:07an office nook and a TV above a timber entertainment unit.
15:11But their grand plan is taking shape in the back area of the mezzanine level.
15:18In the back area, which was actually allocated as the guest bedroom,
15:23we've done a little flipperoo, we're going to present like a sitting room,
15:26which is going to look a little bit odd to the judges because they're going to be like,
15:30why am I walking into just like a sitting room with some occasional chairs?
15:36But that is part of the bigger plan to have a guest retreat.
15:42This guest retreat with its own entrance and spiral staircase
15:46is something Maddie and Charlotte got the ball rolling on weeks ago.
15:50And can you still access this from the main house?
15:54There'll be a door there that has a lockable door.
15:56Yeah, okay, this is good. This is awesome.
15:58I'll forward them on to the right people. We'll get it going.
16:00Okay, thank you.
16:02With the plans locked in, the girls even had block architect Julian Frenchley on board.
16:07You're on the money with the spiral staircase.
16:08Perfect.
16:09And it's going to make the house look amazing.
16:10That's good. That's all we want.
16:12Thank you so much for that.
16:13Yeah, the ladder on that side.
16:15Maddie and Charlotte could be onto a winner with this idea.
16:20Because a few seasons back, contestants Tess and Luke
16:26delivered a similar space with its own entrance.
16:29This is feeling like a proper self-contained little apartment.
16:34You are now competing for a different bar from everyone else.
16:37And went on to win the series.
16:39Tess and Luke are taking home to Cairns a whopping 730 grand.
16:50We came into a house that was beautiful, but it wasn't us.
16:53And it wasn't our style.
16:54And a lot of decisions weren't made by us.
16:57So this was like, I guess, our way of being like,
17:00no, we want to add some sort of value or something to this house that
17:03is not just your stock standard bedroom.
17:06Or, you know, we want to do something a bit different.
17:08That's why we started to pursue the idea from the start.
17:20I love Mondays.
17:21I love Mondays.
17:22I love the inconsistent feedback and then coming into your room
17:27and then racking your brain on a Monday.
17:29It's delightful.
17:30It's one of my favourite pastimes.
17:32I'm going to miss it.
17:32Honestly, if I could live every Monday,
17:35if I could live a life full of Mondays on the block,
17:37I'd be a very happy man.
17:39This week, we have the office space and then also the rumpus room.
17:44So decisions needed to be made there.
17:47Yeah, it's just insane.
17:50This week, the big concern for the married couple is the office space,
17:53which they made the decision to make smaller a few weeks back
17:57to make the mezzanine en suite bigger
18:00with a grand plan of turning this level into a second main suite.
18:08However, the judges didn't love the idea.
18:13So they've taken space.
18:15Fundamentally, doing that is a massive error
18:18from a real estate perspective.
18:21And I absolutely hate it.
18:26I do have to agree for a secondary en suite.
18:29This is such a waste of space.
18:31It's too much.
18:32I think this floor plan is a big mistake in layout.
18:36For me, it's just, it's a miss.
18:40Let's get all the walls up.
18:42Let's get it all framed out and everything done here.
18:44And then let's have another meeting.
18:45And once the space is all put together,
18:48let's work out how it's going to work.
18:50But there's one thing they're confident
18:52they can save the now smallest office space on the block.
18:56Courtney's styling, which always sets us apart.
18:59Curves are what makes us different.
19:01And we've got quite a unique feature in the plaster
19:03that complements the kitchen curve.
19:06Along with the curve faster on the balustrade,
19:08they're going to have a built-in shelf on the wall
19:10with an office desk set up in front
19:13and a sitting area as you enter the space.
19:15What we've done with our office is that nothing's cement.
19:19So we can move out the desk if you need to.
19:21And it could be like a little reading nook.
19:23We tried to tick a few boxes there.
19:25I also have a thought with the other room.
19:28As you go into the rumpus room,
19:30it is a bit of a narrow room and a longer room.
19:33In this extra living space,
19:35they're going to have an L-shaped sofa, coffee table,
19:38big TV on a port-a-timber wall,
19:40sconce lights and artwork.
19:44If we can get an L-shaped lounge this way,
19:45then that eliminates any storage, this wall.
19:49Yeah, like a lounge which kicks out like...
19:51Like a chaise.
19:52Yeah.
19:52You can have a lounge there and a chaise.
19:53So that wall really...
19:54Chaise or chaise?
19:55It's chaise.
19:57It's very bougie.
19:59It's a French word, it's not cha...
20:01Chaise.
20:03What do you think about chaises?
20:05Chaise.
20:14Our house is different to everyone else's house
20:16because we have two hallways, downstairs and upstairs,
20:21and a stairwell, which is gigantic.
20:24And our office and rumpus are
20:27on separate levels of the house as well.
20:31The rumpus room, which is on the ground floor,
20:33was originally planned as a third bedroom or guest suite.
20:37But Christian and Mimi have decided to take advantage
20:39of its proximity to the pool
20:41and make it another living space
20:44with everything you could expect to find.
20:49Upstairs, we have a massive office space
20:52and we felt that it was unnecessary,
20:55so we've done a bedroom.
20:58People love more bedrooms.
21:00This extra bedroom will have a double bed,
21:03modest wardrobe, reading chair
21:05and coastal-inspired artwork on the wall.
21:10So those are House 5's plans for the week.
21:13Question is, can they afford them?
21:16Lucky I have something in store
21:18that could be an absolute game-changer.
21:28Oh, g'day.
21:29Hi guys, how are you?
21:31Hello.
21:32Hi.
21:33I feel like we only saw you yesterday.
21:35How are we all?
21:36Great, mate.
21:37I know you're very busy planning your rumpus slash office,
21:40but I've got an extremely important announcement to make.
21:49And to help me do that,
21:50I've brought along my friend,
21:51resident property expert from Domain,
21:54the very knowledgeable Alice Stocks.
21:56Welcome, Alice.
21:58Hi guys, great to be here.
22:00As you know,
22:01the block is the most challenging real estate game in the country.
22:06Can we guess what this week's challenge is?
22:10Yes.
22:13Well, we knew this was coming, didn't we?
22:15We didn't have this officially down the schedule,
22:17but we knew this was coming, didn't we?
22:19We knew it was coming.
22:20We had a bit of a sniff.
22:21The Domain listing and buyer's jury.
22:23Yes, come on.
22:26Working with your agents,
22:27you will create a fantastic Domain listing
22:30telling everybody how your house is the best on the block.
22:35We all know you guys are going to be auctioning your homes
22:38back to back on the same day.
22:39So you have to do whatever it takes
22:42to make your house stand out from the crowd.
22:44And the best way to do it
22:46is through creating an emotional connection to the property.
22:49Emotional connection, we always talk about that.
22:51Once you've created your Domain listing,
22:53you're going to put on a soiree of sorts.
22:56Ha-ha! Yay!
22:58For 100 prospective buyers.
23:01I feel like instead of, you know,
23:03constantly just getting judges' feedback,
23:05you're getting feedback from prospective buyers.
23:09Judges aren't buying your house.
23:11Those guys are.
23:13And you better put on a good shindig.
23:15The team that gets the most votes at the end of the night
23:18will win a staggering...
23:20..$50,000!
23:22Wow!
23:24Ash, thanks to Domain.
23:26$50,000!
23:28If you win this challenge, that's almost like winning five weeks.
23:31Oh, it is. It's like winning five weeks of the block.
23:33$50,000 towards our budget
23:36would basically pay for our landscaping.
23:39Done.
23:40Why not add a bit more pressure to this week?
23:42Now, just saying, the team that won this challenge last year
23:45are going to have to pay $50,000.
23:48Just saying, the team that won this challenge last year
23:50went on to win the block with a record profit.
23:57So you've really got to pull out all the stops.
23:59It's going to be a block party to remember.
24:02I'll bring everyone up here,
24:04and I'll tell them to look down at all the other peasants.
24:07Mimi!
24:08HE GIGGLES
24:10So I suggest you get on the blower to your agents immediately
24:15and get the ball rolling.
24:17Are you there, mate?
24:18Yeah, we've got some big news.
24:20We're organising a shindig this week.
24:22Yeah. A shindig?
24:24Yeah, I know we're good at it. That's what I'm talking about.
24:26HE LAUGHS
24:28Get on the case. Good luck, everybody. See you later.
24:32We're going to try and organise and open for inspection.
24:34We're going to try and finish our en-suite, finish our hallway.
24:37Try and do rumpus.
24:38Photos, copywriting.
24:40Don't even know what that is yet. Got to Google that.
24:42Yeah, there's a whole list of things that we've got to get planned.
24:45This is going to be a wild week.
24:47People were calling last week massive.
24:49This is just going to be onroids.
24:51There'll be barely any sleep this week.
24:58Welcome back to the block,
25:00where I've just dropped a potential 50 grand bomb on the blockheads.
25:11Big day this Thursday. 50 grand on the line.
25:13The main open home.
25:15That's a big one.
25:1750 grand, baby!
25:19Jeez, baby!
25:21So what needs to happen, guys?
25:23So we need to, um...
25:25work with our agent.
25:31Hi, Yvette.
25:33How are you?
25:35Get the right people invited,
25:37figure out catering, entertainment.
25:43Should I fly my parents in?
25:47Your parents could be potential buyers,
25:49but then is that a conflict of interest?
25:51No, not for the team!
25:53Yes, I thought...
25:55My parents aren't going to buy our house.
25:57Oh, my God.
25:59Imagine setting up a temporary kitchen at the front
26:01and your dad making pâté.
26:05Hey, do you want to DJ?
26:07We had a DJ last time on the live.
26:09Do you want to DJ?
26:11Great, mate.
26:13We are pumped for this.
26:15We're throwing a party
26:17and actually getting to use the space
26:19that we've built for what we believe is
26:21what it's going to be used for.
26:23That excites us.
26:25Yeah, we'll see.
26:27We'll find out what our limitations are
26:29and go from there.
26:31I may be serving drinks with no top on
26:33and a bow tie.
26:35Photos were coming the next day.
26:37So what we'll do,
26:39we'll process as quickly as we can
26:41and then we'll just share them with you overnight.
26:43Well, thankfully, our real estate agent
26:45was kind of on top of it.
26:47We will see you at 7.
26:49Thanks, Jodie.
26:51With 50 grand on the line,
26:53your real estate agent is going to play a key role
26:55in how you present and sell the house.
27:01It's a domain challenge
27:03and we don't have a real estate agent.
27:05We're so not ready for this.
27:09Last week, the Queenslanders got some bad news.
27:13Our real estate just bought out.
27:15Oh, golly.
27:19So, I don't know how we're going to do
27:21a domain challenge
27:23without an agent that would want to come on board.
27:27You guys went into quite a spin.
27:29It's a lot to try and digest,
27:31not to mention you don't have much time.
27:33What have we got, Thursday?
27:35Technically, three days and the fourth day
27:37is you're throwing a party at your home.
27:39Oh, with 50 grand on the line this week,
27:41Kylie and Brad aren't taking it lying down.
27:45Yeah, so we put out a call
27:47to a local agent, Alex Scott,
27:49Greg Price.
27:55Yeah, mate, so we're in the hunt
27:57for a real estate agent
27:59to help us sell our block home.
28:01Yeah, look, I'd be keen to come down
28:03and have a look at the property with you tomorrow
28:05if you're available.
28:07Mate, that would be amazing.
28:09Yeah, we could go through things.
28:11I know the property well.
28:13I sold it to people who bought it off.
28:15So, that's amazing what you guys are doing,
28:17so I'm really looking forward to coming down
28:19and having a look.
28:21But why stop at one agent
28:23when you can have two?
28:25We've also reached out to Michael from McGrath
28:27in Melbourne, Melbourne-based.
28:32We're hoping you might be able to come
28:34and save the day.
28:36He'd be all over us.
28:38If this will be your sixth time,
28:40someone with lots of experience.
28:42Maybe we needed to go with someone
28:44that has some block experience,
28:46that understands how it all works,
28:48someone that's potentially won a few before.
28:50Yeah, so out of the six,
28:52Josh and I have won it three times.
28:54Amazing.
28:56Placed two, so, yep, we know what we're doing.
28:58We felt really comfortable chatting
29:00on the Zoom.
29:02He knows his stuff and it sort of puts your mind
29:04at ease a little bit when you can actually chat to them.
29:06Michael, we've spoken to a local agent,
29:08Greg from Alex Scott Real Estate
29:10here on the island.
29:12And we sort of thought by having more
29:14of a local representation
29:16but then doing a little bit of a collaboration
29:18with a bigger agent
29:20that's got more experience,
29:22maybe that would be something that you could be
29:24interested in.
29:26So, having local boots on the ground
29:28and having the juggernaut that is Josh and I
29:30and the McGrath Network
29:32coming in to assist
29:34and work in tandem with Greg
29:36and his team,
29:38it just makes sense.
29:40Yeah, really. Well, we're glad
29:42it makes sense to you because that's what we were hoping for.
29:44Kylie and Brad have gone
29:46from having zero agents
29:48to now having two agencies
29:50sharing the load for the Domain Challenge.
29:52Now we've got the heavy hitters. I love it.
29:54I think we've probably got the best team
29:56but no one knows it yet.
29:58We've got this team, let's do it!
30:00Yeah!
30:02Woo!
30:04Next step now is we need to
30:06organise some catering.
30:08What we're going to do about our photos.
30:10Lots of stuff.
30:12There's lots of stuff for Thursday
30:14but we also have the build of our office rompers
30:16happening at the moment.
30:18And hallway.
30:20Yeah.
30:26Woo!
30:28Woo!
30:30Woo!
30:32Woo!
30:34Jesus.
30:36Peter for true call, mate.
30:38He's going quick through the car park.
30:40Woo!
30:42Woo!
30:44Alright, I'm breaking this thing.
30:46Don't hammer it too hard.
30:48No, I'm just going to run at it.
30:50I reckon Superman headbutt.
30:52I feel sorry for this lever.
30:54Runner?
30:56Runner.
31:00That's pulled.
31:02Slammed it,
31:04broke the glass, pulled the lever,
31:06bang, straight into house three.
31:08H was excited.
31:10He's a bit of a pyro, so.
31:12H lit the flare off
31:14in our rumpus and Scotty
31:16came running up the stairs.
31:18I don't know where he was or how he knows.
31:20Distress signal.
31:22Proper safety flare.
31:24I couldn't see Hayden.
31:26Hayden's turned around to look at me.
31:28I'm like, mate, turn the other way.
31:30And then Scotty just appears out of the smoke.
31:32I saw the flare go off.
31:34Thanks for answering the call, mate.
31:36We get to exhaust 10,000 bucks
31:38in high pages, trades.
31:40What are we doing, boys?
31:42We really desperately need
31:44help with plastering this week.
31:46Massive room, massive job.
31:48If we're going to finish,
31:50we're going to need a big team of plasterers.
31:52With a hallway due on Thursday
31:54and an office and rumpus room due on Sunday,
31:56getting a team of plasterers
31:58is an ace up the sleeve for the boys this week.
32:00Righty-o, plasterers,
32:02high pages out, you got it? Beautiful.
32:04So take some photos.
32:06Beautiful.
32:08And post.
32:10Ad went up and, yeah,
32:12waiting on the call.
32:1410,000 bucks worth of trades from high pages
32:16plus 5,000 bucks to get something
32:18nice for the room.
32:20The boys have a relatively simple plan for their rumpus this week,
32:22with a few sofas, a coffee table
32:24and mounted TV on the wall.
32:28But their real game-changer
32:30is happening in the office area.
32:32The office area?
32:34Office in the bin.
32:38Who needs an office when you're coming down to the Philippines?
32:40So we're going to do a big
32:42games area and make it that really nice,
32:44entertaining house.
32:46And we're going to get a pool table
32:48slash air hockey table,
32:50maybe a Pac-Man game,
32:52maybe a Street Fighter game
32:54and maybe a cocktail cup
32:56for a few quiet sippers.
32:58That's fantastic, boys.
33:00That's a great idea.
33:02This room's going to be terrific.
33:04I think the hardest thing is that we've put so much
33:06effort, blood, sweat and tears,
33:08sleepless nights, and super proud
33:10of the work that we've done
33:12and just got zero reward for it.
33:14Our buds are still cooked.
33:16Have I got the buyers' jury this week as well?
33:1850K's worth? I reckon, because you're the
33:20Challenge Kings, I reckon you can do that.
33:22There's 100K on the line this week.
33:24100K, 50K for the Domain
33:26Challenge, there's 10K for Hallway,
33:2810K for Rumpus, and then potentially
33:30if you can jack some tens,
33:32there's 100 there. So we could go
33:34from in the red to
33:36in the green miles.
33:38This is your week. This is our week, mate.
33:40So yeah, we're pumped.
33:44On my way, I gotta look
33:46on the bright side, baby
33:48It's what it's gonna bring
33:50Ricky and Aidan have a small army of trusted tradies
33:52to help them out.
33:54But not so for Christian and Mimi,
33:56who happen to have the most work
33:58out of all the teams this week.
34:00So just to add to all the drama
34:02of the two spaces and
34:04upstairs, downstairs, hallways, challenge,
34:06the site did come a bit messy.
34:14Christian. Yes, clean.
34:16Look at this. I'm a clean
34:18worker. I have been throughout the whole season.
34:20I've just been absolutely bombarded
34:22this last two weeks. We'll clean it up.
34:24I don't want excuses. We'll get it cleaned up.
34:26I'm gonna go downstairs, stop all works until this is Mickey Mouse.
34:28Well, instead of closing us down,
34:30I'll start working on that straight away.
34:32Nah, I'll close them down until it's cleaned up.
34:38Just f***ing stay up all night.
34:40No s*** is gonna be f***ing dirty.
34:42I think it was
34:44a fair call, but the way that
34:46he came across, he made it sound like
34:48we're messy all the time. It's literally the first
34:50time it's ever happened. This week, to continue
34:52on from the all-nighter on Sunday
34:54and the all-nighter the week before
34:56and the week before and the lack of sleep.
34:58Yeah, there's just, I don't know,
35:00just to try and piece everything together is really hard.
35:02Very drained physically, emotionally
35:04and
35:06mentally, I guess.
35:08To keep things moving,
35:10Christian has sent his crew downstairs
35:12while he cleans up the mess.
35:14Christian.
35:16Christian.
35:18Where's all your workers?
35:20What do you mean? Where are they?
35:22They're working. Yeah, there's no work until
35:24all this is cleaned up. Boys!
35:26We've gotta clean upstairs still.
35:30Bucket.
35:32I'm cleaning it now.
35:34Well, we need it cleaned up, so still.
35:36I'm doing it now. Let's just clean up.
35:38Well, it's not safe for us.
35:40I'm cleaning it now.
35:42Yeah, but I want them to help, because I want it done.
35:44We've been asking all day.
35:46It's a one-man job to clean all this.
35:48Let's turn a one-man job for an hour into a four-man
35:50job in ten minutes.
35:52The thing is, it doesn't take...
35:54The more we argue about it, the longer we wait.
35:56I've cleaned it.
35:58The quicker we do it, the quicker it gets done.
36:00It's like, if we spend an hour cleaning up now,
36:02that's an hour behind that we are on everything else
36:04that we're prepping.
36:06It was the first time throughout the whole season
36:08that it happened. That's why I took it a bit hard.
36:20Is he crying?
36:22Dan! Did you make him cry?
36:24Hey?
36:26Did you make Christian cry?
36:28No, I'm making him clean up, like I asked a hundred times.
36:30I'm sick of asking the same question
36:32day after day after day, hour after hour.
36:36I find it hard
36:38to comfort
36:40because usually
36:42Christian's the one comforting me.
36:44Christian!
36:50What are you doing?
36:52Christian.
36:56Shut the door, please.
37:00I just need five minutes, please.
37:02But you can't react like that.
37:04Can I just have five minutes, please?
37:06Can I, like, try and talk to you?
37:08Yeah, you can, but just...
37:10Can I just have five minutes?
37:16I'm leaving!
37:18Babes.
37:20How f***ing embarrassing is he?
37:22Who the f*** acts like that?
37:24He's crying.
37:26But I'm, like, embarrassed as f***.
37:30Leave his ass.
37:32Leave his ass.
37:44Sorry, guys.
37:50Part of the show.
37:52Part of the show.
37:54Seeing Christian cry,
37:56the way I react to it
37:58isn't normal.
38:00Crying when you're happy is fine,
38:02but crying when you're sad is like,
38:04be a man, be some concrete.
38:06This is a bit embarrassing.
38:08I don't like how I react to it.
38:10You know, when I cried when I was younger,
38:12my mum would always say,
38:14why are you crying?
38:16What are you doing that for?
38:18Like, grow up, like, snap out of it
38:20instead of comforting me.
38:22And I didn't realise that I've adopted that.
38:24I think that's something I definitely
38:26need to hone in on.
38:28Don't get angry for me getting upset.
38:30Stop crying.
38:36With their brand new
38:38real estate agents locked in...
38:40We've got this, team. Let's do it.
38:42Yes!
38:44Last night's winners are off on their
38:46Ford getaway in the Mustang Marquee.
38:48I haven't
38:50driven it in beast mode yet.
38:52I want this bad boy, hey.
38:59So our Ford getaway...
39:01Went for a helicopter ride.
39:03Helicopter ride.
39:05Are you flying it?
39:07No, no, no. I'll tell you who is excited.
39:09Who's excited? Oli, the pilot,
39:11because it's his second flight, so he's very excited.
39:13He's going to fly directly over one of the
39:15greatest attractions on Philobola.
39:17That'll be a bird's eye view, it'll be a ripper.
39:19I'm not nervous about flying
39:21and the experience, it's the fact that
39:23I don't have control freaks me out.
39:29So I was extremely nervous
39:31about getting on the helicopter.
39:45Scotty did mention that we were going to see
39:47somewhere pretty epic
39:49over Phillip Island,
39:51which was the block.
39:59It was actually a really great experience.
40:07How was it?
40:09It was good. It was unreal.
40:11You know Tom and Sarah-Jane, don't you?
40:13A couple of seasons ago in Gisborne,
40:15Tom's never-say-die attitude
40:17and Sarah-Jane's
40:19refined style.
40:21It turns out that I'm like a styling genius.
40:23Are you? Yes, I know.
40:25Won over the judges time and time again.
40:27I love it.
40:29It's so beautifully done.
40:31It feels like that perfect Ralph Lauren
40:33country house. Yum.
40:35Love it. The talent here
40:37is phenomenal. Tommy is
40:39great and I have said to him numerous times
40:41how much I've always wanted to meet his wife Sarah-Jane.
40:43So I was ecstatic.
40:45Now, we've got a great night planned for you guys.
40:47You guys go to the bar and set up
40:49the drinks. I'm going to show you where you're sleeping
40:51tonight.
40:53Then we had all the range of the
40:55Europe Island Winery.
40:59Now this is an eco
41:01hut by EcoLive
41:03and they're a local building company
41:05and they design and build these and drop them in
41:07place. They're absolutely incredible.
41:09Really cute.
41:11It's a cool detail. That's unreal.
41:13Really nice. Oh look, there's even
41:15a light-up mirror. Pretty flash-looking cabin.
41:19Here's to a win. Winner, winner.
41:21A good win. What more
41:23could you want?
41:25Oh, last night's winners live it up.
41:29I have to cook the chumps dinner
41:31because Christian and I are chumps.
41:33I went to Audi to buy some ingredients
41:35which was terrifying because I hate
41:37grocery shopping because I hate cooking.
41:39There's no pork shoulder. There's loin
41:41shoulder. I really don't like
41:43grocery shopping. It's very stressful.
41:45Ah, pork shoulder.
41:47One per couple.
41:49One. Two.
41:51I'm going to do
41:53a slow roasted pork shoulder
41:55with a pickled slaw on the side.
42:01Chumps dinner. Finally we're not
42:03cooking one.
42:05Yum!
42:07That's cooked to perfection.
42:09The crackling was great.
42:13That's delicious.
42:15It was nice hosting everyone.
42:17Cheers, thanks for coming.
42:21Can I just say this is the best cook-up
42:23anyone's done all year.
42:25They nailed it. They should lose every weight.
42:31Oh, here they are.
42:33Winners are Grinners.
42:35Welcome to
42:37Phillip Island Winery. I love it. The food's fantastic.
42:39The open fire.
42:41It's absolutely a
42:43beautiful place. Take a seat here.
42:45Someone's got to teach us how to do that salami
42:47roast. I'll show you how to eat it
42:49though.
42:51It's just really nice to hang out with Tom and Sarah Jane.
42:53She's very
42:55real about everything and the
42:57experience and stuff.
42:59I'm sitting with a fire behind me.
43:01I'm just going to take my jumper off.
43:03It's beautiful.
43:05A little bit of chest there.
43:07Would anybody like the beef cheeks?
43:09Of course they're cooked.
43:13How did all the other contestants go?
43:15Honestly, their
43:17rooms were amazing.
43:19To be honest,
43:21He's like, no they weren't.
43:23Which room didn't you like? The girls' ones
43:25just didn't, there's nothing in it.
43:27Is that the sisters that took over from the
43:29couple that left?
43:31No, it just didn't have
43:33Like a furniture package, like matching dining table,
43:35matching coffee room. So it was very display home.
43:37Yeah, right.
43:41Enjoy the wine.
43:43Enjoy the meal. Enjoy the money.
43:45The money, honey.
43:47Don't give it to me.
43:49Are you sure? Because I only won 20 grand.
43:51So if you want to donate it over here,
43:53I'll take it.
43:55That's for you guys for winning lounge room.
43:57Congratulations.
43:59But I have dessert.
44:01What is it?
44:03I got two tens last night.
44:05What's your poison, mate?
44:07Double produce.
44:09There's $20,000 worth of Tim Tams in there.
44:11I would take that.
44:13Oh, guys, thank you.
44:15It was worth coming.
44:17We'll take the rest, mate.
44:19We'll take that, that's five.
44:21Look, $20,000
44:23from Arnott's. Big Bickies.
44:25Wow, that's 30 Gs.
44:27Well, congratulations
44:29because this has been a triumphant
44:31week for you guys.
44:33You've won, and you've got
44:35two tens as well from Marty
44:37and Shaina. Unbelievable.
44:39Unbelievable.
44:41Cheers.
44:43Happy days.
44:45That's much.
44:47I like to move it, move it.
44:49I like to move it, move it.
44:51I like to move it.
44:53With 50 grand on the line in the Domain Challenge,
44:55Christian has spent the day cleaning the entirety
44:57of House 5 for the real estate
44:59photographers coming tomorrow morning.
45:01And there's more to go.
45:03Plan for Monday night was to
45:05clean all the rooms.
45:07Lots of cleaning, lots of moving
45:09furniture.
45:11I went to bed.
45:13As much as
45:15that kind of let the team down,
45:17I just physically couldn't.
45:19I couldn't push myself.
45:23There's
45:25still so much to do.
45:27I guess I was hoping
45:29she was just going to push a little bit harder, but then
45:31again, I don't know how she was feeling.
45:33I think it just became a little bit overwhelming.
45:35Memes has gone
45:37asleep, Christian.
45:43I'll take that as a yes.
46:07With the $50,000 Domain Challenge
46:09happening on Thursday, all the
46:11teams are peddled to the metal, getting
46:13their houses clean and ready for photos.
46:15Charlotte, nice to meet you.
46:17I'm Dean. Nice to meet you.
46:19A few weeks back,
46:21Rikki and Hayden and Courtney and Grant
46:23picked their real estate agents.
46:25Who have you got? We've got Ray White.
46:27So we've locked in our agent.
46:29Who is that? That's Ray White.
46:31So that would be two people
46:33using Ray White. That's two people using Ray White.
46:35Okay.
46:37Despite one agent wanting to sell two houses,
46:39there's a good reason why
46:41that shouldn't happen.
46:43You can't do two houses.
46:45It's like
46:47a jockey trying to ride down the straight at
46:49Flemington in a Melbourne cart with two horses.
46:51It'd be good to watch.
46:53It'd be good to watch, but it's just not going to happen.
46:55When it was
46:57all said and done, houses two and
46:59three ended up with the same agency,
47:01but more importantly,
47:03different agents.
47:05Now there was a bit of
47:07confusion with the photographer
47:09with house two and house three, I believe.
47:11Was there?
47:13There sure was.
47:15We were told to get the house ready by
47:178.30. It's a bad day for a photographer
47:19and air mate. He's here in about 25 minutes.
47:21I was going to say. He's coming in 25 minutes.
47:23Set trades out of the hallway so we can clean up.
47:25I think I've got to do a photo shoot in here
47:27in 20 minutes. So all this flooring has to come up.
47:29Come on, boys. Here we go.
47:32We spent a lot of time cleaning
47:34and getting everything in order.
47:37We were ready by about
47:398.45.
47:43But
47:45I've been standing around for a little while
47:47wondering where
47:49is the photographer?
47:51The photographer is going to be
47:53at house two for
47:55probably a couple of hours.
47:57He started in house two
47:59and he won't be at hours till 11.
48:05Yes, you've still got like an hour and a half.
48:07It would be nice to know.
48:09Communication is the key.
48:11Yeah, it's not ideal.
48:13It's the busiest week on the block and
48:15we've got to finish that hallway by Thursday
48:17and at the moment we've pretty much stopped working there.
48:19So it probably costs us three or four hours minimum
48:21for multiple guys.
48:23How do you feel about sharing the resources
48:25with house two?
48:27Hmm.
48:29Not sure.
48:31Sharing's fine, but when you're in a competition...
48:33Look, it is what it is.
48:35As long as their focus is to sell our house
48:37for the highest price, then
48:39you know, it is what it is.
48:51While the photographers are busy
48:53downstairs... We can get this out
48:55and then we've got the whole room. That's right.
48:57The girls are upstairs working on their potentially
48:59block-winning idea.
49:01Well, we're trying to create a guest retreat
49:03and we're wanting that to be an important part of our
49:05home. We wanted to have a spiral
49:07staircase going up the side of the house
49:09to that guest retreat
49:11so that there could be an external
49:13access. A separate entryway
49:15and spiral staircase is
49:17critical for Maddie and Charlotte's grand plan
49:19of a self-contained guest
49:21retreat on the upper level of house one.
49:23The plans originally
49:25had a window, but the girls are now wanting
49:27to put their all-important new entryway.
49:31I'm downstairs cleaning up
49:33and I hear someone scream from our scaffold
49:35over to G-Mac in house five,
49:37Hey, is this a door
49:39or a window? They're saying it's a door
49:41but there's a window going in.
49:43And then G-Mac's like, no, it's a window.
49:45I don't know what you're talking about.
49:47And I was like, what? And then I went
49:49to see foreman Dan.
49:51We've got a disaster on our hands.
49:53What's wrong? Well,
49:55the boys are cladding that window
49:57that's meant to be a door.
49:59And then Aiden apparently doesn't
50:01know about it or something. I don't know.
50:03It's all in the plans. We'll have a look.
50:05Can we go and talk to the other boys?
50:07Because this will be a disaster if it doesn't happen.
50:09And then that's when Dan
50:11went to speak to Aiden. And that's
50:13when it started to go downhill. I guess there
50:15was a bit of a miscommunication it sounded like.
50:17I'm a little bit confused.
50:19Put that out there.
50:21So a couple of weeks ago there was
50:23some talk about spiral
50:25stairs and lofts and stuff like that.
50:27I'd parked that in my brain because
50:29I'd asked for some more details.
50:31Which I think a bit of
50:33lost in translations happened.
50:35Just because you
50:37could do something also doesn't
50:39mean you can.
50:41The building surveyors aren't
50:43aware of this. This hasn't been checked off.
50:45Donners aren't aware of this. The architect's not aware of this.
50:47And we were like, what?
50:49Because we were told from Dan
50:51that that had all got approved and
50:53Julian Brenchley had drawn it on the architect
50:55plans and already submitted it.
50:57Charlotte literally got him to sign this piece of paper
50:59and was like, right, I'm taking a picture.
51:01So then we don't go back on this and then somebody
51:03can't tell me that it didn't get approved
51:05because I was like, are you 100% sure?
51:07And he was like, yes, I am 100% sure.
51:09And this is the photo that I got.
51:11It says stairs approved, external, signed.
51:13Wow.
51:15That hasn't happened.
51:17From my perspective,
51:19we've already clad this wall, right?
51:21For us to change that to a door,
51:23I have to pull cladding off the wall.
51:25I have to pull battens off the wall.
51:27I have to pull the window out.
51:29Then I have to get it made into a door, firstly, right?
51:31So I don't have budget for that.
51:33It was really frustrating to us because
51:35we had brought up all these issues
51:37way in advance so we could mitigate those costs.
51:39We did not need to pay for the cladding
51:41to come off because we addressed this
51:43when the cladding wasn't even on.
51:45My guess is that this is a 20 to 30 grand exercise.
51:47Right.
51:49The other issue I've got is we're also going to have
51:51to send that to council, I'd say.
51:53Yeah.
51:55Because that's a town planning issue.
51:57We will have four rooms that are compromised
51:59by the fact that this was an oversight.
52:01We need to really think about
52:03whether it's worth the effort
52:05and the energy to pursue.
52:07Right.
52:09Thanks, girls.
52:11Cheers.
52:15I understand it's a huge building site
52:17and things get missed.
52:19We've asked every single day about this.
52:21So much time and energy
52:23that could have been put somewhere else
52:25has been put into that.
52:27I guess we should probably
52:29go and tell the boys to stop.
52:39The Block Phillip Island
52:41is an absolutely enormous building site
52:43with five houses
52:45coming together simultaneously.
52:55Nine and Six's job is to build
52:57all the structures
52:59and handle all the cladding.
53:01And the girls have just found out
53:03that the separate entry
53:05for their guest retreat
53:07has fallen through the cracks.
53:13Obviously, when you're dealing
53:15with four different parties,
53:17there's always going to be a miscommunication
53:19when you're dealing with five building sites
53:21all at once.
53:23Thanks, girls. Cheers.
53:25If there's no external access,
53:27there's no point doing anything
53:29that we're doing up there.
53:31We may as well just scrap the whole thing.
53:33So much time and energy
53:35has been put into that.
53:37I guess we should probably
53:39go and tell the boys to stop.
53:49Howdy.
53:51Obviously, there's been
53:53a bit of confusion.
53:55Sorry for that,
53:57but it is what it is.
53:59Dan approved the stairs
54:01with you guys.
54:03The stairs,
54:05we think we can make work.
54:07Thankfully,
54:09Aiden and the team
54:11were very gracious and they
54:13worked out a plan and they came back
54:15and I think they could see how upset we were
54:17by the situation.
54:19And yeah, it got approved.
54:21It's fair enough that the door
54:23is on us
54:25and we'll just have to work out what to do with the concrete
54:27and the footing at the bottom of it.
54:29And a bit of liaising we've got to do
54:31with the
54:33landscapers about the design with that.
54:35So I think that means we can just move
54:37forward. Sorry for the confusion.
54:39No, that's OK. These things happen.
54:41Thank you. We appreciate
54:43all that. Thank you. No worries. Cheers.
54:45So we
54:47are going ahead with the
54:49spiral staircase. Thank goodness for that.
54:51But that was a very
54:53stressful couple of hours. We can do it.
54:55We can do the door? Yeah.
54:57Oh, hello. You're a blazer lord.
55:01Come on.
55:09After cleaning all night,
55:11Christian has been flat out all day
55:13along with dealing with the photographers.
55:17And Mimi, well...
55:25And the overwhelming
55:27task of completing five spaces
55:29this week, as well as the $50,000
55:31domain challenge on Thursday,
55:33is starting to take its toll on their
55:35relationship.
55:45Who did our bed like that?
55:47Me. For the photos.
55:49What's wrong with it?
55:51That's not how we do it. Because I was supposed to be
55:53on the listing. I don't care.
55:55I was doing everything all day.
55:57And I wasn't doing anything.
55:59No, I'm just saying last night you slept all night.
56:01Yeah, good job.
56:05That's what I get after working all day.
56:07I didn't set the bed
56:09up properly. Are you serious?
56:13Mimi.
56:15As if you actually walk in the house
56:17like that.
56:19What do you want me to say?
56:21You go to sleep at 9 o'clock last night
56:23and all you say when you walk in the house is
56:25as if you've left the bed like that.
56:29Seriously?
56:31You slept all night? Did they take pictures of our bathroom?
56:33Yeah, look at it. I've cleaned that
56:35as well. Don't
56:37come in here like that.
56:39I didn't even get to ask you how your day was and you
56:41go. I don't
56:43care and I'm not going to tell you how my day was.
56:45Do better.
56:47Do better? Yeah, you do better
56:49sleeping all night.
56:55So what are you doing
56:57tonight then? Are you going to go sleep again?
56:59Yep.
57:09Tomorrow night
57:11the main
57:13buyers jury gets underway
57:15with some
57:17very heavy hitters
57:19on the invite list.
57:21They've done a fantastic
57:23job and yeah, it's something
57:25a bit different so it's exciting.
57:27Excuse me everyone, one minute
57:29to voting.
