00:00On the last day of the candidacy, several candidates ran for Congress in the 2025 elections.
00:08Today, they ran for the nomination of the Certificate of Candidacy in the COMELEC-NCR in San Juan City.
00:16Mela Lesmora on Seto na Balita, live.
00:21Angelic, since this morning,
00:23almost non-stop, those coming here to the COMELEC-NCR office
00:27will aspire to become a congressman in Metro Manila.
00:31The COC filing will last until 5 p.m. today.
00:37Accompanied by his wife, House Deputy Majority Leader and Incumbent Mandaluyong City Loan District Representative
00:44Neptali Gonzalez II,
00:46the former mayor and former congressman, Queenie Gonzalez, formally refused his candidacy earlier.
00:53She wanted to go back to her position as Mr.
00:57That's why, on the last day of the COC filing,
01:00they ran for the COMELEC-NCR office in San Juan City for the refusal of the Certificate of Candidacy.
01:07As a former reporter, Gonzalez said that she will run for the elections
01:11for the benefit of the media
01:13and will also support the establishment of regulations on Artificial Intelligence or AI,
01:18if ever in the elections.
01:21Aside from Gonzalez, the COC also filed for re-election.
01:25Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, along with his family,
01:30was also accompanied by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna,
01:33who expressed full support for his candidacy.
01:36The media asked Lacuna about the refusal of the COC
01:40by his former ally and expected opponent in the election,
01:45former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso.
01:48And Lacuna said that he still considers him as his younger brother.
01:52Speaking of brother, the COC also filed for re-election
01:56for the re-election of the brother who was named City 2nd District Representative Pami Zamora
02:01and San Juan City Loan District Representative Belza Mora.
02:05They were also accompanied by their other brother,
02:07incumbent San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora,
02:10along with their other relatives and supporters.
02:13At this point, let's go back to the platforms that were laid by some Congressional aspirants.
02:21Regulation of the AI, because that's the problem we have in a very digital world.
02:26The AI is being used for fake news in all aspects,
02:33wrong information, character assassination, all kinds of wrong.
02:38And it's bad, because it deceives the community
02:44that this is the belief that the wrong information is being spread through AI.
02:51So we have to have regulation somehow, because it's very harmful to the community.
02:59I think it's the current situation.
03:02If we're going to lose again,
03:04maybe it's high time that we go ahead with the AI
03:09because what I see as our biggest problem right now is the current situation.
03:13The first thing I did in the 19th Congress
03:17was to legitimize the 10 barangays in the 2nd District of Taguig
03:24that until now, I believe, have been existing as barangays for 16 years
03:32but they still don't have funding from the national government.
03:35They still don't have a share of the national tax allotment
03:38because the government still doesn't recognize that they are real barangays.
03:45Some of my files are already in the Senate
03:50and we're waiting for the action of the Senate.
03:57Angelics, we're hoping that there will be more aspirations
04:02for congressmen here in Metro Manila.
04:05This is the designated place of the COC
04:10for those who dream of becoming congressmen in different parts of the National Capital Region.
04:15Angelic, let's show the situation behind us.
04:18This is where the COC feeds the aspirants.
04:23The people of Comelec are always waiting there.
04:26If the personality of the COC feeds is big,
04:30this space will be filled.
04:34Now, we're waiting for the next people to feed their COC.
04:40Desmela, is there a big personality that hasn't filed yet
04:45and is waiting to do it this afternoon?
04:52Angelic, because of an abuse in the media,
04:55we're hoping that the COC will also feed
04:58the House Committee on Human Rights Chair and Manila Representative, Bienvenido Abante.
05:03So now, we're waiting for his arrival, if it will continue.
05:07And we're hoping, Angelic, that aside from him,
05:10there will be others who will come here.
05:12And Angelic, the reminder of Comelec, as much as possible,
05:15don't wait for our aspirants who will come here around 5 o'clock
05:21because they will be late.
05:23But the promise of Comelec, as long as there is an abuse
05:26or they will give their initial papers here,
05:29and even if it's past 5, they will finish it all
05:32as long as the COC aspirant feeds is inside the compound.
05:37Angelic?
05:38Alright, thank you very much, Mela Lesmoras.
