00:00Red hat, check. Blue duffel coat, check. Emergency marmalade sandwich, triple check.
00:07We've got a new arrival, we've got a very special guest and that is Paddington,
00:11who has taken up residence here in Liverpool One and Paddington is one of
00:1623 Paddingtons that are being unveiled. This is one of the first that's being
00:19unveiled in the country. It's for people to enjoy meeting and greeting, maybe
00:24sitting alongside and enjoying a marmalade sandwich. Richard Kemp, the Lord
00:28Mayor of Liverpool, was on hand to unveil the world-famous bear from Peru
00:31alongside children from the Pakoda Nursery. Launched as part of his new film
00:36adventure, a trail of Paddington bear statues are popping up across the UK and
00:40Ireland to celebrate the forthcoming release of Paddington in Peru, arriving
00:45in cinemas on November 8th. Paddington took a seat on a bench at Liverpool One
00:48and was immediately embraced by the local community. Paddington hopefully has
00:54found his new forever home and what's great is he's here and whether you're
00:58young or old, I think Paddington just transcends generations and we're in the
01:03centre of Liverpool and it is a place where people like to come together. Fans,
01:07friends and family can step into Mr Gruber's shoes, sit with the bear for a
01:11spot of tea, a sandwich or two or even write a postcard to Aunt Lucy. So we're
01:16really thankful to our friends at Bean Coffee for providing the marmalade
01:20sandwiches but yeah, who knew that children would like marmalade sandwiches?
01:23It's usually a jam sandwich isn't it? But here in Liverpool now, thanks to
01:26Paddington, it looks like diets might change. For 65 years, British-born writer
01:31Michael Bond has delighted readers all over the world with his stories about
01:35the bear from Peru, famous for his love of marmalade. The kindness and humour in
01:40the stories appeal to children and adults alike, ensuring his enduring
01:45popularity from one generation to the next. Since then, Paddington's adventures
01:49have been adapted several times for television and at the end of 2014, he
01:54made his debut onto the big screen with a further film following in 2017.
